Personality: Though there's little basis for it, Cybele has a nasty habit of assuming she's just inherently better than everyone else. She comes off as vain and egotistical with not much to support it--as she isn't particularly magically gifted whatsoever. She can come off as a little bit obsessive, insistent on others paying attention to her and validating who she is, but at her core, Cybele is fun. When she isn't in her own head, Cybele is down for anything and is very gifted in the art of dance. Cybele has a tendency to get too swept up in what she is doing at any point in time.
History: When American magizoologist Mirella Hatchett met Gideon Abascal, sparks flew. Young, giddy, and filled with the promise of forever, the two young wizards threw caution to the wind in their illicit love affair, completely unconcerned with pureblood courting customs. Things changed when Mirella fell pregnant out of wedlock, and quickly agreed to marry Gideon in order to placate their traditional families. The marriage was not one of disdain, and was built on love, but the sudden nature of the loss of Mirella's profession in magizoology left a mark on the family structure.
The house of Abascal is a big one. Cybele, the youngest of five, was born to Gideon and Mirella on a dark winter's night in Otavalo, Ecuador. She'd been a surprise pregnancy, one that her parents didn't quite yearn for, and quickly become just another in a long line of young Abascals. Throughout Cybele's childhood, though her parents were kind and loving to her, she experienced markedly different levels of attention when compared to her siblings. She never wanted for anything, growing up wealthy and with a seemingly infinite flow of fancy clothing and nice goods. Her oldest sister, Isidora, was her best friend, but their difference in age made it difficult to sustain their close relationship for long. Once Isidora went off to school, Cybele found herself alone, wandering their vast family home and attempting to worm her way into her older siblings' games. Believing herself to be destined for greatness due to her loneliness, Cybele threw herself into studying magic (though her idea of studying was less than apt, compromised of five minutes of reading followed by the assumption that she could do whatever she wanted) and all around believing herself to be better than those around her.
Going into Castelobruxo, Cybele did not have many close friends. Really, she still doesn't, awfully resistant to changing her behavior or acknowledging her shortcomings.
First Magic: Much to the worry of her family, Cybele was a late bloomer. Since her four older siblings experienced their first instance of magic relatively early on, Cybele didn't experience hers until the age of ten and a half. Playing dolls outside with her older sister, Yandri, Cybele was hogging time with the family favorite doll. Yandri yanked the doll out of Cybele's hands when she refused to share, holding it far above Cybele's head in an attempt to keep the doll for herself. In a fit of anger, Cybele began hollering for their mother, and the doll caught fire in Yandri's hands.
Luckily, upon being dropped into the damp grass, the doll extinguished itself. The only injuries were emotional (and the poor, burnt doll).
I really value when people use violence for me, it's actually one of my love languages.
