Also did i do a whole paragraph about what kind of quill Arden has? Yes. Will i do it again? Probably! (quill making is actually so fascinating, i just had to include a few details)
Also this was kinda rushed so don't mind any grammar mistakes lol
Arden was enjoying a nice period of peace in between classes. They didn't exactly want to return to their common room, only to have to run right back out so they could get to class in time, so compromise was the courtyard. Peaceful enough at the moment, only students passing by and few lingering near the other side of the courtyard, loudly talking about quidditch or something similar.
Arden had made themself quite comfy leaning against the cool stonewall, well as comfortable as one could get sitting in the courtyard. Arden people watched for a few long moments, really they could never quite grasp the amount of people in Hogwarts but it seemed neverending.
After a few moments, Arden remembered they had some history essay they hadn't completed yet. Well they had only gotten the homework earlier that day, but still, it never hurt to be early. Arden especially loved history homework, finding it all so interesting, despite having to write several version due to starting to ramble on about some other vaguely related event of history.
Arden opened their bag, pulling out some spare parchment and the history of magic book. Slowly Arden's brows furrowed, a small frown forming on their face. Where on earth could their quill be?
Arden tented to be rather particular about their quills, preferring certain brand that their father had found a few years back. Made of a particular particular breed of hawks flight feathers, the quill was more durable and slightly shorter than most, with it being a somewhat thicker than the average quill. It's fine tip allowing for thin and precise writing.
Arden looked through their bag once more, was it really gone? Did they drop it in the hallway or accidentally leave it in the classroom? Arden took a deep breath, they needed to calm down. They had other quills and this wasn't a big problem..All their other quills were in their dorm room though..
Arden rested their head in their hands, peeking at their silver pocket watch for a moment. Great, they wouldn't have enough time to run to their dorm to get a new quill. How we're they gonna get through the rest of the classes without a quill?
Arden felt too akward to ask anyone else to borrow a quill, especially if they would have to do it for every lesson they had left today. Some teachers kept spare quills, though Arden was unsure of which teachers did and which didn't. They needed to start carrying around multiple quills on themself after this.
So there Arden was, sitting with their head in their hands, contemplating how to get through this with the minimal amount of trouble. Their history book and parchment still spread out infront of the first year. A stray breeze ran through the courtyard, lifting the piece of parchment along with it.
Arden watched the parchment start to lift, almost moving to catch it before realizing it was too late. Arden blinked for a few moments, disbelief spreading on their face. Did they somehow upset lady luck or what, because this was just getting a bit strange.
