Siobhan hadn't expected to take up residency under the trees on the grounds, but by jove she would if it meant that it would stop the naer-do-wells who had been carving these- these- these horrific marks into the poor trees across the barrier into the Forbidden Forest. The tree-hugger in her was howling in frustration as she walked along the border, examining the bark, watching the sap seep out of the fresh wounds someone had so carelessly and crudely left in their wake.

Her fingers trailed across the marks, jagged and sharp, as she tried to pinpoint what had caused the breakage of the outside as she walked away from the castle. How was it that someone could be so cruel to a plant that phyiscally could do no damage to an individual- barring the fact that the Grounds of Hogwarts was home to a willow tree with an ill-mannered and temperatic disposition. Truthfully it was one of her favorite discoveries that she had made while wandering the grounds in search of riends. She had found if she stood about fifty to seventy-five feet away, she could have a decent conversation before the tree would insist on shooing her off, it's temperate limbs in search of something to hit.

Today though- it seemed her own normally even temper would match that of the historic and frankly marvelous tree, as she was all set to fight the next person that she saw who would encounter one of the trees on the barrier. How could her classmates and schoolmates be so cruel? It was bad enough that she was one of very few vegetarians and had to lobby for meals suited to her taste to be added to the menu at the end of the Gryffindor tables- but now to know that ruffians were destroying property? Despicable!

Siobhan huffed out a jet of cold air as she found a second, third, fourth even FIFTH tree that bore these scrapings on the their rough oaky barks. This was simply too much. She had to do something.

She pulled her trusty reading blanket out of her side bag and settled down within the arms of the roots of a tree. She leaned back and closed her eyes, trying to mediate her anger and frustration towards whoever had done these dishonorable acts. She could not face whoever it was without believing that whomever approached her or the trees themselves would have been the responsible party- causing these hurtful marks across her trees. As she settled, she listened to the world around her, the wistful wind and it's calming presence that stung her nose with every breath of the clear Scottish air that she took within her lungs. She could visualize thebreaths curling within her and the exhales would produce a smoky white color as she blew life back into the air.

She was thankful for the trees, and sent her gratitude through her fingertips towards the roots that so comfortably held her, silent in their thanks for her protection. Somehow, deep deep within her subconscious, she could feel the undisbutable thanks for her actions resonating from deep within the core of the plant. This wasn't a new feeling- she had always been able to sense whenever plants were happy or whenever they needed slightly more love and care than normal. These trees were begging through their rooted system for someone to come and keep them from encountering the harmful hand of a human- especially one wielding something meticulous and sharp.

If it meant a pink berry color to her fingers for a few hours then fine. It was the least she could do if it meant keeping her planted friends safe. So what if she was considered a nut? She didn't care-

Sort of...

Her ears remained open while her heart and eyes remained closed to the outside perspective that existed. She would catch whoever it was and give them a good what for once she found out whoever was up to this hideoscious deed.

Speech -- Thoughts

Pam hummed a random tune to herself as she walked through the grounds. It wasn't really a random tune, it was one she had heard from her roommate. Ira was clearly a big fan of the ........and would often amusement Pam by randomly breaking into song. She was a pretty good singer when she felt like singing properly, but tended to sound like a wounded crow when she was just belting words at the top of her lungs.

Winter was setting in quickly and it was chilly, a cold wind causing Pam to shiver slightly. She pulled her jacket tighter around her body, walking faster down the path. The grounds were peaceful when it was not crowded. And they always felt fresh and rejuvenating, maybe because of the trees?

Talking about trees.... Pam's eyes wrinkled as they fell on the cracks on the tree barks, sap seeping out of the wounds freshly inflicted on the strong earthly browns.

"What on earth happened?" Pam muttered, her fingers carefully grazing one of the cuts. Pam had never been a big plant person. Although, for her it was less of a tree problem and more of a problem with the insects which came hand-in-hand with said trees. Pam generally attempted to keep as much distance as possible from all kinds of insects.

