It was a beautiful Sunday morning. Tori was going to the owlery with excited steps. The letter in her hand made her more excited every second. "Maybe it's a bad idea. It's ridiculous to think about it anyway."

She reflexively looked at her shoulder, but bringing Vick into the owlery wasn't a good idea. As a result, owls were eating mice.
When she entered the owlery, she was already starting to doubt what to do. She had been harboring platonic feelings for Pamela Graham for a while. She had seen the Hufflepuff girl a few times and for some reason she couldn't get her out of her mind. Normally Tori couldn't stop herself from talking when she approached or saw someone, but whenever she tried to approach the girl her face would turn red, her hair would become a darker red, and her feet would cause her to walk in the opposite direction. That's why she wrote the letter. She was constantly writing.
Hello Pamela
You don't know me or maybe you've never seen me, but I feel different every time I see you. It's like if I try to talk I can't and it's driving me crazy. I thought writing would be easier, but I realized it was just as difficult as speaking. I really don't understand how some people do this. I guess this is love. If not, we can at least try to be friends. I understand if you don't mind answering and just want to remain silent.

Speech -- Thoughts

This can't be made for me.

Pam read and reread the letter. And read it again. And then again.

And then looked up at the little brown owl in disbelief, "Buddy, I think you've got the wrong Pamela." She reached out to gently stroke the owl's head, drawing back startled, as her own snowy owl Lumi nipped at her finger. She shook her head, patting her on the head, "Stop that. Jealous kid."

She turned back to the letter in her hand, utterly confused, "Er, maybe it came to me by accident....then should I send it back?" She frowned, thinking, How many Pamela's are there in this school? I haven't met any. I need to ask one of the girls. Would there be a way to access this school's register. Alright I'm getting side-tracked.

A sudden flash of wings drew Pam's attention to the school owl which delivered the letter to her, as it took off, flying away from her and her chance to return the letter. "Uh...oh well. Hopefully it will find the correct person next time." She muttered, "Maybe."

She turned to Lumi, playfully scratching the side of her head, "Probably not me, right?" She pouted, turning away, "Still, I'll talk to the girl's. Maybe they'd have some input." She clicked her tongue at the thought of her two closest Hufflepuff friends and the catfight that had happened the last time Ira and Ruth had met. Maybe they'll bond over the need to tease their friend.

A few days had passed and the letter still hadn't arrived. Victoria normally expected this, but she had anxiety. As far as she knew, the owls could go even if they didn't know people or directions. This meant that Pamela did not want to write, but she might have been unwell, and the thought made her sad for no reason. This was different for Tori, these thoughts, these behaviors did not make her feel like herself at all.

When she went to the owlery, the same environment made her happy. Maybe it was because having no one around made it easier for her to do this job.

When she thought about the letter in his hand, an idea came to her mind. She put the letter on the table. She opened her bag and opened her sketchbook. She tore up a picture of a flower he had drawn. She opened the letter, folded it carefully, put it inside and wrote a note at the bottom of the letter.
Hey Pamela;
I think you received my letter and you didn't write it, maybe you don't want to meet or write to me, I understand you, but the thought that you think badly of me doesn't stop eating me. I have no bad intentions, I just wrote my feelings and I will not send another letter so that you do not feel uncomfortable.

Note: You can think of it as a small apology gift.

Speech -- Thoughts

To tell you the truth, Pam melted after seeing the drawing. Like literally she became a giggling, red mess after receiving a letter from a random person she doesn't even know. (Poor girl had no idea what it would feel like to receive letters saying someone liked her)

When she received the letter the second time, she had been convinced it was her. She had learnt that owls could find people they had never seen before, and rarely made mistakes. Although she had no clue whatsoever how that was possible, she had learnt not to question things in the Wizarding World too much. However, she did hope that the stranger who sent her the letter meant the part where they meant no harm. Because Pam was going to reply this time.

The drawing. Pam was always impressed by people who could draw well. She tended to generally be in awe of any person who could do something she herself was not good at. And that happened to include drawing. And the person who had drawn that pair of roses seemed pretty talented. She was going to save it in her collection of good drawings. I don't have a collection of good drawings Welp, she did now.

Writing out the reply had proved to be difficult for Pam, mainly because she had no idea of how to do so. Like, how exactly are you supposed to reply to a love letter. And let's not forget I have no idea who they are. But now, two days later, she managed to pen down a suitable enough reply. She hoped it would be okay with the other side as well.

Hello,
Thank you for the drawing, it was truly beautiful. I admire your honesty and courage in sharing your feelings with me. Perhaps you could give me a name so I can address the letter next time?
Pam

She was so used to the idea that she would not receive another letter after the last one that it shocked her when the owl brought her a letter. She thought he would write for 2 days

When he came to owlery, he went to the same owl to send the letter to Pam. This time he had a surprise for the owl.

She opened her bag and took out a spider in a jar. She had heard of spiders at school, but since it was black and small, she thought it was a normal spider. She put the spider next to the owl and took the letter out of her bag
Hey Pam;
Thank you for writing to me. I would never want to scare you. I'm glad you liked my drawing. I don't remember when I drew this flower, but when I see the picture, your eyes come to my mind. You can call me Lena for now. Of course, if you want too. And believe me, if I had the courage I would have opened up to you in person or told you my full name of in letters, but I loved it when you saw me like this.

May your smile never leave your face
Lena
She waited for the owl to eat the spider and breathed a sigh of relief.

