ฬinter was starting to hang heavy in the air among the ancient castle of Hogwarts, but still Autumn was holding strong, fighting the oncoming snowy tundra with golden leaves and a beautifully bronzed landscape, by this point most of the non-evergreen trees were stripped down to the last leaf, bare branches extending towards the sky like skeletal arms.
Accalia wandered through the newly stacked hills of bronze, orange, and brown leaves carpeting the ground. Her boots crunched softly with every step, but her mind wasn’t on the beauty around her, no, her focus was fixated on a troublesome patch of color high above her.
She was frowning, looking up at a gnarled tree where instead of the expected green of pines, or the vibrant shades of dead leaves, a billowing purple could be seen, she had come out today dressed in what passed for relaxation wear by her standards: a beautiful purple sweater that perfectly matched the trapped scarf, and a dark cloak adorned with faux fox fur, a brilliant shade of orange that set off her wild, windswept amber locks.
It was Friday, after all, the one day of the week she not just allowed herself to “take it easy,” but had it mandated to her by her families ancient religious beliefs, though to be honest, even that phrase was relative when it came to someone like Accalia.
Her day of rest had started with good intentions, but restlessness had quickly overtaken her when her casual stroll through the grounds had turned into a challenge as her brand new, handmade scarf caught the wind, flying from her grasp and becoming ensnared in the highest branches of this tree.
Without hesitation, she had decided to retrieve it herself, magic was tempting, after all one quick levitation spell would have solved the problem, but to her, that felt like taking the easy way out, almost cheating in a sense and she had set herself to a test of her own strength and determination, after all in her mind, it was always preferable.
The first climb had gone well enough—until it didn’t. She'd made it around halfway up the tree when one branch in particular, brittle and weakened by the encroaching season, had snapped under her weight, she had fallen, desperately trying to catch another branch as she did so, causing a small pile to fall next to her as she landed in a now scattered pile of leaves with nothing bruised but her pride. Now she stood at the base of the tree, staring up at the scarf with stubborn resolve, frustrated that she'd managed to snap the branch she'd used to hoist herself up in the first place.
“C'mon old tree, please give it back” she requested, almost matter of fact as her hands were placed on her hips.
As the tree obviously did not respond, she added in a daring tone, “You think you can keep that from me? We’ll see about that.” her voice set determined, she was going to figure out a way to get back up there and get it by hand, after all, just because she was short didn't mean that she couldn't get things out of reach! That would be a weakness, folly!
And yet, she continued her loop among the man-made hills, her boots kicking up loose leaves as she surveyed it from every angle.
There had to be another way up, the branches closest to the ground were either too thin to support her or too high to reach, outside the one sturdy branch she'd used before which, yep... still lay on the ground where she'd fallen, shimmying up the trunk was a possibility, but the smooth bark didn’t offer much in the way of handholds.
She considered her other options, running through various plans in her head, pondering and thinking of any approach that could work.
Finally finishing her fourth or fifth rotation of the troublesome tree, she sat at its base with a humph, crossing her arms and legs as she stared up at the scarf, her eyes fixed on its swaying with the breeze, practically taunting the young girl.
“Don’t worry, Princess Scarfington,” she declared dramatically, pointing a finger at the offending piece of fabric. “I will rescue you! No great beast can stand in my way! Especially not the dreadful Trelor lord the Treants”
The scarf, of course, did not respond, but imagining it as a helpless damsel in distress trapped by some mighty tree beast brought a small smirk to her lips.
She leaned back against the tree trunk, her wild hair spilling over her shoulders as she considered her next move.
With a deep sigh, she brushed the leaves from her cloak, if there was one thing she knew for sure, it was that she wouldn’t be leaving this tree without her scarf!
Whatever it took—whether that meant finding a new angle of attack, improvising a solution, or spending the rest of the day out here—she was going to get it back!

