Arden walked through the streets of Diagon alley, gaze sweeping over the variety of shops the street held. Arden had visited diagon alley plenty of times before, but most of those were just accompanying their father to gringotts or picking up a specific book. It felt different on the hazy summer morning as Arden walked through the street, aunt Cecilia at their side, looking over the list of required items. ‘’Hmm, you should go get your wand first and foremost’’ Their aunt’s smooth voice reached their ears, causing Arden to look up at the older witch.

Arden remembered their talk with their father, discussing whether Arden should see if any of the family wands suited them or they should go get their own wand. Arden had wanted to try bonding with any of the family wands, but their father had been rather worried that using a family wand would hold Arden back. Eventually the subject had been dropped and their father concluded that Arden could try the family wands if none of the wands Ollivanders presented chose them.

‘’Ollivanders wasn’t it? founded in..382 B.C, owned by the Ollivander family’’ Arden’s voice stuttered for a moment before recalling the year. Their attention focused on their aunt as she let out a warm chuckle, reaching out a hand and ruffling Arden’s hair. A sly grin spread out on Arden’s face as they ducked their head away from the thin fingers after a moment of. ‘’Yes, the best wandmakers is Great Britain.’’ Aunt Cecilia quoted, motioning with her hand as she spoke. Arden reached their hand to their head, brushing their head with their fingers as they listened. Aunt Cecilia let out a small huff before retorting, ‘’I swear you are becoming even more of your fathers child with every visit.’’ Small smile on the older witch’s face as she shooed the younger one down the street. ‘’Now go on, go get your wand and i’ll gather go gather those extra books your father was so insistent on’’

With that Arden nodded and continued their confident steps through the street. Few shop windows caught their attention before Arden forced their gaze to move on. Arriving in front of Ollivanders, they pushed the door open. Arden entered the shop. Taking in the walls lined with shelves full of wand boxes, a man was shuffling some boxes behind the counter before looking up. ‘’Well hello there, looking for a wand are you?’’ He asked. Arden nodded in response, walking forward as their gaze wandered the shop walls. ‘’Indeed i am’’ Arden spoke after a moment of silence, directing their attention back to the man.

‘’Very well then, give this a wave of your hand.’’ The man’s voice was calm, hand picking a box from one of the shelves, presenting Arden with a pale wand which bended slightly at the tip. Arden took the wand gently, feeling it out before flicking it in the air like they had seen their father do. Once the wand produced nothing, the man shook his head and took the wand back.

‘’Hm, try this one then.’’ He spoke once again, presenting another wand. Arden took the wand, this one thin and with a green handle, somehow it felt unusually cold in their hands. After flicking the wand in the air, it once again produced nothing. The man placed the wand back in its box before turning to the shelves. ‘’Well no need to hurry, I am sure we will find just the right wand for you’’ the man spoke, picking out another box.

Arden’s eye wandered over to the box, examining the wand once it was shown. The wand was light brown and Arden’s eyes were drawn to the wood's spiral-like pattern. Arden gently picked it up, holding it with both hands for a moment. It was thin and the dark leather handle felt comfortable in their hand. Raising the wand and giving it a flick, Arden felt a surge of wonder as an almost star-like stream of sparks emerged from the wand.

‘’32,1 inches chestnut wood and unicorn hair. Reasonably springly, enjoys novelty and inventiveness, it will choose a curious-minded and independent wizard.’’ the man recited, Arden’s turning towards him as they tried to memorize every word. Their wand still held gently in their hand, Arden beginning to absentmindedly fiddling with the wand already.

Arden quickly thanked the man, swiftly paying the cost of the wand. Walking out of the shop, a small smile on their face as they held the wand container tightly in their hands. They supposed they would have to get another container for the wand, Arden quite disliked the one provided, but there certainly would be some older ones that Arden could use in the family vault or storage. With that thought in mind, they were content to go find their aunt.
