William Hunt | First Year | Slytherin

William Hermann Hunt

Will was sorted into Slytherin, like most of his father's family before him. They had been attending Hogwarts for centuries, as they regularly travelled from the village of Hameln, Germany, to receieve the best wizarding education possible.

He is currently 11 years old and subsequently in his first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, as he was born on the 8th April 2013 to Eleanor Hunt, a muggle-born Scot (née McAllister) and his father, Johannes Hunt, a pure-blood wizard of German descent, but he was raised in Aberdeen and attended Hogwarts. This makes him a half-blood wizard. As a result of his Germanic heritage, he is fluent in German, but prefers to speak English, as he feels a closer affinity with his Scottish heritage. As a child, his parents were slightly concerned that he would be a squib, as he failed to interact with or display any magical ability at all until his tenth birthday.

He is a human.

Will's wand is 32.2cm long, made from chestnut wood and has a core of phoenix feather. Olivander described his wand as "flexible, perfect for travelers and explorers who yearn for frequent challenges", which caused a great deal of confusion, as he liked to think that he was quite.. unadventurous. As they say, the wand chooses the wizard, so we'll see what the future has in store for young William.

William Hunt was the youngest member of the Hunt family, who previously owned a lot of clothing stores in and around the Aberdeen area. As a result, his close family were well-respected and well-liked throughout the city. His paternal grandparents had very little interaction with him growing up, as they were ashamed of his father for marrying a muggle-born witch, which unfortunately meant that Will had little knowledge of his heritage. He had three elder sisters, all of whom were much older than young William, and had since left Hogwarts and apparently worked in the muggle world. He did, however, had a single solitary friend: Mark. Will and Mark were acquainted as Mark's mother was a family friend of Eleanor, William's mother. Everyday after tea, Mark and Will would explore the forest behind Will's house, building forts and playing hide and seek. It was a happy existence for Will, but he knew that he was going to find it difficult to bid that life goodbye when he'd have to move to Hogwarts.

Unbekownst to him, his family were not mere clothing store owners, and were well-known in the village of Hameln (Hamlin) in Germany. His furthest direct relative, Hermann von Höhenwald was a wizard who was well-liked in his village for his skill in healing spells. Unfortunately, William had very little interaction with his paternal family with the exception of his aforementioned great-aunt Theodora, who still lived in Hamlin, but often visited Aberdeen whenever she wanted to visit her three-favourite granddaughters. They were often viewed as being better than Will, as they had married pure-bloods and therefore weren't seen as lesser by her.

Will's first instance of wandless magic was when his paternal great-aunt Theodora visited from Germany. She was a rather difficult woman, often criticising William for associating with muggles, like his friend Mark, and was most certainly not fond of his muggle-born mother. For his tenth birthday, she had bought him a small train set that he could set up around the living room. He was rather fond of trains, as he could see them behind his house, but knew almost nothing about riding one. He was sitting on the floor while Theodora launched into yet another strongly-worded diatribe about his mother when he locked his gaze onto the train, concentrating hard and trying to ignore the argument around him before it began to swiftly levitate and hit Theodora in the back by accident. Fortunately, she was pleased that he had finally shown his magical ability and wasn't such a disappointment to the Hunt name.

He is currently looking forward to immersing himself as much as he can in student-life, and wants to try and impress his family, feeling like he has something to prove. Perhaps being sorted into Slytherin only further increased the pressure that he felt from his family, but only time would tell..