The Phoenix and the Dove
Some people who never had the chance to end up in Ravenclaw would think their bedrooms would be very simple, beds disposed in a strict way, with only the reprentive colors of the house, with a very poor decoration. Something a little too depressive, but here to keep the hard working minds in their studies, and not thinking of anything else. Dove always felt ashamed of having that thought when the sorting hat revealed whose family would be hers for the next seven years. Her father didn't help, saying that his house was meant for clever children, who should always be reminded of their studies duty.
Of course, this was entirely wrong. Dove was heading to some fresh air, while having some memories of her warm bedroom. The beige curtains, her navy blue bed in which she was in only a few minutes ago were already starting to be missed. At first, she imagined this friday like all the other ones, reading a confort books in her blue sheets. To her, cold seasons such as this autumn one were meant to be spent inside, in warmy clothes with a fire crackling sound near by. However, when she heard a few ones of the birds talking about having a deap breath outside, she started to feel bad about not letting her body get some new air.
So here she was now, wandering in the castle, wearing her most warm light blue sweater, hidden by a black winted coat her mother sent her during the past hollidays. She was letting her feet moving her into some place in which she would spend in during a few time. She hoped not too long, she already felt a freezing breeze brushing her free neck. Damn it, she knew she had forgotten something. She unfortunatly let her blue and bronze scarf laying onto some desk in her dormitory. To keep this naked part of herself a little hidden from the cold atmosphere, she decided to detach her elastic which was retaining her dark hair in a sort of a messy ponytail. She loved her hair, she got it from her French grandmother. Mamm-gozh (grandma in a French region's language) I hope I'll see you during Christmas holidays. she thought, even if she knew there was only a small chance it could happen.
Taking a first step outside cut her breath for a second. It wasn't as cold as she expected, but it was still some of a choc after leaving the warm temperature of Hogwarts. A tiny white smog escaped her lips, finishing its way onto the sky. Her eyes were looking for a bench, where she could sit and continue reading her novel she was strongly holding against her right arm. Her gaze however stopped, not into the sit she wanted, but into a girl, who seemed to be her age, looking at something in some tree. From where she was, she couldn't see exaclty what it was, but it seemed to be a scarf. A scarf she was definitly starting to miss for now, but it was too late to go back. If she entered again into the perfect temperature, she wouldn't leave it.
She decided to walk for the girl, who gradually started to look like... a very beautiful person. Dove couldn't stop looking at her amber hair, which was slightly moving in the air due to the small wind that was starting to appear. It only existed in some cartoon, but she truly believed her eyes had sparkles on it. She was hypnotised by the girl's beauty, but realised it could be a bit awkward if she noticed Dive was looking at her. She stayed a few feet back, she didn't wanted to be seen by her. By the way, her assumption was right, the amber girl was looking for a stucked scarf. And she could understand why she wanted it so badly, since it wasn't very warm out there...
The Ravenclaw child would like to help her, but how ? If the one in front of her couldn't manage to get back what she wanted, the poor physical abilities of Dove wouldn't help. However, she didn't want to go away, she knew she would regret it if she hadn't talked to her, and, before she realised it, she was already next to the girl. She was opening her mouth, without a single sound that wanted to go out of it, and Dove noticed it would quicly become weird if she continued saying absolutly nothing.
"Hem, hi. Why don't you want to use some spell we learnt to get it back ?"

“Behind beauty hides the warrior's blade, behind kindness the force of storms ~ Clan Avalon.”

𝕿ugged at the fur-lined edges of her cloak, Accalia's violet blue eyes scanning the gnarled branches above as she plotted her next move, her scarf still fluttering mockingly at her from above, daring her to try again and defying her effort as a soft breeze lifted up, teasing at her already windswept hair, the late autumn air nipping at her cheeks, without her giving it much concern.
Leaning back against the tree's rough bark as her brow creased in thought, mulling over over to conquer this stubborn natural obstacle, this was no longer just about convenience, she'd been slighted by this, this, most damnable of foes! She could not give up anymore due to the sheer principal of the thing now, an Avalon never retreated! An Avalon fought to the last breath! An Avalon was sitting here sulky that she couldn't climb the damned tree!
