Delightful Distractions
It had been a long time since Mae had done anything except study, and she was finally on her way to a long-awaited outing: the Ravenclaw House Cup Party. While passing through the small hall, Mae noticed a seemingly kind-faced Hufflepuff girl. She sported pearl earrings and, at her feet, stylish and modern lilac Adidas shoes. Mae liked them.
Compared to Mae's own clothes, they were the color she had never known. Purple, yellow, all managed to have been squeezed in with her shoes or hair. So, Mae gathered up the will to talk to her.
"Hello, I don't believe we've met," Mae began. "My name is Mae Reeds. And you are?" Mae waited for her response hopefully, that maybe this would be one of her more smooth relationships, like Sariel. Talking with her was easy, maybe the same would hold true with this willowy girl. So tall was she that Mae had to wonder exactly which year she was in. The small hall, adorned with a fireplace and many, many paintings, it was Mae's favorite place to stop when traveling to and fro her classes. Mae, though excited to get to her party up at the Divination room, was also excited to meet this girl. In her time at Hogwarts, Mae had met many interesting people, and could not wait to meet some more.

Delightful Distractions
Yong leaned her back against one of the brick walls belonging to the school's Small Hall. In her hands was her leather journal she had received a while ago, and she was looking back at her diary entries and letters that would hopefully not be sent, and drawings and notes. There was a lot of things in there, despite its small size. The school was quiet and calm, other than the occasional chuckle or trail of footsteps. Tonight was the Ravenclaw House Cup Party, and she would have expected more people rushing through to where ever the party was.
Some time, when Yong was nearing her most recent piece of work in the journal, a stream of footsteps that was passing her came to a pause near her. She didn't want to look away from the journal and stare because, as she had been taught, that would be rude. If her mother should see her do it, she could be shouted at. And no one likes being shouted at, I'm sure. As if the person had read Yong's thoughts, they walked up seemingly all confident to her. Due to this action, Yong only thought it polite to pay attention to them, so she raised her head.
It was a girl, from Ravenclaw, who was around her own height. She had long, lush gold looking brown hair, and swirling blue eyes. Although there were many things to look at, the one thing that caught Yong's sight was a small scar; it wasn't really noticeable, but she had always been complimented for her 'good eyesight'. Despite those words, she never thought her site was extraordinary. This girl seemed caring, and, from what she had introduced her self as, her name showed that trait too. Mae Reeds. It seemed quite Springy. As in the season, not the adjective. "It is nice to meet you Mae, my name is Kim Yong," Yong replied exchanging a smile and bowing slightly. Still habits from Daegu were lingering from the Summer Holidays

The girl replied kindly, introducing herself as Kim Yong. She was very tall, I simply couldn't get over that. "What do you think of Hogwarts so far?" I asked her. A busy week it had been, and I cannot tell you what a relief it is to escape. Not only filled with labor, but also an excessive amount of drama, and social stress. For instance, my account with Quinn Healy. I mean, was the boy incapable of letting things go? Yes, I did know he was only trying to help, but...
Well, there I am, head in the clouds again. My eyes leaped to her journal, small yet stuffed with everything that can be put in a journal. Suddenly, I felt her soft eyes staring at my scar. I turned my cheek. "For me, it's been an amazing experience so far. I mean, from classes to the Grounds, to the parties, it's been amazing. The people are really amazing," I began again. What does one do when faced with a friendly person? I seemed to have forgotten. This girl was indeed unique-- stylish, friendly, creative... What if I messed this up? There came the worries again. Why did I get like this? There are other kind people on this planet. You'll find someone.p

What do you think of Hogwarts so far? Yong listened to Mae's question about what she was enjoying about Hogwarts so far. To be honest, there wasn't much to go on, other than meeting a few people in and out of classes and being terribly, completely lost for the first couple of days. It seemed that Mae wanted to speak, so Yong allowed her, taking in her story about her 'amazing experience so far' and all of the 'amazing people' she had met.Β
And Yong was glad she was hearing so very high things of the school, but she wondered about if her and Mae were closer - if Mae would decide to spill the beans on the people that irritated her. "That sounds very nice," Yong said, smiling. "I haven't done or met many people yet. I'm in the Drama Club and I mainly do dance. But I needed a lot of help from the... seniors in the school to direct me around to each class." She felt her cheeks warm up a small bit, knowing her experience was far less superior opposed to Mae's.
For a moment, it was quiet. But what did you expect? Yong was confident, but this was just usual when you meet a new person. Not just when Yong meets a new person. Right? "So where were you off to?" Yong asked. She had a thought in mind that Mae was on her way to attend the Ravenclaw House Cup Party, but there was no way of actually determining that.

As Kim responded, Mae couldn't help but feel as though she was being... almost shallow. Uniform. Saying would everyone else would say. But, there was much else to do about that feeling except to shrug it off. The Ravenclaw was eager to hear that Kim was in the Drama Club, and did dance. Mae wasn't much of a dancer herself and does so only briefly if no one is watching. Drama, however, was a different concept entirely. Mae wasn't exactly a professional actress, but she was certainly much better at acting than at dancing. Or at least she let herself think so.
"So where were you off to?" Kim inquired.
Mae wasn't exactly sure. Though she had originally left her dorm heading for the Cup Party, Mae was beginning to second-guess her decision. From the people she had met so far, none of them were Ravenclaw. Sure, go meet some new people, make new friends, all that. But what if people were only there to socialize with their own friends? Surely cliques would have formed by now, and Mae would be left without a place in the room.
But, there was always a chance.
So, Mae responded, "House Cup Party. You?" in an attempt to keep the conversation casual.