Even then, it annoyed her to see such wounds on the tree barks. Obviously done by some person. Catch them and drown them in the Great Lake. Pam was never one to deal violence to problems, courtesy of her father. It did not stop her from wanting to throw some well-aimed punches though. She clicked her tongue, turning to leave and then stopped after noticing a girl sitting on the ground, leaning against the trunk of one of the trees.

Siobhan looked up with a red and quite puffy nose at the girl who had wandered over to where her residence was. She observed the girl for a moment before returning to her vigilant observing of the students who walked the grounds. She heard the girl murmer something, and deep down she knew that it couldn't possibly be the one who had made these hurtful remarks and physical atrocities on the trees.

For starters, she seemed equally confused about what had happened and was also sitting underneath one of the trees. Siobhan had guesstimated that the perpetrator would have continued to mark up the trees, thus revealing them to be the stain truflais that they were. Secondly, (yes, secondly), this girl in the nicest way possible- was too mouse like in order to have made any of the marks. Why, Siobhan was nearly without a doubt almost a foot taller than this girl and would have done more damage to the trees than the girls wet sock could.

Since this girl was participating in exactly, none of the revalations she had so carefully thought about it clearly could not be her. Therefore, the sleuth inside of her knew that this girl was not (and likely never would be) the attacker of the trees. She was safe from the wrath of Siobhan's potent flavors of herbalism...

For now.

Siobhan looked up at the girl, continuing to observe her with all but a face of scrutiny as she mentally interrogated the girl. Why was she here? Did she see something? If she did and wasn't saying anything then not only was she suspicious, but she was also an accomplice to whoever had done it. SIobhan stood up and stalked closer to the girl, trying to gather her attention without outwardly calling out- for fear that the tree-mishaper, she hadn't settled on an appropriate moniker yet, was out and about... Lingering in the shadows and waiting for her to drop her newly appropriated vigil.

Siobhan ended up standing over the girl, quite literally looking down at her and looking for the correct and polite words to speak and to ask her the questions that she had, swimming around in her noodle.

"Excuse me. This part of the forest is injured. What are you here for?" were the words that Siobhan settled on as she crossed her arms and let out an accompanying crisp huff. Her breath was a snowy white that practically camoflauged itself against the bareness of the trees.

"While I doubt you are the one who made these marks on the trees, I am trying to catch the person responsible. Please don't draw attention to yourself so that I may do so- Siobhan quipped as she turned to move away from the girl. She felt somewhat guilty for being so direct, however it had to be done. Perhaps this girl KNEW the perpetrator and had some sort of secret signal to give whomever it was that was destroying the trees and was waiting for Siobhan to become distracted. Dia damnaigh é! Had she fallen for this rouse?

She started moving back towards where she believed the first marks had been made and continued her investigation.

Hi Pamela! I hope you don't mind that Siobhan is a little stern at the moment. I promise she isn't like this all the time

Speech -- Thoughts

Pam had been so distracted that she didn't notice the girl before the latter was standing over her with a not-so-friendly expression on her face. It would probably have been intimidating, if it wasn't ruined by the red bob which happened to be her nose. It reminded her of the Christmas Carol she had heard of Rudolf the Reindeer. Which made her want to laugh a little, so she distracted herself quickly. Of course, the next Pam noted was her height.

Gosh, she's a giraffe.

The girl was indeed very tall. She was either a third year or an extremely tall second year. Either way, since Pam herself did not reach even close to 5 feet, she felt mega tiny next to this girl. She blinked at the girl as she told her, in no uncertain terms to more or less leave her alone. Or at least, that's what Pam assumed she meant. She shrugged, turning and walking over to a tree a little distance away from the girl. She was probably overthinking, but the girl was scary, and Pam had no major desire to interact with her when she was so obviously in a bad mood.

She would run away, but unfortunately, Pam had an agenda. As her father told her (and she absolutely did not agree), it was necessary to get fresh air once in the while, and apparently, air in your common room dorm was not fresh. Pam never did really understand that specific part of his mindset.

Well, best to not worry about how my dad's mind works. It would get me nowhere. Pam spread her books in front of her, as she sat down leaning against the trunk of a tree, away from the sights of the girl from before. Hopefully, I'll get some work done
