Their first potion seemed to go okay. The Black Fire Potion would keep them fireproof and worry-free about burns until it wore off. In the event the potions wore off, though, then they needed something to soothe the pain. So, Burn Healing Paste was potion number two in preparation for the final task. Alyssea hummed. "Rai, Zach, can you guys tidy up the place a bit and prepare for making the Burn Healing Paste? I'll go get the ingredients this time." She quickly jotted down the stuff onto a small piece of paper before heading off. Murtlap tentacles, seaweed, honey (a whole jar of it — just how much stock of honey jars did the event committee prepare? She hoped there was still enough to bring back), Flobberworm mucus, and dittany. It was easy enough to carry with two arms, just had to be careful not to spill the tentacles and mucus. When Alyssea arrived back at their station, she set everything down and began with the allocation. "Murtlap tentacles and the entire jar of honey can go right in, but not the honey right now! Honey comes later, tentacles can go in now. I'm gonna prepare the seaweed. Zach, you stay on wand-waving duty." Alyssea hummed whatever song came to mind first as she chopped the seaweed into small pieces. Once she had a lump of it chopped, she tossed them all into the mortar and started crushing them into a paste with the pestle. It was more runny than the mint paste and smelled objectively worse. But as soon as she had enough seaweed paste for four spoonfuls in the cauldron, she looked to the rest of the ingredients that needed to be prepared.

The Shared Braincell Pt. 2
Second potion, Alyssea was still leading the group, preventing both Zach and Raizel from making chaos. Alyssea took all the ingredients to the shelves and brought them to their station. "Honey?" Zach's eyes widened. His eyes looked for the other pair from the Gryffindor, glinting a mischievous look that he had seldom shown. Perhaps the Gryffindor knew what he meant.
"Wand waving is boring," Zach pouted. He went to his spot, waiting for Alyssea preparing the ingredients. After all of them were prepared and put into the cauldron, Zach started to stir the cauldron three times in a clockwise rotation. Then he set the fire below the cauldron into high heat before waving his hand over the cauldron. "Wish woosh," Zach said, adding sound effects to satisfy his boredom. Then he set the timer to thirty minutes. Twenty-five was too short and forty was too long. Zach made it thirty minutes in the hope that the change of the ingredients would be like the one described in the book. He had made this potion before so Zach knew better what time he should set.
Again, he faced his boredom again. He looked around and saw the honey jar near Raizel. "Raizel! Raizel!!" He called the Gryffindor. His voice was barely a whisper but he had to make it like that. "We should check if it is really honey or not. Let's taste it. But don't let Alyssea know."

❂《 ⌜ Sometime in October ▎ At some day before the Fall Ball ⌟▛▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔First potion was a success, surprisingly enough and quite a relief too since Raizel was sort of expecting something would go wrong in the end. Lucky for them, she was wrong and that she was worrying for nothing. With all the misfortune that happened to her, who could blame her for unfortunate things to happen. In any case, they still have one more potion to do and she hopes this one turns out just as smoothly as the first one.
“Okay, got it.” Raizel responded to her cousin when she asked her and Zach to clean up the things that they had used earlier to make room for the next batch of ingredients that they’ll need for this burn healing paste. The first potion was for the prevention of getting burns and this one is if they got burned for some reason. First off on the list for her to do was to prepare the Murtlap Tentacles. The Gryffindor wondered how these tentacles were harvested while she was grabbing them. Good thing that Alyssea reminded her that the honey was gonna be added for later or she would’ve added them along with the tentacles. “Right right, honey is for later.” She chuckled sheepishly.
Raizel put in the Murtlap tentacles, still holding the honey in her hand, examining it as the others do their own part for the potion brewing. Her intrusive thoughts are telling her to give it a taste but if she does that, Alyssea will probably murder her. Okay, maybe that was an exaggeration but you get the point. She watched Zach do the stirring, grinning. “Work on those muscles.” Like she’s one to talk. “Wand waving might be boring but it’s very essential in potion brewing.” Isn’t that how potions get their magical properties? While waiting for the right time to put in the honey, the Gryffindor started reviewing her notes before she was interrupted by Zach.
“Errr…” Should they give it a taste? She sure wants to but at the same time, she doesn’t want to get yelled at by Alyssea if she finds out about this which she definitely will find out. “I don’t think that’s a good idea. But, maybe we can save some for later.” She told Zach. In the end, her intrusive thoughts didn’t win and she is worried that it might affect the finished potion if they don’t put a whole jar of it into the mixture.

