An Official Start to Her Adventure Solo

"Come on! You guys are a bunch of flobberworms," Colby called out to her parents and brother as they were making their way to King's Cross. Colby was lugging one of two suitcases down the brick and concrete platform towards platforms nine and ten. Her father, lugging the other one, was working hard in keeping up with his daughter who was obviously showing a lot of enthusiasm and excitement for her next big adventure. His free hand was supporting his wife by gently touching the lower of her back to keep her going with their fast-paced walk.

"I am not a flobberworm!" shouted back her younger brother, Darius. He was only a couple feet ahead of his parents and a few feet behind Colby, jotting left and right to bypass people and obstacles. Only four years younger than Colby, he worked a little harder with more steps to keep up with his sister.

Colby stopped in her tracks when she had made it right in between platforms nine and ten. She looked at the large brick column that divided the platforms evenly. It was through there that she had to go in order to get on the Hogwarts Express on platform nine and three-quarters. Her green eyes sparkled at the thought and she looked over at her family who had just caught up to her, breathing heavily in comparison.

Her father looked around the station. The area was crowded, but not too crowded. He gently put down the suitcase and walked over to the other side of the station. Colby watched for a second and shrugged, giving up on what he was doing. Her mother, a Healer at St. Mungos, knelt down just a little to reach Colby's height and smiled at her daughter. "How do you feel?" she asked. Colby shrugged at the thought of how she felt. She had no idea what to feel. She was both extremely excited to be a part of a school that her parents once were a part of, and yet, she was sad to not have her parents right by her side. For some reason, she did not want to share this with them, but it seemed her mother, being her mother, knew. "It's okay to have double-dip feelings. I know I did when I went at your age, especially not knowing anything about the magical world," she said, her smile calming.

"I just don't know what's going to happen. You or dad haven't told me anything about Hogwarts in detail. Just about how you met and what your favorite classes were," she said, crossing her arms. It was almost like her parents were setting Colby up for failure. Her mother couldn't help but to give a little giggle, "because it's your turn for your adventure. Everyone's is different. I can't tell you what this year will bring compared to when I went. Even your father's was drastically different from mine and we were there together," she explained. Colby rolled her eyes. She heard this already and did not have the mindset to understand why they would throw her someplace that she had no vision about. Then again, they would not even know how it would be for a werewolf at Hogwarts. When they went to school, there were no such thing as different races joining. It was unknown for them, too.

"Colbs, I'm turning your room into my hangout," her brother interrupted with a smirk. Colby looked at him with a glare. "You will not!" she retorted. "I'm only gone for a few months a year. My room stays as my room!" Darius couldn't help but to grow his smirk into a wide smile. Colby wanted to strangle him and was just about to jump at him when her father reappeared from the crowd. With him was a suitcase cart. "Now, now. We've discussed this. Colby's room is not to be touched when she's at school," he said, his eyebrows perked up as if reminding Darius of their expectations. He then looked to Colby with a smile. "Colby, help me put your suitcase on here." Colby felt a sense of relief, but still took to herself to squint her eyes at Darius.

Taking her suitcase, she placed it on the cart. The other suitcase was placed on top. Her father tested out the cart by rocking it back and forth and the suitcases stayed in place. "Good," he said to himself, proud that he had found this unused and knowing it would be easier for Colby to get through the brick wall and onto the train.

A whistle blew in earshot of the family. It was for platform nine, but it allowed the family to focus on their next step together: to say goodbye. Luckily, it wasn't a permanent one, but it felt like it to Colby. Her eyes were slowly watering up when her mother came closer to give her a big hug. "You will do wonders your first year," she said, proud of her daughter. Her father soon wrapped his arms around his daughter with excitement. "Stay out of trouble, young lady!" Colby couldn't help but to smile in the midst of her beginning stages of crying. "Family hug!" screamed Darius and the entire family hugged each other as their first goodbye of the school year. Colby knew that she would be back for the winter, but it was still a long stretch without them by her side every day.

The hug had ended and Colby reached for the cart. She walked towards the right side of the brick column and watched a couple future classmates enter. Some jogged through while others went as fast as they could. Colby, knowing herself, would end up doing the latter. She looked at her parents who were standing together and she gave them a small smile as a last goodbye of the moment. Her parents looked hopeful and excited for her. But all Colby could think that there was something missing.

As she was etching towards the front of the line, she overheard her brother ask her parents if the basement could now be a playroom again with her gone. Her mother hushed him up immediately. But it did struck Colby straight in the heart. She did not bear to show it. The playroom was changed into a dungeon because of her. It was where she was shackled every full moon where she could transform safely, and away from her family. Clearing her throat, she took the thought out of her mind and wiped her cheeks of any tears that escaped the tear ducts of her eyes.

It was now her turn. With determination, she raced as fast as she could into the wall with her eyes closed. She felt no wall, no temperature shifting, nothing. After a fast run, she immediately opened her eyes. She was now in platform nine and three-quarters. To the side of her was the Hogwarts Express.

Her adventure has now officially started.
