Letters Home!
To: Mrs Anna McStately, Mr Charles McStately, Mr Angus McStately
From: Miss Louisa McStately
Date: 18th of December
Dearest Mother, Father and Angus,
It seems so long since I saw you all last! And, oh how I have missed you all. Hogwarts is so very wonderful! I’m sure you would love it here very much! I would have written earlier, but mother made me promise to focus on my studies and fitting into the school. But now I shall write!
Firstly, I hope this letter was delivered safely to you! In the wizarding world it is quite normal to have an owl deliver your letters, so please do not feel concerned. If you are fast enough, you might be able to send your response back via this owl, but in a few days I will send you a little something for Christmas! (Yes, Angus, your presents!) And if you have a responding letter you can deliver it back with that owl. And for Angus, yes you may pet him gently please!
Now, Hogwarts! It is really quite wonderful! I am sure you would be very impressed with my grades, all O’s (best grade) except one which I was a little tired submitting anyway. As for sports, only yesterday did I sign up for the school Quidditch team as a Chaser. (I will explain the rules another time). But, I will be soon waitlisted for that! And, I have joined SPEW (Society for the Protection of Elfish Welfare). And I also helped with a little Christmas service of decorating the school! Anyway, I will tell you more another time.
Father, I hope work is going well! Do tell me all about it! I do miss you! (Also I hope you like your gift, I had to send it today because I was worried that the owl mightn’t be able to carry three presents).
Mother, I miss you heaps too! I hope your work is good and do tell me about the school, will you? I miss you so very much!
Angus, do be good for mother and father will you? But don’t worry, I’m not going to lecture you! How’s football going? You better be winning! And how’s school? And Christmas? And your friends? And when you write back please use your neat hand writing, or get mother or father to write for you! I miss you too!
Anyway, I wish you all a merry Christmas, and I will try to join you next holidays or if I’m aloud to maybe even later these ones! For now lots of love and please write back. (Just attach the letters to the owls foot!)
Sincerely,
Louisa McStately

Dear Mother, Father and Angus,
Thank you so much for all all your presents! I loved them all so very much! You all did a wonderful job with using the owl to deliver the letter! I know you probably miss me and I certainly miss you! But, I apologize mother, I don’t regret staying here as it has been truly wonderful! I have been practicing for when school resumes and I’m sure I shall keep my O grade average.
Just because I know how interested my dear father and mother will be and how bored little Angus shall be. O (Outstanding) is the highest grade. E (Exceeds Expectations) comes next. Then the final passing grade is an A (Acceptable). Then there are the fail grades P (Poor) D (Dreadful) T (Troll)! I assure you I am all passing grades. And as I wrote in another letter, apart from one grade I am all Os. Now I’d better stop writing with the promise that you shall get more letters from me soon.
Love,
Louisa McStately
