I Know What It's Like To Be Different
Yong walked into the Abandoned Toilets to escape the overwhelm of Hogwarts. She was only eleven, and a Muggle-born; she was definitely not prepared for this school! Why does this place even accept stupid non-magic folk into this place? Yong thought madly, sitting on the window sill. She placed her satchel next to her and opened it, pulling out a leather diary and a black-inked pen. She proceeded to scribble furiously down into an empty page, letting all of her feelings out.
Finally, Yong became satisfied with how much wrath she had pulled out through the ink on her page. She turned to the next blank page, exhaling. Now Yong had calmed down a bit, she would draw.
It was something Yong had began at a young age: when she would be mad, she would scribble on paper, and then, after calming down, would draw. Well, draw as well as a 2 year old could draw. Yong wasn't the best at drawing, honestly, but she was getting better, and she always did it for herself - not to impress anyone.
At the moment, no one was in the Abandoned Restroom, but she had heard before that it was quite a popular area of the castle for loners, or just anyone in general.

I Know What It's Like To Be Different
Avery entered the abandoned toilets, escaping the crowd outside. He had nothing against crowds, but he needed a moment of quiet. He still hadn't quite gotten used to the school yet.
It took him a moment to notice that there was someone else in the room, and when he did, he he made an akward nervous waving gesture, mumbling some sort of greeting as he brushed his orange hair out of his face and turned away.
The girl appeared to be fairly calm at the moment, with a look of content scrawled over her features that almost made Avery jealous. He knew it wasn't right to feel that way, though. He was raised to never blame others for things they had nothing to do with and it was an ideal that he had no intention of separating from. Plus, he knew the only one he could really blame for his discomfort was himself. He was absolutely terrible at meeting new people, as well as adjusting to new places.
Avery opened his mouth to speak to the girl, but bit his lip when he realized he had nothing to say. "Um, I'm sorry for intruding... I didn't know anyone else was in here," he tried with a weak laugh.

I Know What It's Like To Be Different
As she guided her pen around the page, Yong heard the door open, and all the other students chatting and walking outside. She didn't bother to look up, since she didn't want to seem strange by staring at whoever had walked inside. But she only held that until the person had spoken. It was quiet and timid, but, then again, so was the toilets. "Um, I'm sorry for intruding... I didn't know anyone else was in here."
Yong looked up, sticking the cap back on her pen. "Don't worry. I expected someone to come in sooner or later," Yong replied softly. She smiled at the person who had just entered the Abandoned Toilets. They looked fairly short (well, basically everyone looked short to Yong). And they had... the most beautiful orange hair Yong had ever seen!
She didn't want to seem peculiar by just exclaiming 'YOU HAVE GREAT HAIR', or by just saying it normally. So Yong just kept her smile on her face, thinking of something to say. She placed her leather journal open, upside on the windowsill, with the pen next to it, and her bag there too.
Yong walked up confidently to Avery. "My name is Yong Yukimura," she said, bowing, like she did when visiting family South Korea. She held out her hand for a handshake.

I Know What It's Like To Be Different
Avery smiled in relief. He studied the tall girl's features- dark brown hair and eyes, pearl earrings, and rosy pink skin. He couldn't remember ever seeing her before."Don't worry. I expected someone to come in sooner or later,"
He blushed when he noticed her staring at him, or more specifically, at his hair. He turned away slightly, glancing at the small journal that the girl had placed by her side.
Avery shook her hand hesitantly, confused by her sudden bow. He wondered if he should do the same. “I'm Avery Gardner,” he said instead, biting his lip. “It's nice to meet you." He wasn't exactly the greatest at introductions, since meeting new people in general was something that made him nervous."My name is Yong Yukimura,"
Avery shuffled his feet nervously. "So, um, is that your journal?" He asked quietly, pointing at the object in question. He had a journal of his own, but it was really more of a sketchbook. Sketching was a bit of a hobby of his. He especially liked to draw plants and landscapes, but occasionally he would do sketches of people and animals as well. He couldn't help but wonder what was in Yong's journal, but he knew it would be impolite to ask, and he didn't want to invade her privacy.

The person across from Yong shook her hand and introduced themselves; Avery Gardner. Secretly Yong had always wanted a normal, English name. For example, Avery was a good one, or Jane, or Elizabeth. But she had to have a Korean name because she resembled her father most and he thought it best if she had a Korean name much like his side of the family.
Avery seemed to look past Yong - behind her - and then asked a question. "So, um, is that your journal?"
Yong looked over her shoulder at where Avery was referring. Honestly, she didn't really know what Avery had meant, until she spotted her leather, open, yet upside down journal next to her bag, with her black pen next to it. Yong turned her head back round to Avery, looking him (but Yong doesn't know that) up and down. Not in a rude way but in a way to examine his features.
"Yes, yes it is," Yong replied, not understanding whether or not Avery was hinting at wanting to have a look inside. "I write and draw in it."
Yong was usually really confident, but it didn't seem so at the moment because there was a misunderstanding. She turned her head at an angle, as if she had stopped short whilst looking over her shoulder. "If you want to look inside, you can just ask..." she said as kindly as she could, not that she was impatient, pointing behind her with her thumb.

I Know What It's Like To Be Different
Avery shuffled his feet again. He didn't want to invade her privacy- even he himself felt sort of uncomfortable when people looked at his sketches, so it probably wasn't a fair thing to ask of her."I write and draw in it."
“Oh,” Avery bit his lip. “I mean, if you're fine with it… I don't want to intrude anything…” he mumbled, tilting his head sideways. A strand of orange hair fell in front of his face."If you want to look inside, you can just ask..."
The bathroom was relatively quiet, aside from the echoes of laughter from outside in the halls. Avery stepped toward the girl tentatively, taking a seat next to her on the ledge and pulling his legs closer to his body. The little bit of light coming in from the windows was gentle, and it gave the room an early morning feeling. Avery’s cheeks turned pink at the sudden quiet.
He noticed a small leaf sitting on the windowsill, still green, though the edges we're beginning to wilt. Unable to help himself, he picked it up and held it tightly between his fingers. His love for plants was really not something he could explain, and at this moment, it was really just plain weird. He pocketed the small leaf and turned back to Yong.

At Avery's kindness, Yong smiled brightly. "Go ahead, take a look," she said cheerfully, walking back to her journal. She closed it and handed it to Avery.
"Just a heads up, I would avoid the diary entries. I usually don't like to look back at them so I just look at the drawings."
Yong took a seat next to her satchel, where she had been sitting earlier. Currently, or at least until Avery had walked in, Yong was working on a drawing of the whole group of BTS, all lined up, smiling happily. She had only gotten to outline 4 of them with her pen: Jin, RM, Jungkook and J-Hope. Suga, V and Jimin were still just lines of pencil.
Usually, Yong wouldn't show people her drawings because she didn't want to be broken by a tough critic. But she made an acceptation for Avery, since he seemed nice, and honest yet kind-hearted. If he did critique Yong, then he wouldn't break her, like she was scared everyone else would.
Instead, she hoped, Avery would say, if he didn't like it, something along the lines of: "It's nice, but perhaps try something different next time. Overall, keep up the amazing work!"
Yong bit her bottom lip hopefully.
