The best place in Hogwarts
2nd September, 16.00 after class
Ever since she got the letter Sabrina couldn't wait to visit the possibly most magical place of all magical places.
She was alternating between fast walking and almost jogging, unable to conseal her excitement, giggling everytime she thought about where she was headed.
Finally, she reached the large wooden doors to the Library. That was the first thing since hurrying out of the Ravenclaw Common room that made her stop, or at least slow down.
She unconciously starightened, swallowing dry. This was it.
She reached out her hand, fingers hovering over the silver handle for just a moment before wrapping around it, turning it.
In the end, she had to lean into the door with her shoulder to push it open, eyes closing while doing so.
Once she opened them again, her breath caught in her throat. It was even more enchanting than she imagined.
The space was enormous, thousands of bookshelfs lining one side of the room, tables with quills and parchments standing on the other.
She slowly made her way towards the bookshelfs, catching a sight of another set of tables (and even a fireplace?!) on the other end as she did.
Her head tilted back as she turned in slow circles, just taking all of the beauty in, eyes wide and mouth agap.
Books were occasioanlly flying through the air. She watched them slide into and out of their assigned places with endless fascination.
After a while of just staring, she started walking down the aisle, her fingers ghosting over the backs of the books, as if touching them would give her an electric shock.
It took a good half an hour before she actually picked out a book, briefly listing through it before closing it again, hugging it to her chest with a distracted smile.
She skipped over to the tables, finding an uncoppied one, sliding down into one of the wooden chairs.
Legs folded beneath her, she reopened the book in her lap, hunching over it excitedly.
This was the first time she visited, but she already felt right at home. And even tho she didn't even see all of the school ground, she was sure this was the most magical place here.

Karina was losing her mind. She needed a place that was just simply away from all the drama. She stumbled through the halls, today was one of the 1st times when she didn't get any homework so she needed something to do. She looked around, trying to find something to do before dinner, when a crowd of students scrambled into a doorway, pushing Karina inside. The moment Karina came in, she felt her heart race. She loved to read, and so far, she hadn't opened a single book (Besides her textbooks) since she got here. Karina took a deep breath and began. She began to find a book. She searched and searched but seemed to interested in their titles than in the books. "What on Earth is Arithmancy?" She wondered. She suddenly came across a book called, "The Handbook of Hippogriff Psychology". She thought it was an interesting book, so she took it off the shelf. Now, all she had to do is find someplace to read it.
Karina walked around, feeling as if the library was some kind of maze. Finally she made her way towards the tables. All of the tables were almost fully filled. Every time Karina tried to scoot into a spot, someone pushed her away. It took her a while until she actually found an open chair. She finally found a seat by a girl, who was smiling as she was reading a book. Her name was Sabrina. Karina had seen Sabrina in the halls before, but never really talked to her. She decided that she was going to talk to Sabrina, or at least thank her for letting Karina sit by her. She opened her book, read the first couple of sentences and finally decided that she was going to speak up, "Hey, Sabrina right? What are you reading? I hope you don't mind me sitting here."

The best place in Hogwarts
Sabrina was so invested in her book that she didn't even notice the girl that quietly joined hed.
She jumped a little when the girl spoke, biting into her bottom lip that she was absentmindedly mulling between her teeth.
She hissed, quickly licking it before looking to aside to see who was it that spoke.
There sat a young slytherin girl with dirty blonde hair tied in a loose ponytail, probably around her age. Sabrina was sure that she has seen her around in the corridors and sitting at the Slytherin table in the Great hall.
But she's never interacted with the girl, so it came as a bit of a surprise when she adreessed her by name.
Her brows furrowed for a moment as she tried to recall an instance when the girl could've learned her name. After a moment she came to a conclusion that she just must've overheared it when her friends adressed her.
She smiled, a little emberassed that she wasn't as observant, having no idea what the other girls name might be.
"Hi! Woah you spooked me a bit. I don't mind you sitting here at all.
And yeah! Sabrina Lyons, Brie for short. Nice to meet you... Em, sorry, what was your name again?"
She shifted to face the girl, offering her her hand, tilting her head to aside.
She glanced down at the book still opened in her lap as the girl asked about it.
"Oh, its a book on Thestrals and other XXXX creatures. Its really interesting."
She smiled, seeing the book the other girl brought, leaning a little forward to peek into it.
"The Handbook of Hippogriff Psycholog! I loved that one. Hippogriffs are such.. majestic creatures, aren't they? I'd love to meet one, one day!"

