Potions Championship II Bringing the Energy Closed

The Potions Championship was a dream reason for Irina to return to Hogwarts. She had the opportunity to prove the strength of Koldovstoretz’s potions program and her potioneering skills before moving onto her career in the summer. The hope was to pursue a career within the potions field and potentially create new potions one day, so this championship could significantly boost her chances of getting an international career. Regardless, Irina was just here to put her best potions forward and crush all the competition.

For her second potion, Irina thought a long time before deciding on the Vitamix Potion. She had to find something complementary to the shrinking solution and thought heightened energy and reactions might just be the thing. Irina could be tiny and hopefully powerful by the time she got to handling the Swooping Evil.

Arriving at the ingredient shelves again, Irina quickly grabbed standard ingredient, essence of wormwood, 2 heads of asphodel root, dried aconite, armadillo bile, and a melting rock. Everything that was needed to make the Vitamix Potion was in Irina’s arms because she wouldn’t have a chance to turn away from her potion once it started. Walking back to her station, Irina almost dropped one of the heads of asphodel root looking around at other people’s potions, yet was able to hold on until she reached her station. Dumping the ingredients on her table, Irina immediately put her copper cauldron on medium heat and got started on her potion brewing.

Taking out her mortar and pestle, Irina added one and a half measures of standard ingredient and three normal drops of wormwood essence. Happy with her measurements she crushed the ingredients together using the mortar until a thick paste was reached. Next, she added the paste into her already preheated cauldron and continued to increase the heat until a medium grey was reached. Then, moving both of her asphodel root heads to her cutting board, Irina used her knife to precisely dice the asphodel and then scrape it into the cauldron with as much lost juice as possible.

Increasing the heat of the potion again, Irina watched as it turned from grey to a deep red. She was delighted by the progress thus far and kept going by adding the dried aconite until the red shifted into an orange color. Next, Irina placed the melting rock into the cauldron and continued to heat the cauldron until it shifted from orange to a lovely turquoise color. Then she grabbed her pliers and reached in to take the melting rock out of the cauldron. The properties of the rock’s use in potion making always fascinated Irina and she felt lucky to get to demonstrate its use in front of international judges.

Heating the potion once more, Irina brought the color back to red and then finished the potion by adding three measures of the armadillo bile. Content with her potion, Irina announced "Potion, complete." for a second time that day. She was proud of her brewing and ready to face the swooping evil with her potions in hand. It was time she proved that her and Koldovstoretz were the better potioneers than the rest of the world.
