The dreaded day was slowly approaching for Isadora, the day the young girl would have no choice but to attend Castelobruxo. The young girl had mixed feelings of course she would miss being home schooled mainly because she could sleep in a tad bit later unlike for Castelobruxo she would have to awaken attend classes suppose it was not to bad she would be in the same year as her cousins especially Alphonse and that seemed to ease her worries just slightly.
The early morning rays of sunlight creeped through the young girl's dark blue curtains making her crack open her sapphire blue eyes groggily. It did not help the girl was worried and stressed she could barely get a wink of sleep and even when she did finally manage to doze into a restless slumber she felt as if her dreams were plagued with nightmares leaving the girl drained and exhausted when had awoken.
A long dreary yawn escaped the golden tan girl’s face as she rubbed her eyes gently with the palm of her hands. Slowly dozing off once again as the girl's head started nodding off she lost her balance for a second resulting in the girl falling off her bed landing on the ground face first with a light thump. A small whine escaped Isadora’s lips as she sat up leaning against the side of her bed staring up at her ceiling.
Isadora closed her sapphire gem like eyes breathing in slightly her ears pricked with each soft thump and footsteps coming from the front of the house. The soft chattering of her mother’s voices drifted down the hall to the girl's closed door. A sigh escaped the girl's lips once more as she sat up glancing around her room with a solemn expression.
A new school itself was nerve racking what was worse the girl would be alone or so she felt. She had her cousins and most importantly Alphonse would be there. The boy did seem to ease the girl's nerves slightly when she was given the news of attending Castelobruxo; he gave her words of encouragement that made her feel less alone in this vast overcrowded world.
Even though the past year hasn’t been very easy for the young girl due to her lycanthropy curse that was thrusted upon the young girl. If it wasn’t for the fact the girl could be a danger not only to herself but others around her she feared that deeply. The only sense of comfort Isadora had was from Alphonse and her TiTi of course her mothers showed their support and explained if she had any problems arise to inform Alphonse and to owl them immediately.
Isadora felt blessed and extremely thankful for the family the young girl was given. They have been her rock since the incident and have been fairly understanding and loving. Just the right amount of support she needed and now the girl was about to get thrusted into an unknown place full of strangers and an environment that was slightly different. Thankfully Alphonse described Castelobruxo for her but it still made the girl unsettled she was scared, confused and terrified being surrounded by those that she did not know nor been around before it was not something the girl was prepared for honestly, but she had no choice but to get over her fear and charge forward the best she can.
As the young girl continued to sit on the hard wooden floor the sound of her wooden door creaked slightly making the young girl lean her head back on the bed glancing towards the door sapphire blue eyes connecting with dark warm brown eyes. Hearing a soft chuckle escaped her Muma’s lips as she walked gracefully over towards the young twelve year old.
Sitting atop of the bed Makaria gently patted Isadora’s head sensing her daughter's discomfort. This was a fairly big step for the girl. She would be going to a new school practically alone and with the fear of the full moon hanging deeply in the air around the young girl.
“Nervous are we?”
Makaria spoke softly towards her daughter, noticing the girl's sapphire blue eyes flicker down to the ground as she played with her thumb and index finger. Isadora’s heart sped up slightly as she seemed to feel her anxiety return to the surface.
“A ittle, but I’ll be fine.”
Isadora spoke softly, her sapphire blue eyes connecting with her mother's warm dark chocolate brown irises. Slowly easing the nerves that were bubbling inside Isadora’s mind.
Makaria smiled softly as she stood up heading towards the young girls cream pale vanity mirror grabbing a small brush with sturdy bristles along with some coconut oil to gently massage into the young girls hair. As the older woman made her way back to her daughter she sat down behind the girl gently applying the coconut oil into her curls as she slowly started to brush the girls hair starting from the bottom working her way up.
“A new school can be scary, but you're not alone.”
Makaria said calmly as she gently brushed the girl's hair, a soft smile appearing on her face.
Isadora hummed softly to her mothers words. She was not wrong, Isadora knew she would not be fully alone not with Alphonse so close by. But Isadora also feared what if Alphonse ends up abandoning Isadora during the school year? After all, maybe the young boy would be too focused on his friends and school life than to deal with the young girl. That thought alone made Isadora worry more; she did not wish to be a burden to her cousin, especially to the one who has spent plenty of time comforting her and trying to ease her nerves.
Isadora took a shaky breath thinking on a way to explain her feelings to her Muma her fears and concerns, but alas the young girl also did not want to worry her muma after all it would be hard enough for her muma and maman to adjust to Isadora not being home during the school year.
“Right.”
Isadora spoke softly a bit of a light airy tone to her voice as she feigned a small smile to her Muma after all she did not want to worry the poor woman, Isadora felt bad enough just by being dishonest to her Muma it made the girls heart clench with guilt as her heart seemed to race with the guilt. If Isadora was honest it would just add more to the anxiety not only for her but the worry that her Muma would feel.
Feeling the sturdy bristles gently glide through the girl's hair Isadora gazed softly ahead towards the curtains her mind drifted slightly in and out of reality. Would the girl actually fit in at Castelobruxo would she make friends? What would happen if people find out about her secret? What if she doesn’t fit in? What if people question the girl transferring into the school later than other students. Isadora couldn’t help the what if’s her mind seemed to start playing games with her as she grabbed the center of her chest trying to control her heavy breathing.
Isadora closed her eyes thinking of something that could calm her down. Her Muma’s words of encouragement along with Alphonse’s promise, even her Mamans words of endearment seemed to slowly ease the girls nerves. Sighing softly Isadora opened her sapphire blue eyes, her gaze watching the slight drift of her curtain.
