Dori didn't wait want to wait too long to seek Evelynn out after the... kerfuffle that happened at the Mistletoe Spin. An event that Dori had thought was just going to be spinning with a chosen partner and having an opportunity to kiss their boyfriend. No, it was an absolute nightmare instead. The entire evening of fun stolen away by a brat-faced Slytherin that still didn't know his place. That somehow had Winnie of all people on his side. Mentally, Dori had marked her as someone to no longer interact with. She would have to tell Dori some incredibly compelling story about why she defended Percival to even get a head nod in the halls from them again.⁛ ⁛ ⁛ ⁛ ⁛ ⁛ ⁛ ⁛ ⁛ ⁛
Evelynn, however, had surprised them. Had Dori been at least a little ashamed of their behavior at such a well put together event? Absolutely. But- technically he had consented to getting punched in the face, so really they should've been able to secure one good hit before they all continued to joyfully spin and kiss on whoever they wanted or whatever. Still, Evelynn was the one person that Dori had ever heard voice reciprocated disdain for the boy. Elsi, of course, always supported Dori in their grudges. But Elsi didn't have a personal vendetta against him, and also knew better than to steal Dori's revenge.
That's how they found themselves scanning the tables during the lunch period of summer camp. They didn't even know if Evelynn would be here, for two people in the same year, Dori didn't know the girl all that well. But that was about to change. "Ah, Evelynn. Do you mind if I sit with you?" They found the girl at a table already, and would slide into a seat when given the permission. "If it's alright with you I'm going to skip the small talk, because I think we both know what I'm here to talk about. I do hope you're doing well here at summer camp, sleeping well, all of that good stuff. What is your grievance with Gray?" Their fork aggressively punctured an unfortunate vegetable victim of anger. "I'll tell my story in addition, if you'd like. But at the end of the day, I'd quite like to grind that boy up into dust and let him float away in the wind without a second thought."
It was all a matter of fact, much more business or transaction like than was typical for the sunshine-y Hufflepuff. Especially since they were wearing a bright yellow shirt with embroidered flowers coming out of the pocket, paired with pale pink shorts, and muggle Converse that matched the shade of yellow. The anger that broiled within their eyes almost seemed impossible for those that barely knew them, but for those that did... it was less of a rarity than usually assumed.⁛ ⁛ ⁛ ⁛ ⁛ ⁛ ⁛ ⁛ ⁛ ⁛

Towards the end, Pericles had taken an unexpectedly early departure and suspecting foulplay of some form, the lioness had gone after him. Rather than tease out whatever was on his mind and work through the issue, however, the Ravenclaw had given her an uncharacteristically cold shoulder. She'd thought perhaps a good night's sleep might have rectified whatever was going on, yet here she was, eating breakfast alone, no companion bird in sight. Although eating breakfast may have been a generous statement. A more accurate description would be the methodological moving of bits and pieces around her plate as though attempting to crack a complex gustatory code, chin balanced daintily on the backs of knuckles all the while. "Ah, Evelynn." Her idle stirring paused at the sound of her name, grey hues flicking up from below the fan of her lashes to meet the source. A gesture with the fork towards an empty seat was all the permission required for the familiar figure to slide into the table to join her. Not that such permission was really necessary, but Evelynn appreciated it all the same. In fact, as Anderson jumped right past the small talk, the ex-Seeker couldn't help but feel a bit intrigued, one brow flaring curiously and quickly accompanied by an amused quirk of her lips. While she was never really one for idle conversation, it wasn't often that her counterparts shared that sentiment. It was refreshing. Not to mention the bridled aggression towards Grey struck a particularly harmonic chord with Evelynn's own simmering agitation towards Pericles' inexplicable behaviour. "Mn.." Evelynn hummed, eyes dropping back to her plate of barely touched offerings. "My grievance with Grey is that he is an self-important purist sod—" She began plainly, welcoming the distraction from her previous musings, without any hint of her usual restraint. "—with an uncanny ability to rationalize his disgusting rhetoric and either a complete incapacity to recognize his own hypocrisy, or deliberately choosing not to. I cannot think of anyone in our year as aggravating as he. I almost ripped his throat out this past spring... Sometimes I wonder if I should have exercised the restraint I did." Despite the weight of that admission, the soon-to-be sixth-year remained rather nonchalant about it, Anderson's own call for violence no doubt feeding into her own little fantasies. "The first time I met him in first year, he and three of his friends had tossed one of our Ravenclaw classmates into the lake and were in the process of beating on him. The boy had been throwing rocks around by the shore and allegedly struck one of them, or came close to it, and because he was a muggleborn, they sought to teach him a lesson. I honestly do not know what would have happened had I not intervened. I can still remember how Gray defended the actions. 'The kid is a muggle. All you can expect is uncivilised behaviour from them.' And how the 'so called bully was standing up for his ideals.'" She pursed her lips, fork mirroring Anderson's in the way that it skewered a piece of sausage. Only her action was significantly less swift, the skewering of the meat slowly savoured instead. "Referred to my concern as spotlighting heroism. I managed to get the boy away from them, and somehow levied Gray's own coat to wrap around him and though Gray doubted me, promised to return the coat to him. "The Ravenclaw boy was safely returned to his tower and I returned Gray's coat to him. Granted, it did take some time. A few weeks or some such. It took me a while to find the Ravenclaw boy to get the coat back at all and then longer to try to get it clean—my magic was not as adept in first year," she explained with a dismissive wave of her hand. "But I returned it to him, folded and dry and clean." Her eyes darkened, deeply ingrained irritation twitching the corner of her mouth. "And he had the audacity to embarrass me in front of the Slytherin great hall table, gaslighting everyone present to believe that I had clearly not cared for the coat, and how it looked like some trash that a muggle would wear, and I may as well not even have returned it. When I called him out as barbaric for hitting several of his classmates with a newspaper, he told me to watch my bloody tongue. "I have lost count of the insults he has thrown at me. Undeserving brat; stubborn, senseless and idiotic; half-blood mutant; worthless muggle—he never was consistent on his belief of my blood status and I rarely feel the need to correct someone one way or another. Anyway. That was only the first of a long list of encounters. He is very nearly as bad as Mathias Pride. I hold no love for @Percival Gray" |
