@Accalia Avalon
She hesitantly poked her head into the potions classroom. Was she late? Wait a sec. She was early. She was never early. She supposed that now, almost 3 months in she was finally figuring out how to navigate this school. It was starting to make sense. She could get where she wanted. She was glad she had figured out navigation in the school because she had 7 more years here.
She smiled and slipped in. She was the first person in the class. She waited for a couple of minutes until the class would start. She'd only done a couple of potions classes before this one. The first had taught her the rules of potion making and the 3 types of potions. She had been nervous about her class, but it had been fun. Well as fun as a class that didn't actually do anything could be.
She was pretty sure this was a double potions class with Gryffindor and Ravenclaw. She wasn't sure whether she'd like the Gryffindors. They were supposed to be brave and courageous. She wasn't brave. She wasn't courageous. She was terrified of snakes, deep water, and talking to strangers.
She saw a Gryffindor girl come into the class. Her eyes immediately followed them. She looked at the empty seat next to her "Umm... you can... sit next to me..."

Ꭷpening the heavy wooden door to a quiet, dimly lit, and mostly empty classroom, Accalia stepped inside and let out a soft sigh, her breath curling faintly in the still air. Her light blue, appearing violet in the potion class eyes adjusted to the dim glow, darting around the room in search of any clue to confirm whether she was in the right place this time.
The room itself stretched out like a cavern, and yet held a strange sense of comfort, the rough stone seeming to embrace the flickering golden glow of the chandeliers and floating candles that drifted lazily above the long, polished tables causing shadows to dance about, their quiet stories playing out in the cozy amber light of the classroom, and casting playful reflections off the delicate glass vials arranged neatly at every station
Warmth greeted her immediately, a stark contrast to the chill of the corridors outside. The air held a delicate blend of scents: lavender and chamomile lingered faintly, mingling with the earthy undertones of drying herbs that hung in neat rows along the walls and as though to add to the students comfort during the middle of this harsh winter the floor was scattered with thick, patterned rugs that hugged the feet, muffling the sounds of footsteps.
Still, Accalia couldn’t shake the sinking feeling that she was once again in the wrong place, the desks sat mostly undisturbed, the faint amber glow of the floating candles their only companions.
Her frantic sprint through the castle earlier now seemed pointless; every other classroom she’d checked had been empty, and her mounting frustration made her hope she wasn’t supposed to be at flying class.
If it was flying, she was undoubtedly late, with no chance of making it to the lesson in time, not that this was uncommon for her, in fact the prime reason she was getting the sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach was she knew that she was never early, never really even on time to a lesson, she'd built up a reputation as one of the most tardy girls in school history after all, even though she'd only been there three months.
Just as she was debating whether to turn back and try her luck sprinting to the school training fields, her eyes caught sight of someone seated at the far end of the room, the floating candles now illuminating the rather cute face of a lone girl who sat at one of the polished tables.
Recognition sparked in Accalia’s mind, she’d seen this Ravenclaw student before, always in the back of their Potions classes.
Quiet, reserved, someone who rarely spoke up, but whose presence Accalia had made a note of after all, she prided herself on remembering the faces of everyone she studied with; it was important to her as it meant that she'd be able to assist if she saw them around needing a helping hand or a kind word.
With a small smile tugging at her lips, Accalia crossed the room over to where the girl was sat, she moved incredibly light, the soft rugs helping quiet her approach, sliding into the seat beside the girl that had been offered to her, her smile turned warm and genuine.
“Thank you,” she said, settling in comfortably. “It’s Silva, isn’t it?” Her voice carried an easygoing warmth, appearing friendly.
She truly didn’t need to ask, she was certain of the name, but it felt right to give Silva the chance to confirm it herself.
"I am Accalia, pleased to meet you" She practically beamed, she could feel tension and nerves coming from Silva and was hoping that her brightest smile would put the timid girl more at ease, then to stir the conversation further and toward a more neutral ground, and away from any areas that might cause the girl to hide away she added.
"What do you think we're going to be learning today?" the question was not entirely idle, in fact, she was hoping for some clue about whether she was in the right place, or at least an idea of what she should have prepared for.
Not for the first time, and certainly not the last, she regretted her tendency to skim over notices and schedules in her rush to keep up with her wild and chaotic days.

"Yeah...." How did she know her name? Must have been paying more attention to her than Silva had been. She had definitely seen this girl before. Most likely in the last potions class.
She didn't pay much attention to the other people in the class. She could vaguely recognize them, but she didn't know any of their names and never bothered to pay attention to them. It was a class anyways. Why would she need someone to talk to? Why would she need a friend in it. She normally wouldn't have any free time anyways. Normally... Wouldn't need a friend...
Accalia didn't seem to have any trouble settling in, to talk with a stranger who invited her to sit. Nope. No problems with that. She smiled weakly up at her. She didn't know what to say now that the girl had sat down. She was relieved when Accalia asked her a question. No awkward silence. Then again, now there was awkward talking.
"Umm.... I don't know... maybe........ I don't know...." She sighed. That was a failed conversation. Normally she could do better than that. Sure, she always stammered, but at least she could talk. Nope. No luck with that. She wondered what it was about this Gryffindor that got her all weird. It was probably the fact that they were so different from her. She didn't really know how to talk to people who seemed so incredibly the opposite of her.
"So... um... do you like.... umm..... Hogwarts?" She mumbled. Her question sounded like it had been said by someone who didn't understand English. Ugh. Not cool voice. She took a deep breath and looked up at Accalia. Smile. She seemed really nice. Silva relaxed a little. Maybe this wasn't quite as bad as she thought. She'd still probably completely confused the Gryffindor, but maybe there was a hope of her thinking that Silva was slightly normal. Maybe.

