A letter.. for me?
“Oh, Lisa!”![]()
SettingLocation: Camden Town, England

Lisa’s eyes opened slowly as the sunlight from her room began to trickle in through the sheer curtains on her window.
“Lisa come down here you have mail!”
Lisa’s mother, Sarah’s, voice echoed up the stairs until it filled the room with its light tone. Lisa yelled a quick response signalling acknowledgement before glancing around once more at her surroundings. Her childhood bedroom looked the same as ever, light pink pastels filled every corner and every piece of furniture looked like it could have been made in the 1960s. Her parents always had a knack for vintage items and pink never really was her thing but she didn’t feel the need to express her inner thoughts about the room. Not that it would be too difficult to change it up, but she knew her parents loved it and she didn’t want to change that.
Besides, she knew what the mail was for her downstairs: Hogwarts. She had been patiently waiting for its arrival but knew as much that it would come. Lisa had just turned eleven last April, meaning it was only a matter of time before the owl dropped off a letter meant just for her.
Lisa was just as elated as she was nervous. The idea of being away from her annoying younger brothers Samuel and Jonathon piqued her interest, however, in a few years they would more than likely be joining her at the wizarding school. It was expected that all of them would attend, coming from a pureblood family of Hogwarts alumni of course. In fact, her parents had been classmates at the school and even were sorted into Hufflepuff together. The thoughts, of course, raced into her mind about what house she herself would be sorted into. Hufflepuff would make her parents happy, but if what if that wasn’t what the Sorting Hat picked?
Nevertheless, it was too early to be thinking about the Sorting Ceremony. Lisa hadn’t even read the official letter yet. Quietly, she slipped on her pink slippers and went downstairs where she saw her father, Robert McMillian sitting at the table with a grin on his face. He slid the envelope towards Lisa who eagerly grabbed it and ripped it open. Lisa read the letter out loud proudly demonstrating her excitement and anticipation for the new school year. Towards the bottom was a supply list that would need to be bought before leaving for school in the next month.

“We’re so proud of you!” Sarah exclaimed before wrapping Lisa in a tight hug. Soon enough her brothers crawled downstairs wondering what all the commotion was about. Of course, this began the long conversation between her parents and her brothers about jealousy. More than anything Samuel and Jonathon wanted to go with her to Hogwarts. Of course, it wasn't fair that Lisa was older and the first to get her letter in their eyes. To them, it wasn't fair that Lisa got to leave and experience wizarding school while they had to stay and live with their parents.
While Sarah began scolding the young ones for their temper tantrum about wizarding school, Lisa snuck away with her Hogwarts letter back to her pretty pink room. She stared at the wax seal and fresh parchment that it was sent on and continued to daydream about her new life as she began practicing magic. She knew her family was proud but more than ever she wanted to show them what she could do. She was determined to do well and succeed and was not going to let anything get in her way.
