For some of these rules, if you get permission from a staff member and/or a staff member is there to supervise, you will not get in trouble (e.g. if a staff member is hosting a lake swim event, or if staff provide Butterbeer during an event).

1. Skipping class and/or not doing homework is not allowed in any shape or form.
2. No copying homework or cheating on exams.
3. Students must wear their school uniform during school hours unless common clothes are permitted by a professor.
4. Students may not disrespect staff, including prefects.
5. Students may not antagonize house elves, school ghosts or portraits.
6. The following areas are off limits to students:
   1. The restricted section of the library
   2. The kitchens
   3. The Forbidden Forest
   4. The Shrieking Shack
   5. The Whomping Willow
   6. Staffrooms
7. Hogsmeade is off limits to first years and second years. Third years and above must have a signed permission slip.
8. There will be no eating or drinking in the library. This and other library rules can be found posted in the library here.
9. Curfew for younger students (1st year, 2nd year, 3rd year) is 9pm, curfew for older students (4th year and above) is 10pm. You must be in your commons rooms by this time.
10. You may not leave your common rooms before 6 am.
11. Students may not enter the common rooms nor dormitories of houses other than their own.
12. No weapons (other than your wand) on your person at any time.
13. No attempting to injure yourself nor others.
14. No use of flying brooms outside of the Quidditch Pitch and Training Pitch.
15. You may not have duels outside of the Duelling Club.
16. Bullying is not allowed.
17. No racist, sexist, homophobic remarks or insults - including the use of "mudblood."
18. Magic should only be used in relation to studies and extra-curricular activities.
19. Students may not swim in the lake.
20. Stealing is not allowed.
21. No damage to school property.
22. No drinking alcohol on school grounds.
23. No smoking cigarettes or using drugs on school grounds.
24. No unauthorized pets or creatures allowed. No second pets.
