Friendly Roommate Rivalry
midday towards the beginning/middle of the school year
clear & cool weather
Unfortunately for everyone else around her- the main victims her fellow roommates- Lea started utilizing the power she held as upper year, captain, and 'Mum' (she was still grappling with that one, but enough people had agreed with it that it seemed futile to fight the honorary title). It would start with Haven, joining a 'club' with only a wand and warning of not to get hit too much. With that, duelling would be relatively set so long as she could keep the Sixth Year put. Convincing someone older than her boosted confidence enough to transition her attention towards the far less familiar sport of Quidditch. She spied that Camilla, nearly the youngest of Plant Palace, had expressed interest in the sport yet would have little experience with controlled magic only a recently opened avenue. While she personally had no experience playing the sport let alone staying on a broom longer than absolutely necessary, Alyssea - Quidditch Chaser, Broom Racing Captain, and fellow roommate- had more than enough experience to make up for Lea's incompetence on the pitch.
The Fifth Year studied crisscross on her bed, eyes flickering between the book before her and anyone who dared enter the dorm. There would be no escape for her two new targets, a small gasp when the two happened to both cross the threshold into the room. Another pamphlet would hold her place in the reading as she quickly closed the textbook before hopping off her bed to catch the attention of them both.
"Alyssea, Camilla? Do you both happen to have some free time right now? Wonderful, follow me. Oh- and bring your brooms if you have them." She wouldn't wait for a reply, marching towards the exit before watching them expectantly. The Hufflepuff had been kind enough to choose a time of relative peace classwork-wise plus she anticipated that they would enjoy this practice after the confusion, but any other potential plans they had would be ungraciously discarded. Either out of confusion, curiosity, or wanting a lack of confrontation- the others seemed to oblige.
Their following brought them to the quidditch pitch- not an unusual spot to arrive with brooms but certainly a little more when it wasn't a full team. Lea glanced up just to make sure others weren't around or taking up too much space before she finally turned to address the two. "Official practices are only for the team- perhaps a little unfortunate for the waitlist, but I figured this might be a good opportunity. Alyssea is a current chaser, Camilla is interested in being one... while I can't provide the experience, Alyssea can. And I- can moderate." A smile formed at the end, covering the little tug of frustration over her own lack of skill in this field. She hadn't cared before but now it was her responsibility to care for the sport and thus, partially, how she could do in it. But that was besides the point for right now. Brown eyes glanced between the two with an eyebrow raised, arms motioning slightly towards the pitch. "So, what do you say? A 1 on 1 competition- I've found people learn best from diving right in."
THIS IS A SUPER UNOFFICIAL 1 v 1 CHASER QUIDDITCH:
- I will not be stringent on any sort of deadlines. Preferably it remains moving since I suspect this could end really quickly, I will poke people if not.
- Any chaser related move is available- this includes blatching.
- 'Winner' will be determined based on points scored.
- Since there are only 2 chasers and no one else, it takes a roll of 5 + min accuracy competing in that round to grab the quaffle or score.
- You are free to say you borrowed brooms, including a Silver Arrow or a Bluebottle. I can temporarily give it for this or just know that you are using one of my brooms.
- All of these rules are mutable. If you feel things should be changed or added, let me know!
Interactions. @Alyssea Brown, @Camilla Carter
OOC: My device is about to die, if any changes need to made let me know! But thank you for participating & apologies with how messy this is :3

| Sports had quickly rooted themselves into Alyssea's life at Hogwarts with such violence that it's hard to imagine life without them. When you really think about it, she's done too much for a Third year—heck, maybe even just Second year in general. Alyssea hadn't participated in sports during her First year, her defence being that she wasn't built for it. Then came Second year and suddenly she was doing everything? Yeah, no one knew what she was doing either. And yes, it did stir a bit of an identity crisis for the little badger. Thankfully, she had a lovely (future) sister-in-law to ease her worries about such nonsense and Alyssea had just accepted her very jock-adjacent nerd life. Alyssea grabbed her Silver Arrow on the way down to the training pitch. She studied the handle and bristles. Now that she'd switched into a broom sport, broomcare was more important than ever. George had given her an extensive list when she became captain but rarely put it to use. Where did she put that list again? She could only hope she hadn't left it at home. Her very jock-adjacent nerd life also included training the little ones interested in taking her position. Uh oh. Hadn't it just been months ago when she asked Piérre to help her with Quidditch training? Gods, she was not ready for this. However, it was her roommates and you couldn't really turn down the opportunity to get to know your roommates. If Camilla wanted to know the ins of being a Chaser, and if Lea wanted to spend more time on the pitch to prepare for being a captain, then Alyssea was happy to oblige for some quality time. (She knew how important these pseudo-training sessions were for any budding captain who didn't initially play the sport. Although, Alyssea would have some opinion of how often these should be done before it became too much of an obsession. Speaking from experience, of course.) She nodded. "Sounds good! Experience is always the best teacher." And with that, Alyssea mounted her broom, kicked off and headed towards the center. She'll probably have to go easy on Camilla considering this wasn't meant to be a proper training session, of course. Just before the whole thing started, she turned to Camilla. She would probably like a rundown from one Chaser to another. "Chasers usually just quaffle grab and score, but we can also save falling players and blatch opponents—that's illegal, though. If you have questions, just ask!" With that, she set off. |
