An Awkward Lunch
After grandma and grandpa loaded the boot full of shopping bags, we set off for the leaking cauldron. I can’t wait to order something to eat as I’m starving and haven’t had anything since breakfast. I could sense grandma was still being off with me but grandpa was being his old stingy self. “ don’t think I’ll be paying for you too to have lunch you can pay for yourselves Elaine.” he turns and says to my grandmother who just gives him the most evil list of looks.
As I walk in to the leaky cauldron behind my grandma and grandpa I follow them to the table where we sit down in silence staring upon the menu I didn’t even know half of the stuff that was on the menu so I just decided it would be best for grandma to pick for me as she was paying.
I don’t know whether I should bring up overhear her phone call earlier or even ask her about Damon. I just don’t want to make her upset or mad but she might not cause a scene in front of grandpa and grandpa normally tells me the truth as he’s so blunt.
I’ll wait until after our lunch and hopefully she might have calmed down by then. Grandma told the waitress what we wanted and grandpa gave a list of what he wanted. Luckily, we didn’t have to wait for long and our food was on the table for us to enjoy. ☺️ this place felt so warm and welcoming. It was like a little taboo from the olden days. I still can’t get over myself that I’m really in the wizard world, I look over at a man reading the newspaper but on our newspapers, the pictures are moving like a a memory frozen in time.
“Grandma who was that, that called earlier and why should you have to wait for me to leave Hogwarts for you to tell me something? Is it the Damon that’s trying to tell me something? But when I spoke to him earlier, it seemed like he didn’t want to speak to me and couldn’t get off the phone fast enough” she just stopped dead in her tracks staring at me with her mouth wide open. Oh my God, I think I broke my grandmother. We just sat there in silence for scene like hours. Until my grandpa finally turned to me and said. “ Damon is our other son Elaine doesn’t like to speak about him. Do you?” Grandma still hadn’t said anything by this point and I was starting to get worried. She quickly finished her lunch, stood up abruptly and said. “ we will finish this conversation at home. Take us home now, George” my myself and my grandpa just looked at each other. We have never seen my grandma like this before.
