Yes - spell casting/backfiring is wisdom-based (not accuracy).
Accuracy is do you hit the target or do they dodge? So if you're duelling, it would be your accuracy vs. their evasion. If you have 0 accuracy, you're unlikely to hit anyone or anything.

Basically, in our moderated events (such as sports or events), spells are cast by a roll (a 20 sided dice) + wisdom. This is done on the discord server. It's a bit complicated if you're not used to it but it will be done for you if you're a participant and not a moderator.
Since it's a dice roll, there's a chance of rolling any number between 1 to 20. If you roll a 1, you "critical fail" usually. This means that the spell will backfire or go wrong in some way - you can see examples in the duelling system: viewtopic.php?t=11802
Perfectionist reduces that so that if you roll a 1, you do not critically fail. You may still fail, yes, but you don't have the adverse effects of it. You need to beat a certain number in order to cast (that depends on the spell).
So in short - Wisdom is useful if you're doing anything that requires that stat (spell casting, catching the snitch etc) and Perfectionist can help prevent negative effects but it doesn't guarantee auto-success.
