Background

Physical Description: Vera is like a pocket sized multi tool. Her 145cm of height are just about tall enough for you to notice she's there and her square build gives her enough elbowing force a curious child needs to get to the front of any group of gawkers that piques her interest. She has grey eyes and short brown hair that is constantly either in her face or put up in a ponytail of sorts to prevent said in-faceness from happening. When coming from home or wandering around after the weekend, she is usually sporting a scuff mark or two (or more) from whatever outdoor adventure she embarked upon in her free time.

Mental Description: When just out and about, Vera is not the friendliest looking 11-year-old out there (it's really a family trait) - often with a serious expression on her face and always looking around, not a chatterbox or a loud child by any standard.

Her reaction to things or people that interest her is, on the other hand, an honest and open one as she's eager to learn. Vera's curiosity occasionally clashes with her hesitancy to interact with new stuff and people. This doesn't hold her back from barrelling headfirst towards whatever strucks her interest. However, it might mean that once she's actually there, she will take a couple moments to assess before she interacts, too stubborn to let you see her shaking in her boots because she once again forgot that approach means people will start talking to you.

With those she knows, she can be easy-going and playful, often one to keep a joke going for as long as possible, amping up its absurdity or whackiness.

Biography: Vera grew up in a Muggle household. Her mother Anna comes from Central Europe and moved to Scotland for work in early 2000s and found an analyst job at a graphic design company. Here she met Vera's father Derek, a Scot through and through. They got married within 2 years of knowing each other and have been living together in Glasgow ever since, occasionally visiting both grandparents and the respective families. Vera has an older brother Matt who's 15 and a younger brother Tobias who's 6.

Upon insistence of both of her parents, Vera, as well as her siblings, grew up in a wide multilingual community in their neighbourhood, often making friends at whatever club or society her parents dragged her to. She was never a general popular kid, but rather one to be "adopted" into a group and make her place there.

First Instance of Magic: One time when Vera was 7, her parents brought her their favourite community cook-out. Dressed in one of her mum's poor attempts at sewing a nice blouse (Anna dropped the hobby not long after), Vera was getting picked on by a group of older kids when her parents weren't around. They wouldn't leave her alone and soon Vera started crying. Too distraught to go looking for her parents, Vera headed to their car parked outside of the community centre, hoping to hide away there for a bit. Despite Derek locking the car when they headed in earlier, the doors were unlocked now, so Vera got in. Her parents found her sitting there less than half an hour later, the car now locked again.
