Speech -- Thoughts

The Great Lake looked dreadfully inviting.

Had Pam ever told anyone she loved the cold? Yes you have, this is getting repetitive. She shook her head at her own thoughts, her internal monologue during winter was always confessing it's undying love for the season. Her friends were probably already sick of her. Welp, it was not her fault. If anything, it was winter's fault for being too pretty.

Today though, she was out with a purpose which was not aweing over the greenery (was whitery a thing? She would have to search it up). She finished securing her shoes and sat up, glancing around. She had chosen her time we'll. The place was mostly empty, which suited her perfectly. Ice skating was a sort of guilty pleasure for her; she wasn't sure why, but she had never told anyone that she liked it.

The brainwave had been her father's. And she was glad for it, for the frozen Great Lake was, by far, the best skating rink she had come across (well, it wasn't technically a rink, right?) Pam inhaled and pushed herself off the snow, slipping on the ice and nearly falling over. No, no— She stood up straight, ears burning in embarrassment. That was the main reason she was glad it was empty. She hoped no-one had seen her flap her hands like a penguin.

She looked around at the others also skating on the ice. Some of them seemed experienced while some were clearly newbies (hint: wobbly legs). Her eyes scanned some of the older students, feeling impressed. Well, she'd be as proficient as them one day!

December was probably one of Tracey's favorite months. Why? Well, because winter was one of her favorite seasons. She loves the snow and how pretty the environment is once the winter season hits. She also loves Christmas. The joy of giving something homemade or just giving your loved ones a present is something Tracey enjoys a lot.

She loves spending the holidays with her family, but last year, she had stayed at Hogwarts during the winter holidays in order to explore the castle. But, this year, she'll be returning home for the holidays.

Tracey loves all the winter activities that come along with the winter season, but one of them she hadn't done before, or she hadn't done in a really long time, ice skating.

When Tracey was younger, she would always ice skate, or at least try to, with her parents. And she was supposed to ice skate last year, but she completely forgot about it.

Grabbing her skates, Tracey made her way down from Ravenclaw tower to the Great Lake. Tracey sat down on a bench and watched as students were ice skating. Seeing the older students skating, she was amazed by how good they are.

Tracey began to put on her skates. Once her skates were on, she got up and walked over to the lake, which is now an ice rink. As soon as Tracey stepped onto the ice, she fell. She tried to get up, but kept on falling. Tracey gave up and just sat there. Hopefully someone would see her and help her out.

Speech -- Thoughts

Pam's nose had probably started to freeze. It definitely didn't stop her from skating across the Lake as fast as she could though. If anything, she loved the feeling of the wind on her face.

Pam was glad that the Great Lake had frozen enough to allow skating on it. When they had figured out that she was going to Hogwarts, her father had pulled her out of the ice skating coaching centre where she had been learning for the past two and a half years, and she had been pretty upset about it. She had wanted to become as good as a professional. Like literally, she had seen seniors in the centre practically run across the ice on their skates like it was a normal road and she wanted to be THAT good. Maybe I can ask one of the older students here to teach me. At that thought, Pam swept her eyes over the people, trying to find someone who could teach her, Perhaps I can come again when there are more people.

Pam stopped abruptly on her tracks as her eyes fell on a black haired girl, maybe a year older to her, sitting on the ice, a desolate expression on her face.

"Huh. She probably fell." Pam muttered. She remembered her first day on the ice, she had ended up with a number of bruises on her hands and legs. Not her most favourite of memories. Making up her mind, she moved over to her, "Hey, are you alright? Do you need help?" She asked, holding out a hand for the girl.

As Tracey just sat there on the cold ice, she was starting to get cold, and she really wanted to start moving. Hearing a voice, Tracey turned her head and saw a younger girl offering her her hand. Tracey took the younger girls hand, and smiled at her. Tracey was glad the younger girl had helped. Once she was standing on the ice. She let go of the younger girls hand and said,
"Thanks for the help. Um, I thought I wouldn't fall right away. I guess I'm not so good on the ice as I thought,"

Tracey rubbed the back of her neck in embarrassment and her hair also turned from black to medium violet red, a color Tracey hasn't had her hair before. But once her embarrassment passed, her hair went back to black.

Tracey then decided that she wanted to try and skate, so she slowly began to start to skate. She took baby steps first but slowly started to skate. She was skating slow for now since she didn't want to fall. She then tried to stop. She successfully stopped and skated over to the younger girl and said,
"Hey, wanna skate with me? I'm Tracey Bailey. What's your name?"

Pam giggled as the girl thanked her, clearly embarrassed as she rubbed her neck. She started to say that she had been equally bad, when the girl's hair changed into a brilliant violet-ish red, making Pam totally forget what she had been saying and her mouth falling open in awe, "Omg, that's so cool! Are you a metamorphmagus?"

Pam smiled at the girl, watching as she stood up properly and did some slow laps around the ice near her. She was a novice, Pam could tell that by her wobbly legs, but she could also tell that this was not her first time on the ice. A person could not skate even a little on their first day, unless they had a genetic talent for ice skating (or so her Coach had said). Pam would be extremely jealous if that was the case with this girl.