Karina looked at the girl. She had the prettiest eyes, Karina had ever seen. They were gray, but not like regular, grandma-type gray eyes. They were shiny. They looked curious, but in a charming way. Her eyes looked like shiny silver from afar.
"I'm Karina. A first-year in Slytherin. Your book, what is it about? Maybe when you are done with it, you can lend it to me?" Karina giggled. I wouldn't wanna meet a Hippogriff, though. There are some downsides to their personalities! Suddenly there was an announcement. Dinner was going to start. Karina put her book down and held her hand out, helping Sabrina up.

Time: After Dinner. 6pm
Karina didn't see Sabrina at dinner, she sat at the Ravenclaw table but Karina sat at the Slytherin table. Karina ran out of the lunch room, the moment the bell rang. She had about 2 hours or so before she should head to her dormitory. Karina came to the library only to find that her book was gone. She thought that maybe someone put it back on the shelf, but when Karina went to check it's spot, it wasn't there. Suddenly a book, Merpeople: A Comprehensive Guide to Their Language and Customs by Dylan Marwood, came flying at her head, but Karina didn't duck in time. She collapsed on the floor. Her head hurt, probably bruised. She opened her little mirror, which her grandma had given Karina on her 9th birthday, only to find a red bump on her forehead. She rubbed it. Suddenly someone ran past her, picked up the book, and ran back into the hallway. That was weird Karina thought. She decided to look for a new book to read, since she couldn't find her old one.
Karina reached for the first book she saw, trying not to put much thought into finding the Perfect book. "Protection Charm Your Mind: A Practical Guide to Counter Legilimensy. That's interesting, I think... and it's by Franciscus Fieldwake. Huh, I've never heard of him before. Karina flipped to the first page in the book. "Franciscus Fieldwake was an American wizarding author and reporter for The New York Ghost" She read aloud. She walked towards an empty chair and sat down. She looked up, wondering if Sabrina will come back to the Library, and then began to read her book.

"Karina, thats a nice name. It isn't english tho, is it?"
She inquired, shutting the book in her lap, paying attention only to the girl next to her. Her fingers drumming against the hard book leather cover, she listened as Karina continued to speak, nodding as to indicate she followed, crossing her ankles, swiveling on her chair to face her new acquintance.
Her first trip to the library was becoming more and more pleasant.
"Oh, as I said, its on the XXXX creatures. It doesn't go that deep, but its nicely written. Plus, it has great illustrations with descriptions, so I'd definitely recommend it as a way to pass the time!
There's this really interesting chapter on Demiguises-"
She went on, glad that she could share her interest with someone else, flipping through the pages of her book before finally settling on one. She leaned to her side, tilting the book in a way so Karina could see, a wide grin playing on her lips, eyes locked on the text.
"See here? Did you know their furr used to be woved into invisibility cloaks? The invisibility wore off after a while but nonetheless - the whole thing's just awful. How could someone do that, they're just - oh!"
Her head snapped back up as she heared the bell ring, closing her book once more, carefully sliding it into her bag, already having borrowed it. Karina was already on her feet, her hand reached out to helo Brie up. Smiling, she took it, pulling herself up, adjusting the strap on her shoulder walking out of the library and to the Great hall.
She welcomed the calm atmosphere, the everpresent scent of old books and almost dizzing presence of magic. She felt it seap through her skin and into her bones, running through her veins, circling along with her blood.
Taking a deep breath, she felt herself relax, making her way to the tables, fingers ghosting over the backs of the books in shelves to her left side. Looking up, her smile grew, seeing a familiar face, reaching her hand up to wave at Karina, walking towards her.
"Hey Karina, 's okay if I sit with ya?"
Once she was closer, she noticed a red spot on the girls face, just at her hairline. Her brows arching up, she slid down in the chair opposite to the blonde.
"Oi, what happened to your head?"
She asked, pointing at her own forehead, as if mirroring Karina, her other hand reaching into her bag to pull out her book. Karina had a different one this time, but it was placed in a way that she couldn't see the title.

