Jack was not impressed by a lot of things; at least not after his inital year at Hogwarts after learning that magic existed. The gargoyle that had become employed to guard the History of Magic's classroom toward the end of his fifth year, if he recalled correctly, but he'd been so busy with studying for cumulative tests, completing final assignments, and other preparations for the end of the school year that he hadn't gotten a chance to really inspect it, much less talk to the newest History of Magic Professor about it. In fact, he hadn't really gotten a chance to talk to her at all.

The Welsh youth didn't make a habit of talking to professors much, particularly not recently, since he had bad experiences with them in the past during incidents involving Victor Moore and the covens of hags that once plagued the school. If they had only been able to do something about the hags sooner, Flash might not have had to to lose his eye and Jack might not have had to bargain with a hag disguised as a student in his own house in order to get it back and remove the remaining curses on him.

However, Jack had always loved history, so History of Magic as a subject always had a special place in his heart. And, by extention, so too did History of Magic professors. At least so long as they didn't give him reason to kick them out.

But this professor was new. She likely wasn't aware of what had gone on prior regarding Victor or the hags. He couldn't blame her for things she'd had no power over or knowledge of. So, he decided one day, perhaps it was worth attempting to get to know just what kind of person she was to want to teach the subject she did.

Why, for example, had she employed the gargoyle? Jack thought he might have vaguely heard something about students messing with classrooms, but his fifth year, he'd been so out of it and mostly spending his time trying to escape his human feelings and issues by spending time as a new animagus fox that he hadn't really paid attention for once. Perhaps he'd be given an answer if he asked Professor Lennox directly. But first he had to figure out how to get past her stone guard.

That in itself seemed like fun. It was like the riddle of the sphinyx and boy did Jack love riddles and puzzles; anything to test his intellect against. He wondered where the gargoyle had been made and what culture or cultures had influenced its design. More questions to ask the professor once he was able to see her.

The gargoyle had growled at him when he'd come close, its eyes glowing an ominous red. Jack walked right up to the being and grinned at him. He was pretty magnificent, even by gargoyle standards. More on the intimidating side than ugly, silly, or particularly beastial.

The last History of Magic class has ended a few minutes ago and Melisande rushed to her office so she could finally focus on the letter that had just arrived that morning, having already been waiting for this for a few months, Joffrey took his time to finally reply to her. She knew why, her former colleague still hadn't completely forgiven her after she abandoned their team, but after the last archeological finding in Greece, Meli couldn't stop herself from personally reach out for more information.

The envelope she had received contained a piece of parchment and a photo of the place. She gave a brief glance to the picture and chose to read the letter first. Apparently the place dated back from the Minoan civilisation of Crete, about four thousand years ago, which means if it contained magic, or if it was built with the aid of magic, was in its rawest form without the use of wands. That, or imbued in it, after so many millennia of rituals, like what happened with other ritual sites already re-discovered by our civilisation.

The History of Magic professor was reading through the details of its construction and most known theories when she heard a growling sound coming from her classroom's door. It looked like someone was trying to enter and her Gargoyle gave the sign of alarm. What a good acquisition it was. Asdrúbal, so far, had proven himself worthy of all the trouble he had put into acquiring him as her guardian. As she didn't hear any footsteps coming and because it was still early afternoon, Melisande thought it best to go and check what was going on, whether any of her students had forgotten anything after the last class or whether anyone needed her.

Putting the letter aside on top of her desk, Lennox walked from behind her working table heading to her classroom's door. Once there, she immediately recognised the boy grinning at Asdrúbal. "Magnificent isn't he?" She asked with a bit of playfulness in her tone, "To what do I owe the pleasure Mr. Burnett?" She continued, now slightly frowning at him with curiosity. "If you need, we can talk in my office?" She finished offering, gesturing towards inside the room.
