Headmistress Ndoto's Office

Hidden behind one of the smaller of Uagadou's many waterfalls, the door to Headmistress Ndoto's office has an old, peculiar little quirk for anyone who's summoned up the courage to visit. Those who knock too tentatively, whether out of shyness or just misplaced politeness, will find themselves denied, and subsequently left out in the cold, misty air. Only a confident, decisive series of knocks will grant you entry, with the door opening up by its own - presumably magical - means.

While Headmistress Ndoto encourages her students to visit during her office hours, there's no open-door policy to be found here. This is largely due to the actual structural limitations of her office, though, rather than any sort of illuminating peek into her psyche. While the ancient spellwork layered into the stones of Uagadou do wonders for warding away the chill of their cavernous, underground school, they are just that: ancient. Finding the effectiveness of these old spells to be unsatisfactory, one of the first tasks she took up upon moving into the office was adding some of her own warming charms into the mix, and so help you if you leave the door open and let all of that hard-won warmth out behind you.

The interior ambiance of the Headmistress' office is perhaps more warm and polished than one would expect for an office that occupies one of Uagadou's many caves. All of the furniture, from the sprawling bookshelves that have been built directly into the stone to Headmistress Ndoto's intricate, imposing looking desk have been hand-carved from Iroko wood by former Uagadou alumni. The couch and chairs - more recent additions that were selected by Headmistress Ndoto herself - are made of a soft, cream-colored upholstery that is more visually pleasing than it is comfortable. You get the feeling that, even if you could nap here, Headmistress Ndoto would almost certainly not appreciate it.

The walls have been covered with a myriad of personal touches, each lovingly illuminated in the soft candlelight, giving the office a more cozy and intimate feel than the antagonistic couches would first suggest. Various maps of the world are hung throughout the space, each covered with pins that appear to indicate that they're each tracking entirely different things. Photos are featured prominently on both the walls as well as the desk itself, depicting everything from foreign landscapes to various African and South American cultural sites to the Headmistress' family and friends, who smile and wave cheerfully from their frames.

Though the office is almost criminally neat, various knick-knacks from Headmistress' Ndoto's travels are scattered throughout the room, and, while exceptionally organized, her desk is constantly laden with the day-to-day paperwork inherent to running a school that serves the magical population of an entire continent. Near the edge of her desk nearest to the door is a clear glass jar full of potpourri, filling the room with the scents of cinnamon, pine cones, cranberry, orange, apple, and rose hips.
OOC Rules
  • The thread is limited to iNPC students of Uagadou.
  • My office thread is limited to one interaction at a time. Once a student has entered the thread, it will be marked closed, and no further students will be allowed to join. The thread will remain closed for one month after my most recent reply, at which point, if there is no further response from the visiting student, the thread will be re-opened.
  • My office is an in-character area; as such, all posts must follow our standard RP Rules including the 200 word minimum word count and our site iNPC rules. Out of character questions can be owled to me directly or asked in the FAQ thread (please tag me), but should not be asked here. Please be sure to familiarize yourself with Uagadou lore.
  • This thread is meant to be a jumping-off thread, meaning that, while interactions taking place here should be short, preferably in the range of 3-5 posts, you absolutely may use your interactions here to lead into a longer, private thread. Please owl me if that's your intention, and we can make arrangements.
  • Headmistress Ndoto holds open office hours three times a week; as such, very light god-modding of assuming that Évodie is in her office and at her desk is allowed. For anything further, please owl.
