Hello Crocodile, My Dear Friend
Octavius didn't have a lot of plans on the 27th of December, asides from the fact that it was a friday and he spent his vacation days for this break, so he was going to relax, at least, that was the plan. Well, at 5 in the afternoon, you kind of get bored. He had a few choices; find something to do, go shopping for the after-christmas deals, or make dinner.
He walked across the hall towards the closet with the stairs to the basement and walked down the stairs. He was in his basement, with the concrete walls looking like they're dripping water from the moisture, the ceiling with stapled-up insulation, and the bookshelves adjourned with potion ingredients lined the left and right walls. His eyes refocused towards the center, where his cauldron was.
He took a minute to think, grabbing his Hogwarts Potion Notebook that he compiled during his time at Hogwarts and found the table of content. Something interested him, the Beautification Potion. Oh, how it would be nice to look even more attractive, bring all the men to him. Maybe this could work.
Octavius flipped through the book to try and find the instructions but all he did in class, it would seem, was just write down the recipe and the first two lines of instruction. Great, he would have to do this from memory, wouldn't he?
He looked at the recipes and walked back and forth to the shelves to get his ingredients: 6 fairy wings, 12 fluid ounces of Morning Dew, 1 rose, 2 fluid ounces of snake oil, 1 lock of unicorn hair, 2 measures of powdered ginger.
The only two instructions he saw were to (1) grind the wings of three fairies and add to the cauldron, and (2) to stir slowly then add morning dew. He would need to rely on his memory for the rest.
He went ahead and ground up the wings of the fairies and deposited them into his cauldron, and also stirred calmly, slowly, as he poured in the morning dew.
What was next?
He wondered if he should continue stirring. He did, but he stirred a little harder, faster than he just did. He turned up the heat and felt himself burning up as well. Gosh, why did fire have to be so hot. He plucked some petals off of the rose and added it to the cauldron, counting each of them. He wasn't sure when to stop, so maybe he'd trust his instinct. "One... two... three... four... five... six..." Surely that was enough. (Added to the cauldron as recently said)
He grabbed the snake oil and a dropper and slowly dropped in the cauldron all 2 fluid ounces of it, taking approximately a minute. Next, he took a lock of unicorn hair and dropped it, once again, in the cauldron. He stirred just as hard and just as fast as he did before he added rose petals. Finally, the last ingredient he had was two measures of ginger powder. He dumped it into the cauldron and heated the cauldron.
He gave the potion approximately a minute to finish, so the heating had time. He pulled out his wand and waved it over the cauldron. It was done, now to transfer it into a vial. He looked around, and he found a plastic bottle with a screw top, and he proceeded to slowly pour in the concoction.
When it filled up, he smiled. He took a good chug of the consumable and felt like he was even more beautiful!
He marched upstairs to look in the bathroom mirror to see how he looked.
Oh and it was such a bloodcurdling scream. He wasn't gorgeous, he was.. NOT PRETTY?! What in the world? No, Octavius wasn't going to try to brew that potion again, not unless he had the full instructions because he didn't know where he messed up at or how much stuff he messed up.
From Beautiful to Crocodile. He needed 7 rose petals not 6.