The next letter came two days afterwards. Pam however, could not reply for nearly five days after. As she walked up the familiar paths to the owlery, she wondered if she knew someone called Lena. Although that was definitely a dead end, because Pam was pretty sure the girl had given her a fake name. It is a girl right? It won't be a guy giving me a girl's name right? That would be mega weird.

Pushing open the owlery door, she spotted the same brown owl which always brought her Lena's letters. She plucked out the owl treat she had brought for him and gently placed it next to the owl. Lumi was always possessive about her food, but she had been flying to deliver a letter to her father, so Pam could use it easily. She would have to replace the food before she returned though.

After the owl finished eating, Pam took out her letter from her bag. She had taken her time to write it, mainly because she wanted to have a conversation but had no idea how and where to start. She attached it to his leg, "Off you go."

Hi Lena!
It's nice to finally put a name to you :3 Sorry about the very late reply, been a bit caught up with homework recently. Hope you had a good last five days though! I did had a question, have we ever spoken face-to-face? You don't need to answer it you're uncomfortable. I was just curious!

When the new letter arrived, Victoria wrote her reply with excitement. She felt like talking to her was better than watching her.

She thought about what Pam had written in the letter. In her previous letter, she introduced herself by her middle name, Lena. Maybe she doubted it and asked, or maybe she was wondering if they had actually met before.

When she came to the owlery, she realized that even the owls now considered this normal. She noticed that she came to the owlery more than usual this month.

She kept using the same owl to take it to Pam, so the owl came and landed on Tori's shoulder, or she wanted a spider again. Tori made a mental note to bring a spider when she came

She carefully tied the letter she was holding in her hand to the owl's foot.

"You've already memorized who to take it to, right?"

She stroked the owl's chin and thought about the letter she wrote as the owl left. She was careful when writing to Pam. She wanted them to be good
Hey Pam,
Yes, I can understand you. Hogwarts homework can be difficult and sometimes complicated at times. No, we haven't met in real life. I don't think you would recognize me even if you saw me. Anyway, do you have a pet? While I was watching you, I didn't see a cat, rabbit or any other animal next to you.

This time around, Pam didn't go up to the owlery to deliver the letter. Having read through the girl's letter, she decided that she could send Lumi to her this time. She wasn't sure why it hadn't occurred to her before, but then again, Lumi was often out delivering and bringing back letters to and from her father. Pam had taken it upon herself to send him letters as often as she could. It did not take her way too long to write out the letters anyway. Lumi had been back with her for two days already, so she would probably be willing to go letter delivering again.

Writing out the next letters came pretty easily to her, now that she had stuff she could ask Lena. She found it rather surprising that she hadn't met her before though. How does she know me then? Pam really wanted to meet her. The two girls had become kind of pen-pals. Pam liked to talk to her.

She folded up the letter she had written and went to Lumi. Her owl was sitting on her window sill, a new favorite place for her. She scratched her head affectionately, "Hey buddy. Are you up for some flying?" She hooted back, passing Pam an "only because you asked nicely" look and allowing the girl to tie the letter around her leg.

Hi Lena,
If we haven't met face-to-face, then how do you know me? Are you also a first year like me? Also, yes, I do have a pet. The owl that will deliver the letter to you is my own. Her name is Lumi. Please take care of her while she's there!

Tori was doing her potions homework when the letter arrived. Instead of the same owl as usual, this time there was a white owl. At first, Tori thought it was from her family or someone else, but when she opened the letter and saw the handwriting, her hair involuntarily turned a darker red.

She caressed the head of the owl, whose name he learned was Lumi. She had never had an owl and didn't know much about it, except that it ate reptiles like mice. She took out a blank piece of parchment paper from her bag.
Hey Pam
Your owl is so cute. Did you know? Lumi is a name of Finnish origin and means 'snow'. It also beautifully illustrates the Latin meanings of Lumina and Lumen, meaning 'shine' and 'light'. They are so bright and loving, like your eyes.

No, I'm not a first year student. It's actually a bit complicated, but I've been watching you for a while. When I first saw you, it was very crowded, so you couldn't tell who I was, but believe me, your sky blue eyes were noticeable even in that crowd. And you are as cute as your name.

Would you like to meet? I feel more ready and we can meet up if you want, but I bet my hair will be redder than ever.
When she finished writing the letter, she carefully tied it to Lumi's leg and caressed her beak. "Nice to meet you. You're really sweet."

Hm....meeting? Pam frowned thinking about it. She wouldn't really mind. In fact she was extremely curious about who this girl was. Pam liked her a lot. She was nice and friendly, and Pam was always open to making new friends.

Mostly.

She wondered when they could meet. Finding out a date seemed more difficult than deciding where to meet. She already had some ideas about the latter. Well, she would ask Lena in her next letter. Perhaps she would have some good ideas.

As for where they could meet....well Pam's first thought was Hogsmeade. It was a popular location among the students and Pam herself quite loved the place. Maybe they could meet at Three Broomsticks? Or maybe Honeydukes? Pam could never get enough of Honeydukes. Oh, the sweets. Okay, she was getting ahead of herself.

Lena,
I'm glad you like her! She's quite pretty isn't she? I was so glad when I found her. I did not know that Lumi meant snow in Finnish. I came up with it as derived from Luna, which generally means "moon" in Latin. It's also the name of the Roman Goddess of the moon.

I'm more than willing to meet up if you'd like! I was thinking maybe somewhere in Hogsmeade? Also, do you have any specific day in mind when you would like to meet?