Makaria’s eyes softened catching the young girls movements, the young mother could tell Isadora seemed to be having an inner battle, but of course Makaria knew it would not be helpful if she were to intervene with the girls battle only once she admits she needs the help. Of course it made the mother worry nonetheless after all a mothers love is undying and unbreakable.
“Dis will be good for you. ‘Member to write daily.”
Makaria spoke softly to her daughter as she slowly started putting the girls hair up in a high ponytail, her curls cascading around her small heart shaped face and a few loose curls danced around her cheeks.
Isadora turned to look up at her Muma once again, a soft smile etched onto the girls golden tan face. Her sapphire blue eyes shimmered like gemstones in the sun’s light. As if the anxiety had washed away from the girls mind.
“Promise I'll write every day Muma.”
Isadora spoke softly towards her Muma staring in the woman’s caring dark eyes that seemed to bring warmth like a sizzling summer evening.
Isadora tried to have some comfort in her words not only for her Muma but for herself as well. This next step in her life was difficult and a new change Isadora had to admit to that, but a new change isn’t necessarily awful sometimes.
Makaria smiled softly towards her daughter, patting the top of the young girl’s head.
“Come let’s eat.”
Makaria spoke softly as she stood up from the bed heading towards the girl’s bedroom door. Isadora stood up slowly nodding her head following her Muma towards her bedroom door. The mother, daughter duo walked along the wooden floorboards making their way towards the kitchen that seemed to have a mixture of sweet and savory smells wafting in the air.
Luciana turned around greeting her wife softly along with her daughter placing some food onto a serving bowl in the center of the table.
Isadora sat down in her seat awaiting for her mothers to sit down as well so they could begin eating together. The young girls sapphire blue eyes held curiosity as her mind seemed to wander a bit.
The idea of attending Castelobruxo seemed a bit overwhelming not only did the girl have to worry about trying to fit in but also taking the wolfsbane potion every night of the full moon not only that making friends would be a challenge it eased the girl a bit that she had her cousins but even still she feared that Alphonse could turn on her or worse abandon the young girl in the new environment.
Isadora felt her heart race once again while she tapped her index finger quickly against the wood table top. Her ears seemed to slowly get taken over by the sound of her heart beat pounding quickly like a train. Her sapphire blue eyes seemed to zone out glazing over like an icey covered lake. The girl's breathing seemed to fasten slightly.
Makaria and Luciana glanced over at Isadora, noticing the young girls anxiousness both mothers glanced at each other softly before Makaria moved closer, placing her left hand on top of the girls right shoulder.
“You alright Isa?”
Makaria spoke softly, giving her daughter a concerned look while Luciana sat on the girls left hand side. Both mothers seemed concerned that maybe it was too soon to send Isadora, but the mothers knew it was the best thing to do as well. Isadora needed some normalcy in her life, something that was a constant routine. They also felt comfortable knowing her cousins would be there to watch out for her.
Hearing her mothers voice Isadora took a shaky breath feigning a small smile towards her mothers this was not the time to panic, she thought to herself sternly. She could just be overthinking this too much. Sighing softly Isadora glanced down at her food before taking her fork and eating slowly.
“I’m alright.”
Isadora spoke once again, giving her mothers a reassuring nod as she slowly ate her breakfast.
Both her mothers glanced slowly at each other, but decided against confronting the girl about what was going on with her. It was better that way.
After a while Isadora stood up placing her dishes into the sink basin. Before heading towards her room to finish packing before she heads to Castelobruxo for the first time. The young girl could feel her heart quicken once more her Sapphire blue eyes darted around like a timid stray cat.
As the girl entered her bedroom she looked around curiously feeling the uncertainty in her chest once more. The girl was uncertain, truly she feared what could not be seen. She knew she was safe at home. She knew everyone here growing up together not only that the young girl had her mothers, but she also knew her cousins also attended Castelobruxo so she at least had some sense of home with her.
Isadora looked down towards the wooden floorboard her mind seemed to spend if she had gone last year like she was supposed to. The girl would not feel as anxious, but she was also scared if someone found out about her ‘curse’ would they even dare approach her? What if she found herself in a sense of trouble? What if even her family abandoned her?
Clenching her chest with her left hand, Isadora tried to steady her breathing. The young girl could hear her heart beating rapidly in her ears. These what if’s seemed to scare her more and more. The young girl glanced around her room once more, her sapphire blue eyes landed onto a soft baby blue bandana that had the intricate details of lotus flowers and seashells. A soft smile graced the girl's lips as she picked up the bandana placing it in her trunk.
Isadora sighed as she closed her trunk glancing around her room. Her heart still felt anxious, but this was just another start of her adventure. Call it fate, destiny or a curse the girl knew deep down life will be different. How different who knew. But Isadora knew one thing this was her life and she held it in the palm of her hands letting the fear control her would just end up crippling the young girl and that was not going to happen.
Isadora gazed softly down at her trunk as she thought quietly to herself the sound of rushing water from the sink seemed to echo towards her room while the island birds sang a sweet melancholy song that slipped into the girls room. The sweet chirps and twittering of the birds seemed peaceful, while the villagers were slowly awakening up as well.
Isadora turned her sapphire blue eyes towards her windows, noticing the swaying of the curtains. Stepping forward Isadora opened the curtains as the early sun’s rays shined down on the girl, making her cover her face slightly. Her heart picked up once again with the sun's rays glistening into her room while her mind seemed to race once more, but one thought rushed to her mind the sense of adventure a new start. The day has come, the day that will hold the girls first step to a new life and adventure begins.