She sighed again in frustration, crossing her arms as she leaned harder against the tree, almost as though trying to push it over with her back, “You know,” she said aloud to no one in particular, “a Gryffindor, no an Avalon, shouldn’t be bested by a tree, seriously this is starting to feel personal.” her muttered musings were cut short as she caught a flicker of movement out of the corner of her eye, turning her head she noticed someone standing nearby her.
The girl was small, only a few inches taller than Accalia herself, and appeared almost delicate-looking, dark hair pulled neatly back and swaying in the same breeze that was sweeping back her own inferno of locks, and her posture seemed... hesitant, despite the shyness in the girls stance, there also seemed to be a sort of quiet curiosity hidden in her rich, dark eyes, as Accalia looked upon her she noted that the girls eyes were like twin abysses, dark as midnight skies yet glimmering with the promise of infinite stars, drawing all in with a gravity all of their own, seemingly eyeing the scarf fluttering above them and then back to Accalia herself.
Accalia straightened, almost immediately rising to her feet, brushing a few stray leaves from her cloak as she offered the girl a very friendly grin, "Hey there" She greeted, her tone warm enough to chase away the late autumn chills, trying to make it as soothing as a hot chocolate on a crisp winter morning.
“Hey,” she greeted, her voice light. “You caught me in the middle of a standoff with this tree. It’s been winning, but only just. In fact, that's unfair on this mighty foe, it has truly been giving me the grandest of battles, who'd have thought that it would be a tree to see the end of an Avalon.”She laughed at her own joke then tilted her head slightly, studying the girl as she waited for a response, the way the wind caught the edge of the girls coat reminded her of the chill biting at her own skin, not that it tended to bother her overly much due to her high metabolism, but the girl before her didn't have a scarf either, and did not look like she worked out nearly as often or nearly as hard as Accalia to have her own metabolism warm her.
"Forgot your scarf, huh?" she asked, her eyes softening, "Doesn't look like you're dressed for an extended stay out here, as you can see, mine's gone and decided to spend the day up there, warming that branch instead of where it should have been" She sighed again letting out her frustrations at the situation.
"The wind decided it didn't like me having it, and gave it to this tree, now the great old thing refuses to give it back, to be honest, I cannot entirely blame her, if I were an old thing like her and had my clothes stripped off me during the coldest months of the year, I would gratefully grasp hold of whatever warmth I could and refuse to let it go." As she stated this she turned back to the tree and gave it a gentle pat, almost apologizing for her more brutish immediate response.
"I tried to climb her earlier, but she proved a mighty combatant to try and clamber, sorry for that too old girl" she pat the tree a little harder, as though giving a light knock to a friends shoulder, her palm making a noticeable slapping noise, then turned her attention back to the still silent girl, she'd approached for a reason, it wasn't just passing by, Accalia wondered if she'd seen her in a prior class before, though that thought was immediately chased out as she made a note of familiarizing and memorizing all of the students she took classes with, she'd have remembered her.
She stepped back from the tree, glancing at its sturdy trunk and far out of reach branches, giving forth yet another sigh “I’ve been trying to do this without magic,” she said, more to herself than to the girl. “Feels like cheating if I just use a spell, you know? I wanted to see if I could handle it the old-fashioned way.” She chuckled softly, shaking her head. “Though I’ll admit, it hasn’t exactly been working.” she moved to a frown again, though as if by divine providence, or the fact that she'd apologised to the tree, perhaps it was just a matter of comedic timing the scarf finally fluttered free, drifting down to the ground.
Looking between where the scarf landed and the girl, then back again, her mouth agape as though trying to comprehend what had just occurred, then seeing the signs of chill along the girls collar she draped the scarf over her, wrapping it to soothe her.
"Suits you better anyway!" she nodded, then held out her hand in a traditional greeting.
"Accalia Avalon, of the clan Avalon, pleased to meet you!"

