It was near the end of the holidays when Aston and his father went to Diagon Alley again, this time not only with the intention of getting Aston what he needs for another year at Hogwarts but also to get him a pet! In the holidays without his friends and with his dad mostly at work the house felt so so deafening quiet. Before even if his parents were busy there was some kind of sound. But now it's like even when his dad is home he is uncharacteristically quiet. He's probably thinking about mom again, I swear something has been different since she left. No matter the reason, Aston is now getting a pet from his father, a little guy or gal to keep him company.

He stepped into the pet shop in Diagon Alley, the Magical Menagerie, Aston immediately noticed how lively it is. There are so many adorable creatures here and Aston wants a good look at all of them. He knows cats and owls are common for wizards and witches, but they never did spoke to him the way some others did. "What do you think I should get dad? It feels like there's so many options." Aston looked to his father for advice, like he did his whole life. "I don't know Aston, have a look around, you can pick anything, just make sure it's a decision you won't regret." Aston nodded at the response, despite his fathers smile and the words he used Aston could kind of tell he isn't just talking about getting a pet. Mom really did have quite an effect on him...

Deciding to put all that aside for now, Aston moved closer to the selection of pets at the store, that was when a little ferret caught his eye. It wasn't small by ferret standards, definitely an adult and a decent sized one at that. A dark brown ferret with black eyes, it was looking right at Aston. He approached the animal and held his hand out in front of it, hoping that it would come over and let Aston give it some pets. It came up and set its head near Aston's hand, taking the hint Aston gave it some pets on the head, deciding that it was the one. "Give me a second, I'll be right back." Aston whispered to the ferret before going to tell his father his choice, after a smile and a nod from his father they went to ask the shop owners, the elderly couple running the shop seem quite friendly, Makes sense for people who run a pet shop.

"Excuse me, could I please get that ferret over there? " Aston asked, gesturing to the ferret that will soon be his. "Oh that jill over there? Of course, she's a bit over a year old now I'm sure you will take good care of her. What will you call her?" Said the woman who is now walking over to the jill with Aston and her father. Aston thought about a name for the ferret, a good one. She will be Aston's companion and keep him company, he has to give her a good name. After a few dismissed names Aston finally thought of a good one. "Rosales, I will call her Rosales, after one of my favourite flowers." The order of roses was a good name to Aston, a beautiful one. He smiled as he picked her up, happy to have Rosales in his life. A companion that I know won't leave me, this is going to be great.