The girl stopped close to her, and introduced herself. "Nice to meet you, Tracey. I'm Pam." She glanced down at her skates as the girl's legs wobbled a little. Her instincts shouted at her to reach out and steady her, but Pam was not the type to touch someone without their permission. Besides, even if she had less skating skills, Tracey was ten times better at steadying herself than Pam had been when she had started out. She probably didn't even need her help. She said softly, "Sure, I'll join you!"

Tracey didn't even notice that her hair color had changed, but all she knew is that she liked the color. Hearing the girl who helped her speak, Tracey slowly nodded her head before she said,
"Yes, I'm a metaphor. I use my ability to change my hair color each month! Next month I'm going blonde with blue tips. It's honestly a cool ability. Maybe i'll choose the violet red color for one of the months next year,"

If Tracey had let her ability slip last year, she would be afraid of what others think about it, but now, she's fine with showing people her ability, not in a way to show off. She didn't want to seem like she was a show off.

"Nice to meet you too, Pam. I'm glad you'll join me. Shall we start off slow?" Tracey says to the girl named Pam.

Tracey was glad that Pam wanted to join her in skating. This way, Tracey could talk to Pam more and maybe get another first year friend. Tracey proceeded to start to slowly skate again hoping not to fall flat on her face or butt. She didn't want to break any bones, but she knew that ice skating was pretty dangerous, especially with how hard it is to gain balance while on ice if someone doesn't have any lessons.

Pam's eyes widened in surprise as the girl confirmed her suspicions, "Oh my god, that's so cool! Do you really change your hair colour that often?" Pam would kill to have that kind of ability. Her father would probably have a fit though if he found her changing her hair every week. She had always liked the idea of having different colors and styles of hair. But she had learnt that coloring one's hair too often was harmful. And she loved her hair way too much to put it through any kind of torture.

Well that is what it was in the muggle world atleast. Maybe there was something in the Magical world which would make it not harmful? She'd love it if that were true. And there would be nothing stopping her then.

"We can start now." She agreed, watching Tracey skate away from her, slowly and carefully. Pam smiled lightly at the sight, That's gives me deja vu. She liked the girl. She was friendly, and not as scary as some of the other older students she had seen. She moved over to join her, catching up to her easily, "Would you like some help?" She asked, "Have you skated before?"

"Yes, I really do! My childhood friend told me to change it once a year, but I don't feel like doing that," Tracey says.

It's true, when Tracey had sent an owl to Mateo telling him all about her ability, she even told him that once she had gotten complete control over her ability, she'd change her hair color every month. Mateo had told her not to, and to only change it once a year, but she didn't want to.

Tracey liked changing her hair color each month. She was experimenting, seeing what colors suited her and what colors didn't. Tracey continued to slowly skate away, and since she was skating slowly, Pam had easily caught up to her.

Tracey wasn't feeling confident to go faster, so she continued with her pace and tried her best to keep her legs straight and not wobbly. Tracey turned to look at Pam when she heard her speak. She then said,
"I've skated a few times back in the muggle world, that was when I was really young. But I think I forgot how to skate. I don't think I need help now, but thanks for the offer,"

Since Tracey was skating slowly, she didn't need any help, but if she had been skating faster, she probably would be needing help to stop, since she probably wouldn't be able to control her speed and might crash into something or someone.

Pam laughed at that. "I have a feeling I'd end up changing it every day if I ended up with the same power. I've always wanted to color my hair." She watched her keep skating, trying to keep her legs from moving out of control and Pam took a while to glance around at the others skating there, before turning her attention back to the girl before her.

She's going at a good speed though, Pam mused, She would smack into someone if she had been going any faster. Probably. The number of times that had happened with her, Pam had lost count.

She pouted, feeling rather restless. Isn't this too slow? I wanna do some spins and fall on my butt. Pam shook her head at herself, No you don't. You're gonna be nice and stay with her. Being petty was not something she often was, but she had her moments. And she was definitely being petty at the moment, because she couldn't even properly do spins.

She suddenly remembered what Tracey told her a few minutes ago and asked out of curiosity, "Were you raised in a muggle setting? Does that mean you're a muggleborn?" Pam wasn't exactly sure how many muggleborns she had met. One of her closer friends was a Muggleborn, but other than that? She wasn't really sure.

"Why don't you add in highlights into your hair? Y'know, take it slow with the hair dying. Don't bleach it. Just buy dye from a muggle store, that is if you grew up in the muggle world," Tracey says in reply to what Pam said.

While Tracey was living in the muggle world from age 6 to 10, Tracey had seen boxes containing hair dye and if she didn't have her ability, she probably would've used one of the boxes. But she wasn't sure if those worked or not.

After getting the hang of skating slow, Tracey began to go faster since she was pretty sure that Pam was getting bored. A thought came into her mind and she decided to say it out loud so she said,
"Pam, if you want to do spins, you can go ahead. I'm just trying to find a comfortable speed for me to skate,"

Hearing Pam ask if Tracey was a muggleborn, she shook her head before she decided to reply what Pam had said by saying,
"No, I'm not a muggleborn. I'm a half-blood. My mom's a pureblood and a metamorph like me, but she was a Gryffindor. And my father is a muggleborn born and was a Slytherin. Since I was born until I was 6 I lived in the wizarding world. Then from age 6 to 10 I lived in the muggle world with my dad and his parents. Then I came back to the wizarding world when I was 10. So I attended muggle school for most of my life,"
