It was his first herbology class; ok. It was his first class as a twelve year old. His birthday being before he had his herbology class. One of his top favorite classes. The hands on aspect of it, and minimal spell casting making it rather enjoyable for him. Even if spell casting was a big part of it, he thought it would still be. He was finding plants to be- something he liked. Quite a bit. Maybe, just maybe. If he was allowed he'd want a few hundred in his dorm. Something to make the common room barrable. He was almost sure Gekko wouldn't mind. Almost.

Walking to class, Oliver was dressed in of course his school robes. What he always wore on school days. Until classes were done, he would be in them. So nothing different today, he had his school bag, and of course. It was all normal. Save for his age. Oliver walked into the class, and took his normal seat. Taking his quills and such out of his bag. Setting them all neatly on the desk. Easy access, so he could take his notes.

Except, things weren't normal. A disturbance in his routine. Someone was at his desk. The desk he sat at everyday. Not in his seat, no no. Just the desk he found himself at. how did he not notice her before? Oliver himself didn't know that. He glared at her. Yet smirked, a frustrated one. great. "With how memorable you were, I'm surprised I didn't notice you in this class before." He told the girl, Meiyu. A Gryffindor first year he apparently shared a birthday with. Shame those couldn't be changed.

His first impression of her had been memorable enough. She'd crashed his party along with a few other guests. Though she had the nerve to insult him. Even if she hadn't meant to. Her words had made Oliver think of her as someone with a large ego. She was lucky she got a greeting from him, most people didn't deserve a greeting from him. She didn't either, yet. He had to make some comment on her. "You came to crash my favorite class to?" He asked her, tilting his head a bit to the side. 'Ruined' his birthday party thrown by Aaron, and now she was invading the class he might have loved most of all.

Meiyu's birthday had been a slump, she had not celebrated as she wished, rather spending her time feeling miserable and incredibly homesick. She missed her younger brothers, though with the Christmas break approaching, she would only have to endure a few more weeks, though they trudged by slower than ever with the seasons changes. Thus it was more than safe to say that Meiyu had woken up on the wrong side of bed this morning. Her hair had been difficult to style, opting for her usual pair of plaits, her jumper was misplaced this morning, forcing her to skip her usual breakfast delicacy consisting of fruit and to conclude, today she had Herbology.

Herbology had not become a favourite of hers, she had found the class rather dull, conversing about plants was the last thing she wanted to do on this miserable day. The chill of the November air had been harsher this morning, contributed with the lack of a jumper worn to shield her, merely her uniform and robes was not enough to combat the day ahead. With a fear of being late, she rushed to the greenhouses, seating in a different place than she usually did, not thinking much though of it as she toyed with the feathers attached to her quill while anticipating the upcoming bore of a lesson. Naturally, a familiar irritating somewhat high pitched pre-pubescent voice chose the wrong day to bother her, irregardless to her previous intrusion to his joke of a birthday party.

She had been so preoccupied with the mishaps of the day to forget she shared Herbology with Oliver, a troll who she had the misfortune of sharing a birthday with. Clearly the heavens had graced her with the looks, judging by how revolting his own brother also looked. Her pupils manoeuvred to the side, refusing to grace the troll with her full undivided attention, it had become to her that not only had he failed to receive any blessings on his looks, he had also been graced with idiocy. How could he fail to notice her? Frankly speaking, she had always sat towards the exit, immediately exiting the greenhouse once the class was over, usually not being as early as she had been today, Meiyu could not fault him for that. On the other hand, she could fault herself for the seat she had chosen today, unusually sitting much closer, evidently in this pathetic snake's seat.

"Of course this is your favourite seat," she began, her expression still and tone flat, reaching to grab her satchel that she had placed in front of her on the table, hastily gathering the belongings she had placed on the table and shoving them back in the brown satchel, her irritating bubbling once more, for what felt like the hundredth time today alone. She stood from her seat, noticing she slightly towered him, though their height difference was not large and surely he would grow to be taller than her as they aged, it was a satisfaction that deemed his intrusion on her day a 1:1 draw.

Her lips formed a slight pout, mimicking Oliver's evident sarcasm as she continued, "Shortie mad I took his stupid seat too? Makes sense why you chose to sit at right at the front, couldn't appease your parents so you have to make it up with your little act as a Herbology prodigy?" Meiyu scoffed questioningly, she had debrief with Aodhan upon their return to the common room, the young Sherlock sharing details on Oliver's lineage, though she had not asked, the informant had proved to be useful, providing her with the venom she needed to get under the reptilian's skin. It was this reason exactly she had refused to get too close to other students, Meiyu was fond of the lions she had made acquaintances with, yet not enough to disclose that she is a similar predicament as the blonde Armani boy. He was in her place, she was in his. The two being born under the same stars, on the same night, only further highlighted truly how ill-fated the two had become. It appeared as though the stars had aligned together, prophesying that on this day, the monster that was Oliver Armani would terrorise the fortress and the contents of it, alas that was the job of Meiyu, not the resident troll of Slytherin house.