Sabrina was enchanted with her prior visit to the library, hurrying to it as soon as she was done eating - actually, still chewing on her last bite on the way there. "Huh? Oh! My head? Yes, you can sit here as long as you behave!!!!"
Karina pointed at Sabrina, playfully, squinting, "Is that a bird? Porcupines ate my sandwich at lunch?! A mouse is in my stew? Is queen Elizabeth the queen of Australia? My dog is very much purpley plum-kind green. "
Karina felt dizzy, she had no control over her words, something must have happened to her while she was at lunch. Maybe her food was poisoned? Maybe she was cursed, or maybe she just mixed up her apple juice with alcohol? Whatever it was, Karina knew she was gonna pass out.
Karina looked at Sabrina, who was strangely looking back at her. Karina kept babbling nonsense. But in her mind was trying to break out of this curse. Hello? Anyone hear me? Sabrina, why are you looking at me so strangely? Is there something on my shirt? I can't seem to hear myself speaking out-loud, what's happening?!?! Can anyone please respond?
Just then, a blob of red appeared in front of Karina's eyes. It was he scar, she was bleeding, and not a little, but a lot! What was that book made of?
"My doctor is Dr. Suess, did you know that? Also, the Australian Revolution took place on the Titanic. UH! ARE YOU LISTENING TO ME?! SAY SOMETHING!!!!"
Karina was now raising her voice. She had no control over what she was saying, and that was scary. What was happening? What would Sabrina think?

A fond chuckle escaped Sabrina's lips as the girl acknowledged girl.
"Oh, for you I'll tone down my mischiev to the minimum," she says as she starts to pull her book out, eyes sliding down to it. And then, Karina spoke again, talking about - a bird?
The strap of her bag was just slipping from her palm, her grip on it loose, when she halted to a stop, brows quirking up at the girl sitting at the opposite side of the table. She just sat there, half bend over, froze in the motion of putting her bag down.
"A... bird?" she chokes out after a few confused blinks, her stunned expression breaking into a smile again, straightening, both the trap of her bag and her book still in her hands, "Porcupines, mouse in your stew - Karina, what are you talking about? Is it some kind of a riddl-"
But she doesn't get to finish, her brows knitting together, smile wiped clean as the slytherin breaks into unintelligible rambling again, the volume of her tone increasing. Then she calls out to Sabrina, panicked, the sound sending a shiver down Sabrina's spine, involuntarily jerking back, as if getting stung. She's stunned into silence, her mouth hopelessly agap, unable to form any kind of response.
Karina is swaying lightly as she talks nonsense about her doctor and titanic, her paling face contrasting the bright red line of blood that spilled down her brow, over her eye and to her cheek. Sabrina snaps back into reality, brows shooting up. Bag fully slipping from her shoulder and onto the floor, her book landing on the table where she hurriedly threw it, already rounding the table to stand by Karina's side.
Her eyes flickered over the hurt girl, mind swirling as she tried to recall anything her mother might have told her about head injuries. But all she can remember are the principles her mom had repeated to her many times over, rooted deeply within her brain: Stay calm and find help.
"Hey" she says, trying to stay as calm as she could, even managing a weka smile, as she reaches for the girls hands, cupping them with her own "You must've really hurt yourself. Let's go to the hospital wing, yeah?"
She carefully pulls the other girl to her feet, supporting her as they made their way out of the library. She'd get both of their bags later.
