Ivy Warren was settling into the courtyard with a muggle book she had brought along: one of her favorites, “The Outsiders”. Ponyboy and Johnny had just run away to avoid the police, as Johnny had stabbed a Soc to save Ponyboy from being drowned by the rest of the gang. Ivy was so enthralled in the book that she hadn't noticed the groups of students gathering around in small groups watching each other play an odd game called gob-stones.

Other students were practicing magic, or hanging around to talk to each other, yet Ivy remained oblivious to it all, lost in the story of the teen greasers. She sat on a cold stone bench without a back, leaned up against the castle wall, flipping the pages, lost in her own little world, yet also keeping a close eye on the time so as not to be late to her next class, after her free period.

It was still all so overwhelming that Ivy took any chance to escape into her book that she could, especially if it resembled her 'boring' or rather simpler muggle life. And though 'The Outsisders' was very melodramatic, it still felt more comfortable than the magical world she was suddenly thrust into a few days ago.

Mellani always went to the gardens or courtyard when she did not have much to do and needed some fresh air. It was officially her third year in this place, which, if you had asked her two years ago, she would have never believed it to exist. She was not really looking forward to her third year, but she was going to continue doing her best at every subject so that maybe she would be able to do something more magical with her life later.

Mellani looked around at all the new firsties, remembering how she used to be one of them. She was so confused about where she was and why she was there, but at the same time, she had fun. Something that seemed to have left her since the summer of 2023. She had gotten over her grief. Or at least she felt that she had. If nothing, at least she wasn't grieving as much as she did then. It had been one year, and that is enough to get a hold of life and move on.

She suddenly noticed another first year who was sitting alone on a stone bench-like thing reading a book. A book that Mellani had seen multiple times, but had never bought. The girl suddenly reminded Mellani of herself. She loved reading, and she spent a lot of her first year using books as an escape from the confusing world of wizards.

"Hey! I've heard of that book, is it good?", Mellani asked approaching the young girl. Maybe the girl needed some help navigating around magic too, and Mellani was more than happy to give her that help, but she had to get to know the girl a bit first, and what better way to do that than talking about books?
