Reducio𝕸aze Forge stood next to her aunt Cally. She had read about Diagon Alley, but had never actually been to the place. They were now in front of a brick wall, and her aunt (For some reason) looked like she was calculating something. Then, Maze watched incredulously as she tapped a few bricks with her wand and said "That should do it"
Maze didn't want to be doubtful of a magical brick wall, but the thought became more absurd. But before she could contemplate it any further, the bricks started moving. One by one, it opened up, revealing a a cobblestoned path. Shops outlined the path, and it was as if the sky had lit up. The streets were full of people, chatting, bargaining a good price on goods.
The shops had magical worthy names like Boogermongers and Floo-Pow. Maze took a deep breath. It would every ounce of her self-control not to wander around and explore without her aunt's careful eye.
"Well, let's see now..." Her aunt pulled out her Hogwarts letter, examining it carefully. "First stop, Ollivanders" Her aunt started down the path. She knew what Ollivanders was. The only place to get the finest wands, and the home to the best wandmakers in Great Britain.
Finally, they reached a shabby, narrow shop with peeling gold letters, reading 'Ollivanders'. Maze couldn't hide her excitement, she grinned from ear to ear, and her aunt probably noticed, because she remarked "No need to seem so gobsmacked Mazie"
They entered the store, and the atmosphere seemed to change. It was quiet, and it was if she could hear the whispers of the wands. "Ah... Welcome" A seemingly old man walked out from behind a couple of shelves. He had white hair and silver eyes that seemed to see right through Maze.
"Hello Mr. Ollivander. I think you remember me. My niece" She said gesturing to Maze. Maze felt like hiding behind her aunt out of shyness, but thought against it. "I remember you like it was yesterday. Your aunt blew up one of shelves the first time she tried a wand" Aunt Cally hid her embarrassment with a soft chuckle.
Mr. Ollivander peered down at Maze from the counter. "Let's see what we can get you" He walked to the back, pulling out a box and retrieving a wand. It was a golden colour with a rounded tip. "Acacia wood. A tricky wand, but I sense you have no problem with challenges"
Maze took the wand, holding it firmly. It felt very light, and it almost seemed like it had a heartbeat. She waved the wand, but nothing seemed to happen. Mr. Ollivander raised his white eyebrows "Mmhh... Perhaps too unusual"
He went in the back a second, this time retrieving a thicker one. And the colour was... Beautiful. It was a pale yellowish brown, almost white. "Carpinus... Forceful, but elegant"
Maze almost grabbed the wand from Mr. Ollivander's hand. She felt it in her palm, the soft wood, the magic surging through her. She gave it a swish, and no sooner had she done that, it lit up with a soft glow.
"Marvellous" Mr. Ollivander exclaimed. Aunt Cally beamed at Maze. Mr. Ollivander smiled at her with a twinkle in his eye "You are certainly a Ravenclaw my dear" Maze smiled at that. She always admired the Ravenclaw house. They're quick witt and creativity. Though both her parents were Slytherin. She felt a tiny amount of sadness.
She wished they had been with her...
