Zoey Ross was born on the 1st of September 2012 in a small house in Falmouth. She lived there with her parents and her brother Mateo, who was 6 at the time. Two years later, when their little sister Charlotte was born, they moved to a larger house which was closer to the sea.
All of her life, she has lived in a muggle world, magic only existed in books or movies. This was until the age of 9, although she was oblivious to it (see 'First instance of magic').

Then, on the 1st of August 2024, her and her family's lifes changed. Someone in very weird clothing stood at their door and asked to come in. She wanted to talk about something very important concerning Zoey.
Once the woman, Zoey and her parents sat at the kitchen table, Zoey was handed a letter. After she read it the woman started explaining. She told them about the wizarding world and how magic was real. She also told them that the Hogwarts letter would normally come on the child's birthday, but, as Zoey's was on the day the Hogwarts express would leave, she came a month earlier.
The days after were chaotic. Everyone had to let this information sink in. Zoey was nervous but excited. And she couldn't wait to perform magic.


In the winter of 2021, when she was 9 years old, it was raining in Falmouth (as always). Everyone was sad that there wasn't any snow.
One day Zoey had to walk to the store to buy some groceries for her parents, and again, it was raining. It was almost impossible to avoid the enormous puddles. Eventually, she gave up on staying dry, and walked straight through all the puddles. Suddenly, she didn't hear the splashing of the puddles anymore, she stopped walking and looked down, only to see that where she placed her foot, the water had turned into a small pile of snow. She took another step and saw snow emerging where her foot had touched the puddle.
She thought it was very funny, and didn't think much of it. She figured it was some weird phenomenon that she hadn't learned in school yet.
After a few weeks, she forgot about the event.
