Closed Snow Day!

It was finally snowing! It had felt like forever since Avery had actually seen snow. Actually, it may have been last year when she visited her grandparents in Swansea, Wales. Now that she lived in London, she rarely ever saw snow anymore. She couldn't even remember the last time that there was enough snow to pull out her old sled.

But yet here she was. Standing in the busy corridor. Watching the snow fall softly out the window. She hoped it would be enough to actually go sledding. That would make her winter break so much better since she had nothing else to do. Especially since she was staying at the castle for Christmas.

Avery sighed at the thought. She didn't want to stay, but her parents had told her she needed to. They said they were too busy at the Ministry. Which was probably true. They rarely had time for her right before she left for Hogwarts. She had only gotten about two replies from them in the time she had already spent at Hogwarts.

She leaned her head against the window and closed her eyes. She didn't want to think about her family. Thinking about them would bring a flow of tears that Avery wasn't ready to let flow. She just hoped there would be enough to do at the castle to keep her mind off of what she would be missing.

Too bad I couldn't stay with Grandma and Grandpa. Avery thought to herself as she continued to watch the window. Surely they aren't too busy to allow me to stay. Maybe I'll send them an owl. Then Avery remembered what her grandparents had said. They were going to be on a trip to America around Christmas since they had never been there. Avery was pretty jealous. She couldn't remember the last time she had gone on a trip to anywhere but Wales or the next town over.

Avery continued to stare out at the snow. Undecided of what she was going to do.
