Abbey and Shubhangi had been planing the picnic today by owl yesterday. Abbey was super excited to get to know Shubhangi better and to hang out with her, and a picnic was perfect on a sunny and warm day like today. Abbey was the one that had suggested having the picnic at the Great Lake, and she didn’t regret it at all. Abbey hadn’t had a picnic in a long time and it wasn’t something she usually did, but that’s one of the reasons she was so excited for today.

She walked down to the beautiful water and looked around for a place to sit down and put her things. She was carrying a picnic basket with fruits and drinks. Meaning strawberries, ice tea, water, blueberries, apples and watermelon. The usual picnic fruits and drinks. She was there before Shubhangi, but knew she wasn’t too early and it probably wasn’t too long before Shubhangi would show up. Abbey decided to sit down on a rock and put her things in the grass next to it. She looked up at the sky, but not for too long before her eyes started to hurt because of the bright sun. She looked down at her shoes as she waited for Shubhangi to come. Her feet couldn’t reach the ground from the stone and she was moving her feet back and forth like a little kid.

The Kitchen took surprisingly short time to cook up the pies and sandwiches. I had a cute jute basket along, and made sure the food-boxes were securely seated before heading down to the Great Lake. I was wearing one of my comfortable wide neck white top and a pair of jeans paired with pastel pink sandals. My hair was half up with the help of a bow-pin and I had minimal jewelry on me.

As the Great Lake was in sight, I immediately scanned around, searching for Abbey. The warm weather and clear skies was so welcoming, I actually ended up forgetting about searching for Abbey and enjoying the beautiful breeze and the pleasant environment. Thankfully I snapped out in time when I saw a familiar figure seated on a rock, her feet dangling and a basket kept nearby. Found her!

"Hey Abbey!" I waved brightly, making my way through the pebbles and grass to reach the rock. "I guess I am a little late, haha. The Kitchen did manage to make us some snacks super fast though." I chuckle as I take a seat beside Abbey, on the comfortable warm rock, and dangled my feet alongside hers.

I was looking forward to this. I actually never wandered around the Great Lake as I hardly had the time to, considering all the homework and classes. Then there was the summer camp. Quite a packed year, I would say. As I take a breather, basking in warmth once more and enjoying the beauty, the aroma from our baskets was quite enticing.

"Should we spread the food out first? The aroma is just too good!" I ask Abbey and wait for her response.

Abbey is sitting on the rock dangling her feet as she sees Shubhangi walking towards her. "Hey Abbey!" she says with a wave. Abbey waves back at her with a smile. “Hey Shubha!”

"I guess I am a little late, haha. The Kitchen did manage to make us some snacks super fast though." Abbey watches as Shubhangi takes a seat next to her on the rock before she answers. “Oooo, what did they make?” Abbey glanced exited over at Shubhangi’s picnic basket, but couldn’t see inside it from where she was sitting. “And don’t worry, you’re not that late.” she quickly added before Shubhangi got time to answered her question.

"Should we spread the food out first? The aroma is just too good!" Abbey smiled politely and jumped down from the rock. “Sure!” She grabbed her picnic basket that was on the grass and opened it. “Oh no!” she said quietly to herself as she was looking down at the open picnic basket. She looked worried up at Shubhangi. “Did you bring a picnic blanket with you?” she asked. She had forgotten one herself and was worried it wouldn’t be such a magical picnic that she had been imagining without one.

"Sure" Abbey replied, but almost immediately it was followed by an "Oh no!"

"What's up?" I asked, perplexed as to what had happened.

"Did you bring a picnic blanket with you?" She turned and asked, seemingly having forgotten her own.

"Ah, its below all the food." I jump off the rock and onto the grass and reaching for my basket. I face-palm myself, suddenly realising a problem, "Well, Merlin's beard! The food is up!"

I sigh. "We have to remove the food now and place it somewhere, then spread the sheet and THEN arrange the food on it. Boggles!"

Well that's so me though. I remember running late, according to the set time I had in my head, i.e, two hours earlies than the said time. I quite hurriedly stuffed a random giant blanket I had in my trunk into the basket, leaving enough space for the food to be placed over it.

I start slowly removing the food-boxes out and placing it on the rock we were sitting on. I realized I had bought along the table cloth I had, for god knows what reason, which was taking up a ungodly amount of space in the trunk. And yes, I was stupid enough to not kick it out of the trunk. It was a blue table-cloth with stripes of shades of blue, and its as big as that of a blanket, but seemingly perfect to use for such picnics as its thick enough to not let the sharp objects hurt us even if it is thinly spread.

"Gosh, I have seriously no clue why I ever packed this in my trunk, but it's coming handy now!" I chuckle light-heartedly, trying to unfold the cloth.

“We have to remove the food now and place it somewhere, then spread the sheet and THEN arrange the food on it. Boggles!" Shubhangi said sounding like she was kinda stressed out. Abbey just nodded back as a reply and looked at Shubhangi with a friendly smile hoping it would give a sort of “It’s fine, we got this, calm down” message.

