Boarding the train, Ash was met by the chatting and laughing noises spread all around the Hogwarts Express. To her, it sounded oddly pleasant. Suppressing a smile, she looked at the long corridor in front of her which was filled with students of different years— she even knew some of them, of course, having seen or shared a conversation with them the last year.
She walked through the corridor, looking at her sides to look for an empty compartment— or a compartment with the minimum number of people... if she was lucky enough. But all she could see were the compartments overpopulated with students. And she was not going to join randoms because her talking usually bewildered people— or at least that was what happened back in the muggle world.
Ah, well, she was going to miss her brother...
Ash stopped on her way and looked at the compartment to her left. An empty compartment.
She smiled to herself and slid the door open. It once again reminded her of the last year— her first time going to Hogwarts.
She slid the door close behind her and putting her trunk under the seat, she grabbed a candy out of her backpack. Ash looked at parents hugging and seeing their off kids out of the large window. Well, there was no one to see her off on the platform, but she wished her parents could forget their work for a minute to merely say goodbye.
Anyway, she had her brother who loved her.
I should have spent more time with Alex this month... Thought Ash.
Nibbling on her candy, she continued to stare blankly out of the window, trying to forget about her parents.
You are not you when you are sane.