─────𝕿he red-haired girls grin only seemed to grow wider as the shyer girl responded, in a voice that was barely even a whisper, her facial expressions softening even around the broad toothed smile.
The nervous stammer and hesitation from Silva were not off-putting to Accalia in the slightest, she supposed it took all sorts in this world but the true, in-depth beauty of Silva's personality seemed to shine within her eyes, a puzzle, urging her to try and crack it, to delve deeper inward and unravel all that was hidden by uncertainty, a certainly perplexing and overall exciting riddle, Accalia loved riddles, she never had quite the right answer but it was the journey to uncover them that was the exciting part, the challenge, it always hid something fascinating within.
“Well,” she began, leaning slightly toward Silva, her tone light and conspiratorial as if sharing a great secret, “I can’t say I’m much of an expert on Hogwarts yet, but… I think I love it! In fact, I think I love it, more than it likes me. There's always these fun tricks being played on me, you know? Staircases move the second I get my bearings enough to understand where I am supposed to be going, ghosts swoop in out of nowhere... Yesterday, a poltergeist tried to balance a bucket of water over a door just as I was walking through. Got my hair soaked! You’d think after three months, I’d catch on. But no, I’m just another student getting drenched like a soggy cat.” she laughed miming shaking water from her head, then letting out a playful huff as if she were genuinely annoyed at the situation, though her body language easily betrayed her amusement.
"That and I don't have the first clue of how to follow my class guide, well... to be honest I never really look at my class guide, I just know I have certain classes and they are at set locations, so I tend to do a mad sprint from class to class until I find exactly where I am supposed to be! I accidentally ended up in a senior class once, I have learnt all the faces and names of my regular classmates now just so that doesn't happen again."
"But it does keep things interesting, certainly not one for lulling away my days in boredom and the school makes sure that I don't!" She laughed once more then set her blue eyes, occasionally shimmering with a violet hue when the candles caught them in the right way, her chin almost exaggeratedly pressed into the palm of her hand as she focused upon Silva, studying the girl as she leaned forward just a little.
"What about you Silvy? We're friends now so I hope it's okay that I call you Silvy, have you had any fun little adventures yet?" she did her best to radiate warmth and curiosity, she wasn’t pressing for an answer, though.
If Silva wanted to dodge the question or let the conversation trail off, that was fine. Accalia trying to keep things light and casual.
In fact, in line of keeping the more friendly tone of their encounter, she pulled out a notebook that on the cover was poorly written 'Class Stuff' and passed it over to Silva "This was supposed to be my school book, but I have filled it with some drawings if you want to look at them, I tend to sketch out my thoughts of class instead of write them, this page here" she remarked pointing to a drawing.
"This is for an idea I have. Just of some general potions, some that I think I could potentially invent even. My most recent idea was something to make bearded dragons shoot sparks, like miniature fireworks! Kind of like an offbrand dogbreath potion, what do you think? Too much?" Sure enough if more attention was paid to the sketchings it would be identifiable as potion ingredients and how to correctly extract them.
Even as excited and excitable as she was, Accalia’s voice was restrained, offered like an open hand rather than a demand. She watched Silva closely, not to scrutinize but to read her cues, her comfort levels. If Silva wanted to retreat back into her shell, Accalia would respect that. But if she leaned in, even just a little, Accalia was ready to meet her there.

Silva thought Accalia was being a little intense. The more shy Silva was getting, the bigger Accalia's grin seemed to be. She hunched her shoulders a little and looked down at the ground. Well, further down at the ground. She hadn't really looked up yet. She wasn't sure whether she should be relieved or terrified about how this conversation was going so far. So confusing.
She listened to Accalia's response to her question. This response perplexed her. Accalia seemed so excited about all this and yet she was talking about bad things. She related to the ghost and the stairs. She'd been in those situations and man were they embarrassing. She also did laugh a little bit at being poured water on by a poltergeist. She even lifted her eyes off the ground slightly. Until she realized that she had no idea what a poltergeist was, aside from the fiction she'd read in the muggle world. Well. She didn't want to embarrass herself by asking so she was staying quiet.
She frowned as Accalia explained her technique for getting to classes. "That uh.... sounds really um..... stressful" She had intensely studied her class schedule and where the classes were, and yet she'd still gotten incredibly lost. How would you ever figure it out if you didn't even know what class you needed to be in? "...no boredom for you....." she quietly agreed
At Accalia calling her Silvy her eyes widened. What. I have no nicknames. Huh. Whozawutzzit. When she continued by asking if that was ok because they were friends her mouth fell even farther ajar. Friends. That had to be the quickest friendship she'd ever made then. Even quicker than the one she had with Angie while they were playing cards.
"Umm.... uhh.... thats uh..... fine... I uhh.... guess........" Get yourself together. She told herself quickly. It's not like she told you magic was real or something like that. Oh. Wait. It is real.
She shook herself and winced at Accalia's next question. She had in fact had some adventures already. Most of them quite embarrassing. She considered what to say before inevitably just mumbling it out as fast as possible. "I charged a ghost, got lost in the halls for ages, and screamed at the giant squid" Then, she randomly added "Um... I also played a game of cards...." She looked up at Accalia. Wondering what her reaction to that was going to be.
She was quite grateful for the distraction as Accalia pulled out her notebook. She smiled at the drawings they were quite good. She listened to Accalia's description of her idea. She thought carefully about it. "It would be cool, but I think, it would be easier to use this weird spell that makes dragon figurines come to life. It's called...." she struggled to remember "droconifar... no... dracinerfer... hmm... draconifeer?" she gave up and decided to just continue "well whatever its called I think that's what it does... although... I'm not sure if they teach it at Hogwarts... I only saw it in a book"
For the first time in the conversation she appeared to be leaning into it and getting excited. "Could you show me some of your other idea's?"
