Iris entered the bookstore with her father's friend with whom she had been living for a few months now. She walked towards a shelf, when Hailey - for that was her name - pulled her by the collar of her navy blue t-shirt, which Iris had carefully matched with white jeans, navy blue ankle boots, and the ribbon of the same color that held her curly hair in a ponytail.
- Iris, she reprimanded, her voice stern. We're here to get your school supplies, not to get lost in the bookshelves again.
Iris looked at Hailey sheepishly, her cheeks flushed with embarrassment.
- Sorry, she mumbled, adjusting her t-shirt. I just can't resist the magic of books.
Hailey sighed and took Iris' hand in hers, her tone softening slightly.
- I know you love books, Iris, but we're here for a purpose. You have to get your school supplies.
Iris suddenly released her hand from Hailey's. They walked through the aisles, searching for the items on the list. Iris' eyes were still drawn towards the colorful spines of the books, but she tried to focus on the task at hand.
- Do we need quills? she asked, holding up a quill with a purple plume.
Hailey glanced at the quill, then consulted the list.
- No. We’re in a Books Shop, please.
Iris carefully added the quill aniway to the small pile of supplies they had gathered.
