My dear family,
I haven't been able to write to you since I arrived, so I'm doing it now. I miss you all so much, more than I ever thought I would.
After I said goodbye to you at the station, the trip began. It seemed quite short, to be honest, partly because of my nerves and partly because I was having such a good time.
When we arrived, we crossed a huge lake by boat until we reached the castle. It's the most beautiful and biggest place I've ever seen in my life. It's full of suits of armour, portraits that talk and visit each other, and lots of students excited to start the course. First years have to sort us into one of four houses: Gryffindor, which is characterised by its bravery, loyalty, and chivalry; Slytherin, for its cunning, intelligence, and ability to get what it wants in any way; Ravenclaw, for its intelligence, creativity, individuality and even eccentricity; and Hufflepuff, for its loyalty, hard work, kindness, and love of nature. To do this, we are given a talking hat (admittedly a bit old) which, by entering our minds, puts us in the one it sees fit.
At first, I thought (and you probably did too) that I would be put in Ravenclaw, but I ended up in Hufflepuff. Honestly, I was surprised (a good one, of course). Even so, I love this house, everyone is very good, and their values fit me quite well. The girls I share a room with are also Hufflepuff (the rooms are in houses, just like the common rooms) and they are lovely. The house prefect has also been a hit with me, she helped me after a little incident in the library, which by the way, is huge and I love it.
Don't worry about me, everything is going well here, so far I haven't had many problems. I still don't know anyone, maybe that's why, but it's only a matter of time before I make friends. I definitely like this school a lot.
And again, I remind you that I love you and I miss you

I will try to write you more letters and more often. Greetings to all!
Hugs,
Alice