Humming, she studied the rest of the ingredients that needed preparing. The seaweed and Murtlap tentacles were done and dusted, Alyssea left Raizel with the honey, leaving only the Flobberworm mucus and dittany left. The dittany didn't need any extra measurement or fine chopping since Alyssea had gone one step ahead and grabbed only the singular sprig they would need during her ingredients run. "I'm leaving you in charge of the dittany, too, Rai," Alyssea said as she picked up the Flobberworm mucus and started measuring them. Two measures was all they needed, which really didn't kill enough time during this massive half-hour waiting period. In the corner of her eye, she found Zach whispering into Raizel's ear with a wide grin. Uh oh, Alyssea thought. A grin like that was definitely not good. She raised an eyebrow. "I hope you're not planning to cause me a heart attack over there. You will be paying for my St. Mungo's bills if that does happen." She glanced at the timer. "And make sure all the honey goes in once time's up. We still have to put in the mucus and dittany." She almost wished she brought a book she'd recently borrowed from the library to pass the time. Then again, maybe it was good to not have a book since it wouldn't leave the other two with any opportunity to goof off.

“No fun.” Zach pouted. But the jar of honey was really tempting. If only Alyssea handed her the honey duty, he probably had the chance to taste it a bit. Perhaps one to ten spoons. Once the timer was up, Zach extinguished the fire.
“Raizel, I have turned off the fire. You can add the honey to the cauldron now.” He said. His eyes were locked in the jar of honey. He was once again tempted to do his second try. “We should check if the honey is okay or not. We don't want our potions to fail, right?” Zach waited for Raizel’s response. “I don't find any bread here but I don't think it's necessary.” He kept talking in hope Raizel would share the honey with him. Of course, without Alyssea knowing. They must do it in secret so Alyssea wouldn't notice and get a heart attack.
Jumping into the next step, Zach told the team. “The next steps will be a very quick process. Once the honey is added, I will stir the mixture twice and set the heat low, let it sit for ten seconds. Flobberworm mucus should be ready.” He looked at Alyssea and Raizel, making sure all of them were ready. Then he realized. It felt weird talking with then like that. But he couldn't help it. The next steps always made him nervous when he tried to make burn-healing-pastes.

❂《 ⌜ Sometime in October ▎ At some day before the Fall Ball ⌟▛▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔And then another temptation, courtesy of Zach’s whispering. Her gaze fell from him then to the jar of honey “Okay, maybe-” she was about to agree until Alyssea spoked up, making her jump and turn to face her cousin. “No! It’s nothing!” She quickly responded and then let out a sheepish laugh. Considering what she keeps getting herself into and constant hospital wing visits, she doubts she’d have enough money to pay for hers and Alyssea’s St. Mungo’s bill in the future. So what she did was just to put in all the honey when it was time while looking at Zach.
“I’d rather not face Alyssea’s wrath right now and I doubt they’ll give us tampered ingredients.” Between their potion failing due to a wrong ingredient and Alyssea’s wrath, she’d rather fail. “Let’s just grab one later on after this potion. Now stir! Get those muscles moving.” Raizel commanded. It was just her way of getting back to Zach for trying to tempt her at the cost of Alyssea’s sanity. “I’ll get the dittany.” And while doing so, she let her companions continue on with their own task for the potion, watching them.
From what she could remember, after stirring two times in a clockwise direction, letting it sit for 10 seconds and the flobberworm mucus is added, Zach just needs to heat it up again and keep stirring it until it thickens. Really working on those muscles. “Aren’t you glad you got the stirring? You’ll soon grow some muscles.” Once that is done, that’ll be when the dittany will be added and the finishing touches could be performed.

The time for the honey to go in just couldn't come fast enough, but it eventually did. With the honey finally in, Alyssea watched as Zach stirred the ingredients together, counted the ten seconds as they let the mixture sit on low heat, and then threw in the two measures of Flobberworm mucus. She looked between the potion instructions and Zach here and there while he stirred the mixture. Alyssea had left Raizel with the dittany, after all, so all she really had to do was wait until Zach waved his wand for the last time and they could put the potion into a jar. It felt like ages before the mixture finally reached a thick consistency and the dittany could finally go in. The heat meant the sprig almost vanished instantly and, soon enough, Zach waved his wand for the last time. Alyssea clapped her hands. "Okay, okay. I should probably wear some gloves for this." She looked around and slipped on the gloves she'd taken off after they had made the Black Fire Potion and clapped her gloved hands together. "Right, let's fill this up. Hopefully it's enough for all three of us once the final task comes around." But looking at the cauldron, it didn't look like there was anything to worry about.
