Wow. That was a pain. Rusty had just gotten out of Gringots bank. The goblins took forever to give him gold. Rusty had no money himself. How could he? He is an 11 year old boy. It's not like he can just walk into the ministry of magic and ask for a job! But thankfully, his parents are some of the richest wizards in the wizarding society. Unfortunately, Rusty's parents went missing about a year ago. Things have been very difficult since then. He and his sister had to go live with their grandfather, where he soon fell ill. Doctors were constantly at the house to nurture him, so that left Rusty up to caring for his younger sister Mary Anne. But one of the main challenges with Rusty's parents being gone was they no longer had access to their money. But soon after Rusty received his letter from Hogwarts, he realized that he would need money to buy supplies! Thankfully, his grandfather was well enough one day to write him a slip to get permission to enter his parents vault at Gringots. While the note was perfectly legal, the goblins at gringots still decided to give Rusty a hard time. But finally after much begging and pleading, the goblins finally took the slip and let Rusty ride the crazy rollercoaster cart to the vault. Rusty scooped up a few handfuls of gold and stuffed them in his pockets. One crazy cart ride back to the surface, Rusty began his trek for all his new school supplies. With his pockets falling full of Galleons, Sickles and Knuts Rusty checked his supplies list for everything he needed. He saw there were many books listed, cauldrons, robes, the normal school stuff he was expecting. And at the top of his wonderful list, it showed he needed a wand. Rusty new he would need a wand of course, he wasn't a dumb muggle born! But the reality and excitement hit him all at once. He was going to get his very own wizarding wand!!!

Rusty instantly darted off through Diagon Alley to the famous wand shop "Ollivanders" where his very own parents received their first wands when they where 11. The first thing he noticed when he walked through the little door of the shop was the walls. The walls were all lined with hundreds and hundreds of wands in boxes. And one of them would belong to Rusty.

Hello? Mr. Ollivander?

Rusty called out to the empty store. After about 2 minutes of waiting, a figure finally emerged from the back of the store.

Mr Ollivander introduces himself and talks to Rusty about his parents

Mr. Ollivander walked out into the front of the shop where Rusty could see him. He looked older then ever. Rusty knew he must be very old, for he has been selling wands in the wizarding world forever. He sold Rusty's parent's wands, and their parent's wands, and their parent's wands, and so on. Every single Singer family member Rusty could remember had gotten their wands from Ollivander.

"Rusty, I've been expecting you." Mr. Ollivander said. It had an ominous undertone to it. How could he have been expecting Rusty? He sells wands, not tells the future! "How could you possibly be expecting me? Can you tell the future sir?" Rusty asked in the most polite way he could. Rusty was taught by his parents to always respect his elders. Well, pureblood elders that is. While Rusty may be younger then Muggle Born elders, he is still superior.

"Well, I knew you would be coming one of these years. I knew your parents very well. Great wizards, the Singers. So unfortunate, the incident." By the incident he must mean the time when they completely disappeared, Rusty supposed. Rusty wasn't aware that Mr. Ollivander knew his parents. But the truth was there was a lot of things about his parents that Rusty didn't know. They went missing when he was only 10 anyways.

"So I suppose that you are here for your very first wand? I remember your mother's wand. Cherry Oak, 14 inches. And your father's, Phenix feather 18 inches. It will be exciting to see which wand picks you."

Rusty couldn't help but smile. He was ready. He was ready for his very first wand ever. He was about to become a real wizard.

"Let's start the testing."

Rusty tries out a few different wands

Rusty felt a buzz of excitement inside his chest. He was finally going to start trying out wands!

I wonder how many tries it will take for me to get my wand! Rusty thought to himself. He smiled at Mr. Ollivander and gave him a thumbs up to signal that he was ready. Mr. Ollivander then started to survey the amazing walls of the store, looking for the perfect wand for Rusty. He crouched down and used his old knees to walk along the bottom of the shelves. Mr. Ollivander continued to make grunting noises that elder people used to make it seem like the work they were doing was excruciating. Finally, Mr. Ollivander stood up and handed a wand to Rusty.

"Try this one son. 13 inches, birch wood, unicorn hair." Mr. Ollivander handed Rusty the wand for him to try. Rusty instantly took it from his hands with excitement bubbling inside him. He carefully raised the wand above his head and gave it a swish and flick. The wand started buzzing and a spark shot out of the tip and fired at the front desk, leaving a burn mark in it. Gosh! Sorry sir! I didn't mean to do that! This wand was clearly not for Rusty. "It's alright boy. I wasn't expecting the wand to work on the first try for you. Took your father 6 tries before find him the perfect wand." Mr. Ollivander snatched the watch back from Rusty and neatly put it into it's box. He then grabbed a latter from the back of the room and moved it towards the shelf next to the front door. He started climbing the latter and scanning the shelf. He seemed to be looking for something specific. Rusty was right, because right when he grabbed a box he said "Found it!" Mr. Ollivander scampered down the latter and held the wand out to Rusty, telling him to try it.

Rusty held the wand steadily in his hand. But he didn't even have to raise it in the air before Mr. Ollivander snatched it back, muttering under his breath. Clearly this wasn't the wand either. Is something wrong sir? Rusty asked, wandering why this visit was taking so long. But without answering Rusty, the wandmaker headed to the back of the shop out of sight. Rusty waited for almost 10 more minutes before he came back with a beautiful wand in his hand. It was long and dark, with a majestic handel. Hopefully, this would be the one.

Rusty stretched out his hands eagerly as Mr. Ollivander handed him the third wand to try. The moment Rusty held it though, he knew it was his. He didn't even have to raise it and wave it. This beauty was going to be his. But he had to make sure, so he slowly raised the wand in the air and did a swish and flick movement. He pointed his wand at the shelf, but instead of the wand sending destructive fireballs towards it, the wand just buzzed slightly and sent out a few sparks. This was it. This was his wand.

"Well, you are certainly an easier customer then your father was clearly. This wand is perfect for you Rusty my dear."

Rusty held the wand close to his chest. What his what his father and mother felt like when they received their first wands? Probably. Mr. Ollivander went on and said the price for the wand was two galleons. Rusty paid for his wand with ease, and silently thinking to himself that Mr. Ollivander could easily have charged much more, but that's alright. Rusty walked out of the store holding his brand new wand tightly in his hand. He was ready for his wand to accompany him on all his adventures to come.