The Phoenix and the Dove
The wind had suddenly disapeared, with its comrade the freeze, which ran away with it. But maybe all this was an illusion, Dove couldn't know if she stopped missing her scarf or if, on the contrary, her neck duvet was dressing up due to... some cold air. She truly believed summer had made its entrance for the last two minutes, but apparently it was not. Dove wasn't sure, she couldn't even think straight. But what were thoughts, actually ? Those little voices in her head, who usually couldn't stop whispering in her brain, for everything that was happening. However, this strange silence replaced them, and Dove couldn't be sure of anything. Was that the wind, that seemed to get angrier around the two girls ? Well, no. There was only one. The voice coming out of the mouth ahead of her couldn't come from a human. This appeasing tone, which had made Dove feel weirder than usual, not being able to differenciate the warm from the cold, was obviously the one of a goddess. A this amethyst gaze... made be the one that shat down Dove's inside voices, or maybe was it the hair ? She had never seen this color before, and even less on the head of someone else.
No. She shaked her head and decided to listen what was the goddess- the girl saying. Yes, it wouldn't be very polite of her if she didn't, and her mother wouldn't be very proud of her if she knew her daughter asked someone a question without even trying to know the answer. The soft voice talked about some end of Avalon ? Dove suggested this was her lastname. The supposed Avalon girl stopped talking for a while, maybe Dove should add something, and seeing her laughing gave her a small smile. "The way I saw you not giving up on that scarf before makes me doubting you will now." After saying this, she noticed the red hair girl was looking at her, from the above to the bottom, which made her cheeks becoming pinker than a few seconds ago. And these ones turned more like a cherry red when the girl assumed Dove wouldn't stay very long outside. She didn't want people to believe she hated everything that was not inside. In fact, she loved nature. The big lake next to her grandparents's house, surrounded by the biggest trees she thought could exist were kind of missed actually. And the great lake of Hogwarts reminding her too much of her memories stopped her for venturing there.
The frustration voice coming out from the mouth in front of Dove brang her back to reality. But this kind of angry tone was replaced by some... she would say sympathy, adressed to the tree standing next to them, and the tap she gave to it strenghtened her thoughts. Dove didn't have some usual girl talking with, she seemed to have a connection with nature, or maybe she just really liked it. "I understand your frustration. But even with all the strengh we put something against nature, it won't be enough to win, is the word is correct." she stayed a moment without saying anything, so maybe the Avalon girl would say something, and she was right. But she didn't mind, Dove found her voice appeasing, and the cold wasn't too unpleasant after. "Sometimes, I feel like magic doesn't respect the codes of nature. But I also think that it will never be stronger than it. When you touch the wooden trunk of the smallest tree, you can feel how strong it is."
She only had the time to finish what she said, take a little breathe of cold air and blink her eyes to feel something warmer being wrapped around her neck. This feeling she had before of the freeze getting away was now real. She didn't realise a scarf was this important for a walk outside. However, she felt a little bad. After all, this long piece of wool wasn't hers, and she wasn't the one who desparately tried to have it back.
Her eyes went down to see the girl's hand being held to her, followed by an introduction. Accalia, this was the girl's name. She hadn't heard this one before, but it suited her well. And she was right, Avalon was her family name. She smiled at her hypothesis beikg right and Dove decided to take Accalia's hand to introduce herself as well. I am Dove Cullen, from no clan I guess." she laughed for a second at her joke but got back quickly. "But you know, like you said, I don't plan to stay long out there, so if you want your scarf back you can." This felt stupid, said like this, because of course, the scarf was Accalia's, so if she wanted it back she easily could. "But thanks, this is nice of you to have noticed my neck was naked."
She turned her head, avoiding Accalia's gaze, and realised she hadn't noticed how this place was beautiful. She should have come here sooner, during hotter days. But even if the air wasn't the most pleasant, it felt good to have met someone. It made the temperature warmer. "You know, I got outside only because I heard some of my Ravenclaw comrade talking of an excursion outside. If I had not hear them, I would still be in my sheets, reading this book." She showed it to Accalia, even if it wasn't the most necessary thing to do. She knew not everyone was a big fan of detective novels but maybe it could interest Accalia. "What about you ? I mean, before your scarf was stolen by the tree, you came here to do something, didn't you ?"
