Unfamiliar owl&forgotten letters

| IC time: cloudy day in the summer of 2024 |
| Location:Somewhere in Northumberland |
A cloudy weather in Northumberland marked the day of the Rosethorn’s return to their estate. Arden held their hat in place as the wind ruffled the grass around the large property, walking forward as they crossed the wards that kept the property hidden from muggle sight. Tension seeped from their shoulders as their gaze landed on the familiar sight, finally home.
Father quickly spelled their luggage, no need to bother carrying it now that there was no chance for muggles to spot them within the wards. The large bags of luggage were floating behind them as the pair began to approach the building. Arden settled on the porch, falling down to one of the large comfortable chairs. Gaze sweeping over the sight that was the almost endless looking grasslands as the sound of the house elf, Vanny, retrieving the luggage escaped their notice. Leaning their head on their hands as they observed the cloud covered sky, the sun in the distance slowly falling down beneath the grassy hills.
A flying figure caught Arden’s eye as they raised their head from the sight of the sunfall. With narrowed eyes they rised from their seat, leaning against the dark wooden railing. Father raising a brow at the younger's actions, moving their gaze to the sky. ‘’Are we expecting any letters from anyone?..’’ Arden asked, brows furrowing as they tried to think of a reason why they would be receiving owl letter’s so soon, their attention focused on what seemed to be a normal barn owl that they didn’t recognize. It couldn’t be a letter from their aunt, considering she used a northern hawk-owl to send her usual letters.
Father looked just as confused as Arden for a moment, before an amused grin spread on his face, realizing what the letter must be. Arden looked back to their father, now even more confused as they noticed their father’s amused demeanor. ‘’..did i forget something important or..?’’ Arden groaned, looking slightly sheepish before turning to the barn owl that had now landed on the wooden railing. Arden swiftly approached the owl, untying the letter from its leg, before holding the letter to their eyes.
Arden’s eyes widened slightly as they realized what the letter was, leaning one hand against the armrest of the chair. ‘’..How did I forget that I would get my Hogwarts letter!’’ Arden ranted, more to themself than to anyone else. Pinching the bridge of their nose as they took a deep breath, sinking into the comfortable chair as they opened the letter. Quietly reading it as Vanny brought tea to the porch area, father already sipping a warm teacup as Arden finished reading the letter. Arden handed the parchment to their father, who began to examine the list of needed items. Arden taking the remaining cup of tea, blowing on its surface to cool down the liquid before drinking it in small careful sips.
‘’Would you like to do your school shopping with Aunt Cecilia?’’ Father suggested, folding the parchment back into its envelope before setting it on the small table that was between their respective chairs. Arden perked up at his words, lowering the teacup from their lips down to their lap, enjoying its warmth spreading through their naturally cold hands. ‘’Of course, if she comes back from Monaco soon enough for that..’’ Arden answered firmly, straightening up slightly.
Arden’s father just nodded at the response, soon rising from his chair as darkness began to take over the sky. ‘’I’m heading to my study, do not be out too long’’ Father chuckled slightly, the large wooden door opening by itself with the tap of their father’s wand as he headed inside. Arden only let out a brief hum of acknowledgement, their gaze focused on the night sky as the stars began to shine. Their tea slowly cooled down as the breeze gained a slight chill, accompanying the moon as it began to rise.
