For the second time in Kiera’s life, she got aboard the Hogwarts express signifying the start of a new year. It had only been a year since she had last done this, but it felt like it had been forever. As she boarded the train, she ran her fingers softly along the walls, sensing that familiar feeling she had felt a year ago today.

Something about the train just felt so magical, maybe because it really was her first experience of magic. Kiera, being the adventurous person she is, was always open to new opportunities and people, so she purposely chose an empty compartment. This way, anyone was welcome to join her, and maybe she could make some new friends!

Once Kie got herself situated in her seat, she pulled out her journal. Her journal was where she documented all of the important or bug parts of her life. Kie considered moments like these important ones, so she started writing. She wrote about being back on the train, her hopes for this new year, her goals, everything. Kiera was a pretty quick writer, so she was done in no time. Now all that was left was a new person to join her, or even an old friend.

Calm. That's how she presented herself currently, especially with both her parents standing beside her as the walk towards the train; However, on the inside she was beyond nervous, What if I don't get into Slytherin? What if I don't do well in my studies? she could blame her parents for her current nervousness, them and their high expectations. There was one person she wished was here, her grandmother, but someone had to stay with her brother Mathias so "he wasn't around so many muggles" as her father said. Fortunately she was able to at least say goodbye to the elderly Parlow before she left the house.

As they got to the door to the train her father’s voice picked up, "Make us proud," only to be followed by her mother's, "We have a lot riding on you." Theodora simply gave them a nod and a small goodbye before climbing aboard and straightening her blouse. She had worn a dark green, nearly black blouse with a black calf length skirt, around her neck was a parting gift from her grandmother, a deep red ruby on a sliver chain.

As she made her way down the corridor, she looked for either an empty or near empty compartment, before finally finding one and slipping in. Her voice was soft, and almost shy as she spoke to the blonde girl that was already inside, "Good Morning, would I be able to join you?"

Her gaze was slightly down turned as her hands gripped one another, and with a small curtsy she spoke again, "I am Theodora.
Theodora Parlow."

To Kiera’s delight, it didn’t take long before someone came up to her. “Morning! Yeah of course, here come sit” she gestured to the seat across from her. “Hi Theodora, I’m Kiera, but you can just call me Kie if you’d like”.

Kie’s main tactic when meeting new role was to seem super friendly and open, welcoming them. Theodora’s eyes suggested that she may not be fully comfortable, or she was just distracted. Kie wanted her to feel comfortable, so she tried to keep some of the small talk going.

“So, is this your first year? I don’t think I’ve seen you around anywhere” she asked the girl, with a warm smile on her face. She remembered her first year, it being only a few months in the past. It was scary at first, a little girl in a really, really big school. There was so much going on, but she quickly learned that there was nothing to be scared of.

More than anything, she was super excited to go back now. Kie was one of the biggest fans of summer, but even thought out those warm months, she always thought of Hogwarts. Not the school and homework part of course, but all of the friends and memories she made there. She was sure Theodora could be one of those new friends too.

Theodora sat across from the blonde, her for rigid, sitting straight like she was taught. The girl across from her definitely seemed... friendly, much warmer then most people she knew, though to be fair, that was a short list. "Yes, Ma'am, I am a first year," her voice while steady, still held enough of a shakiness to suggest she was nervous. Theodora looked to the girl's robes and saw the yellow badger of Hufflepuff, "What year are you, miss? And did you think you'd be Hufflepuff? Before you were sorted I mean."

She looked out the window as she waited for the answer and for the train to start moving, I guess I should get to know her, we'll be sitting with one another a long while, her heterochromatic eyes find her cabin mate again, "where are you from? I'm from Hillingdon." As she spoke her fingers played with the ruby pendant around her neck out of nervousness, feeling the need of having someone close.

As they talked the whistle blew and the train lurched forward as it started moving, farther from her family and everything she ever knew, Thank God for that, I hope Admetus takes care of himself. A part of her relaxed as they left London proper.

Kie was slightly confused at the girl in front of hers formalness, even though she was only a year younger. She laughed ”there’s no need to call me ‘miss’, most of my friends just call me Kie” she said. “Ooh, bring a first year is super fun, I’m going into my second now. Yeah I was pretty sure, I feel like it definitely fits me. What house do you think you’ll be? Or that you want to be” she questioned.

Kie could tell the girl seemed a little bit on edge, or maybe that’s just how she always is, she wasn’t sure. She definitely tried to keep her friendliness up though, wanting to make Theodora feel comfortable and welcome. “I’m from Nottingham, England” she replied “how’s Hillingdon? Is it nice? I’ve never been”. Kie subtly watched at Theodora toyed with the necklace handing from her. She assumed it was a nervous thing. “I love your necklace by the way, it’s super cute, where did you get it?” she asked, smiling. One thing Kiera was always good at was talking to people, apart from summer and the beach, it was her next favourite thing. She knew how to watch for cues on what to say next, and when a person was feeling uneasy.

The train let out a loud whistle. ‘And we’re off’ she thought.
