─────She felt the warmth of the sun on her face, and felt a little breeze. She was so comfortable, and refused to open her eyes. She liked to sleep in. She enjoyed the feeling of the bed in the morning, nice and warm. She turned around and sighed. Maybe she should get up. She hadn’t been home long after Summer Camp, it wasn’t fair to her parents to stay in bed for a whole day. She stretched and yawned. The smell of fresh coffee and bread reached her nose, and she pulled back the blankets and got out of bed. Good morning, honey. Ruby’s mom Alina stood by the stove, baking some eggs. She smiled at her. Good morning, mum and dad. She smiled back at her mother, and couldn’t supress another big yawn. Her dad, Andrew, chuckled at her. She took a seat next to him at the kitchen table. He was bend over a big map, looking at it excitingly. Ruby looked at it better, and saw it was a map of France. What is this? Andrew shifted his attention from the map to Ruby, and gave her a big smile. We have a surprise for you! We booked a vacation to the South of France for us. Ruby didn’t know what to say. We know you haven’t been home a lot this summer. But we wanted some family quality time before you will leave again for school. Alina placed the pan with eggs on the table. We thought you might like it. She smiled at Andrew and lay a hand on his shoulder. So, what do you think? Ruby’s eyes lit up with excitement. The South of France? She thought about beautiful beaches, charming villages and sunny vineyards. It sounded as a perfect getaway before school. It was a while ago since they had gone on vacation. The last time was a couple of years ago, and not so far away. She had enjoyed it, but she dreamed of seeing the world, and staying in the same country wasn’t really what she had wanted. But now she got a chance. When are we leaving? She grinned. It was hard not to be excited with such news. Andrew looked relieved she likes the news. We are leaving tomorrow. So let’s eat now, and then we have to pack our bags! He picked up the pan and started loading their plates with eggs. Ruby grabbed some toast, and absentmindedly dipped it into the egg. She was already daydreaming about their journey. And it would be the first time she would fly a plane. As she had finished her breakfast, she leaped to her feet and rushed upstairs. Her mother had already took her suitcase out of the attic. She took it to her room and started to pack, looking forward to their journey.

─────Ruby couldn’t believe she was actually headed to France. The morning had passed in a rush. They had to get up early to get to the airport in time. After a quick breakfast and a last baggage check, they get in a cab and headed for Heathrow Airport. As they rode through the streets of Londen, she had felt excited and curious. It would be her first time traveling abroad by plane, and she couldn’t wait to see the Provence with her own eyes. At Heathrow, the airport had been a whirlwind of people and movement. Ruby had watched the enormous planes through the windows, eyes big with delight. Her dad had done the check-in, and her mother checked that everything went according to plan. With their boarding passes in hand and their baggage checked in, they had made their way through security and found a quit place to wait for their flight. It had seemed like eternity, waiting their for their boarding signal. Ruby had taken a book, but she found that she couldn’t concentrate enough to actually read it. But the boarding sign came eventually and they got on the plane. Ruby took the seat by the window, and looked out the window with anticipation while the plane got ready for take-off. The take-off had been a magical moment for Ruby. She felt her stomach twist a little as the plane got in the air. She had looked at the changing sight out of the window, from the big city to fields and forests. As the plain broke through the clouds and the sun shone trough the windows, she could only smile. And there they were, soaring through the sky over the ocean. They had still a while to go. Ruby listened to some music, and watched the moving map on the screen to see how they were flying. Her thoughts wandered off to what was waiting for them in France. She had heard about the fields of lavender, the old villages and the hot sun. she hoped there would be an all wizard village near their vacation home. As much as she loved the muggle inheritance, she also wanted to learn about the magic history. She closed her eyes for a second. Hey honey, wake up. Her eyes flew open as her dad tried to wake her. She saw him smiling at her. We are almost there, we’re about to land. She tried to stretch in her seat as much as she could, and looked out the window. Wow, it looks nice down there. She saw mountains and fields in all sorts of colours. She felt her heart beat a little faster as they started to land. As they got off the plane, they picked up their luggage and got their rental car. It was a warm sunny day in France, and the heat felt as a warm embrace after the colder climate in England. Andrew took his place at the driver’s side, taking his time to adjust to the other side of the car as they drove on the other side in France. But then they were off, to their vacation home in the Provence.
