‘’Family” Reunion
Somewhere in Dublin, there’s a dark haired young girl deep in thought awaiting her stepmother’s arrival to come help her get dressed for a get together with distant family members she will probably never see again. Sure enough the telltale knock and creak of her door opening signals Selene, her stepmother’s, entry.
In anyone else’s eyes Selene is an average passing beauty with blonde hair but in Lilith’s eyes, the woman is a goddess. Her golden blonde hair is in beautiful waves and her eyes are lightly colored and has that familiar spark of life in them, Lilith will always love her mother, no one could ever replace Valencia Harlow but, Selene has always had her back more than anyone else and for that she’s as good as a mother to her. When the woman spots Lilith, the facial expression goes from indifferent to one of happiness and something that resembles love, the smile stays on her face even as she enters Lilith’s closet singing a song in French, thought Lilith is unable to translate the lyrics into English.
Not a moment wasted as the woman exits the closet holding a formal white dress, when Lilith reaches out the material is soft but the color feels odd, it feels as if it was made especially for her. But with so much time already wasted and Lilith wanting to make Selene proud, she couldn’t dwell on the matter for long, she rushed into her bathroom careful not to slam the door.
The vintage Edwardian style dress has lace ruffles, a lace high-trimmed collar, and a ribbon belt. If she wasn’t so sure that this dress was custom made for her earlier, she is very sure now, the color isn’t scratchy and the material is just like she likes it to be. Lilith grabs her brush and does her best to force her impossibly wavy hair to look neat, Selene does it better but Lilith couldn’t possibly ask her to brush her hair, not when Selene has done so much for her already. The blonde woman didn’t have to take Lilith in as one of her own, she didn’t even have to treat her so well but she did. Lilith’s musing was interrupted by a knock on the door, ”As much as I hate to rush you my dear, we’re expected to be downstairs in a few minutes Lilith.” The metaphorical spell on Lilith was lifted as she gently set down the brush and rushed through folding the gown she had been wearing before she’d changed. The gown was draped on the right side of her sink as she stepped out of the bathroom, her happy mood was dampened slightly when she seen the shoes she would have to wear. The shoes mimic that of Mary Janes but aren’t as comfortable, it’s unfortunate that they are the only shoes that match the dress. She hastily put the shoes on and admires how they look, despite her dislike of them, they are actually very fashionable. With a slightly condescending hair flip, she and Selene were off to face the greatest threat known to wizardkind; her father’s delightful family.
“I don’t hate you, I just lost all my respect for you.”