He knew it, he knew he had good reasons to hate this girl. As he just then decided that his disliking deserved to be promoted to hate. Her words, though he was trying to ignore it, hurt more then he cared to admit. An insult to start it all off. Calling him 'Shortie', getting the facts wrong. She had not stolen his seat. He was sitting in his seat, she had merely sat at his desk. Then the worst of it- Calling him out. He wouldn't admit it, not to anyone. He had also thought he hid it well enough. Then again, everyone who knew the Amani line, knew how proud they were about all of them being in Gryffindor.

Then Oliver, had as Meiyu put it, couldn't appease. He failed, messed up, disappointed, let them down, And perhaps had even upset them, with his house placement. They had told him to keep his grades up, so he'd been doing that. Having all O's, for the most part. Sure he had an E here or there. He had tried to tell himself that everyone had a class or two they weren't good at, It had done little to help the desire to please his parents. If he failed from the second he arrived, he would please them with his grades. Right?

"Shut up." He told the girl glaring at her, he had been mad at her before she even said anything. Now she had to just say something. Open her stupid mouth, from her stupid face, And spew nonsense. "You don't know anything about my family." Oliver never liked anyone talking about his family in a negative light. Even when he was younger. Armani's were raised to be proud people, proud of where they came from. Oliver had also been told once or twice that he was 'anger prone'. With simple math there, it wasn't a real shock that he reached for his wand.

The wand, it felt perfect for him, from the moment he got the wand, he had a feeling it was
made for him. He pointed it at the girl, another Gryffindor that shouldn't belong. No one in this damned year that had been placed in Gryffindor should have been. The mess that was Sandy the Mudblood. That should have stayed in stupid Muggle schools. See if the floors talked there. Aodhan Shaw, a boy annoying. Very annoying, another birthday crasher. Obnoxious to. Should have been- well Oliver didn't know but not Gryffindor. And Meiyu. Stupid. Stupid. Meiyu.

He would much rather like her if she was a squib, see how well her family liked her then. Then she would feel like the disgrace, see how well she could appease her family then. Why he grabbed his wand? He really didn't know. He wasn't thinking, Thought's clouded by anger from the girl speaking like she knew him. When she didn't know shit about him or his family. "Tarantallegra." He spoke it perfectly of course he did, and yet.... Nothing. Stupid. Stupid. Oliver now. Why did he ever think that would work? His casting was bad, and now everyone knew. Everyone would know he couldn't do it. He couldn't do it at all, couldn't be placed right. And couldn't cast right. "Stupid wand." Was all he could trust himself to say without making a bigger fool of himself.

One thing Meiyu would have never presumed Troll Armani to be was bold, likely why he had not been placed in Gryffindor, rather Slytherin instead. He was evidently cunning, resorting to spell casting in a classroom prior to class starting, not caring if the professor were to catch him in his little sly act. By this point, Meiyu's interactions with snakes often led this way, the snakes more often than not resorting to pointing their wands at her. On the other hand, she did not expect his cast not to work, his failure bringing a light smirk to her face as her gaze diverted between the tip of his wand and his expression.

"Perhaps stick to your little plants Armani, duelling isn't for you." She mocked, her tone dripping with sarcasm as she used her index finger to move his wand back down. Her cat like eyes glaring past his own to monitor whether or not the professor had entered the greenhouses yet, fortunately Sarai had yet to do so, which was a blessing on his behalf. Though, she was unsure whether or not the favour would be on her behalf despite her earlier provocation. "Besides, what would possess you to risk your little reputation as Herbology's top student if you started acting up? Learn to control your temper." Meiyu continued, giggling a little with her last remark. Who was she to say that, given her own temper controlled her rather than the opposite.

Although, it was fun to tease the boy who had not been blessed with looks, pushing the troll's buttons proved to be fruitful this morning. He made it so easy, almost too easy. Meiyu did not need to scavenge for details to gain ammunition, it was evident with his behaviour, one she knew too well when it came to appeasing parents in any way possible, though fortunately for her, her parents have always been supportive of her. It was a reason why she never cared if anyone mentioned her parents or her grandparents for the matter, she was fortunate enough to not be one of the wizards subjected to pre-historic blood purity, also, likely accredited to Meiyu being the first and eldest witch born amongst the existing grandchildren gave her preferential treatment within her family, even if it came with consequences such as a looming legacy she did not care to delve into along with societal expectations.

"Tell me, Troll Amarni," She began once more, emphasising the nickname she had chosen for the creature who stood in front of her, who appeared like a small toddler throwing a tantrum at her mere presence. "How does it feel knowing you can't make your parents proud and failing to cast a simple little spell? Must be frustrating, I imagine." She teased, her head tilting slightly to the side as she sized him up and down, if it were ever to come to a duel or physical altercation, Meiyu would easily win without a doubt. Yet despite it all, she hated how he took her rightful place in Slytherin. If it had not been for him, she would have likely had access to their chambers, seeking the snake she had sought for what felt like weeks, yet he was the one who had the ability to gain proximity to him and that was what she hated the most.

The world was cruel at times, but this was a form of cruelty she would not bother to inflict on others. Their shared bitterness on house placements would not prove enough to mend the broken bridge between them, they were in too deep now, yet, Meiyu would not give him the satisfaction of making her dislike towards him evident enough to be a mutual hatred.