Abbey watched as Shubhangi took her food out from her picnic basket and placed it on the rock the two girls had just been sitting on. Abbey quickly began doing the exact same thing, taking one after one box out of the picnic basket and placing them next to where Shubhangi placed hers. She stacked the boxes filled with fruits onto each other and placed the drinks next to it. It was two towers of boxes with five boxes in each tower. The fruits were cut up and fresh and the drinks were cold.

"Gosh, I have seriously no clue why I ever packed this in my trunk, but it's coming handy now!" Abbey laughed quietly to herself at Shubhangi’s words. “You’re the picnic saviour” Abbey joked, still quietly laughed to herself. After she was done laughing she leaned and grabbed the other end of the picnic blanket so it would be easier for Shubhangi to unfold.

"You are the picnic savior." Abbey joked, then joined along to help spread the blanket.

I acted out a drastic bow in reply to her joke and continued with laying out the stuff.

Once all was done, the spread beautifully arranged, we took a seat comfortably.

"Ah! The relief!" I let out as I plop down. "Finally! We can eat in peace!"

I reach out for a sandwich and start off with a huge bite. "Mmmnnn! Heaven!"
Reaching out to Abbey's side of fruits, I picked up some strawberries to sweeten the richness of the sandwiches I had. The perfect combination.

"Tell me, Abbey," I start, gulping down the mouthful of food, " How is life here treating you? Found something fun to do?" I wait for her reply, upon which I continue.

"Ah, for me," I clear my throat as I speak, " First year went quite uneventfully. I was so confused as to what to do, where to go, who to meet and all those miscellaneous reasons to be confused about. Second year started out much eventfully, to be honest. Summer camp, then joining the Quidditch team, all so thrilling!"
I summarize in simple words about my time at Hogwarts. Then smile as I take a sip of the chilled ice tea Abbey had bought along, leaving me feeling refreshed yet again.
"Making new friends, such as yourself, was as well part of the thrill. Having friends to go on an adventure with is far more fun than solo ventures."

I recall having this solo venture and finding a mysterious letter, which promised a mysterious reward. I am yet to completely unwind that mystery as seemingly the last riddle has stopped me on my tracks for now. I was kind of hoping of some new adventure to hit me out of the blue, just like the last one. It would be super fun to explore that with Abbey.

Abbey laughed at the dramatic bow before she also took a seat on the picnic blanket. She grabbed a slice of watermelon and began eating. “You should try the watermelon. For some reason it’s better than it has ever been before!” She said now reaching for her second watermelon slice.

"Tell me, Abbey," Abbey had just taken a bite when Shubhangi said this. “Mhm…” She swallowed quickly not wanting to have that awkward silence after someone asks a question and you have to eat up before answering, because you don’t want to talk with your mouth full. “How is life here treating you? Found something fun to do?" Shubhangi asked after she also had swallowed her food. “Well… I do draw just like I did back home.” Abbey answered with a smile still thinking about what more she did here at Hogwarts. “Oh yeah, and I read a lot! I did that back home too, but I do it more here even though I feel like I had more time back in Liverpool. You know what I mean? There’s just so much happening here all the time. Both in a good way and in a negative way. There’s a lot of first year drama which I find a bit annoying. The good things are all the new things I get to see and the things I learn in class! And most of the people here of course!” She waited for some type of response before she asked back. “What about you?”

"Ah, for me," Abbey smiled, interested in what her answer would be. “First year went quite uneventfully. I was so confused as to what to do, where to go, who to meet and all those miscellaneous reasons to be confused about. Second year started out much eventfully, to be honest. Summer camp, then joining the Quidditch team, all so thrilling!" Shubhangi answered. “Sounds like second year is something to look forward too!” Abbey smiled happily getting excited about next year. “I haven’t become friends with a lot of people yet, but I was lucky and had a friend her already. I knew my best friend Holly before Hogwarts and her being here has made my first weeks a lot better.” Abbey then explained. Holly had made her feel a lot less alone and unseen here at Hogwarts.

"Making new friends, such as yourself, was as well part of the thrill. Having friends to go on an adventure with is far more fun than solo ventures." Abbey reached for some ice tea and poured it into a paper cup. She then took a sip before answering. “Yeah, agree.”

We paused for a while, sipping on our drinks and peacefully enjoying the breeze. When all of a sudden a disturbing yell came from a bunch of trees nearby. Our attention almost immediately was diverted towards the sound.

The Great Lake is usually stranded around this time of the day, while that being reason enough for us to have a picnic in this beautiful weather, seemed to be as well reason enough for people to do things here as though no one was around them.

Through the quite muffled noises, and frequent yells, some words strangely seemed to stick.

"Would you just hurry?"

"TRYING!"

"Does the guest know the location of this?"

"He has been told....but.." {inaudible}

"Okay, screw that, just deal with this."

"All done, now just shut up."

Almost immediately the noises were gone and only silence remained.
Did they catch on to us being here ? I flipped back, eyes down, and concentrating quite severely at the chicken sandwich in hand.

Seemingly the voices were actually gone. If I am right, they seemed like two grown men. Didn't get much time to distinctly identify them, given that they seemed well hidden in the woods.

"Uh.." I started, then shifted to whispering, "Did that seem sus to you?"

My eyes still fixated at the exact place where I heard their voice come from, and from what I could make out from their argument, they definitely did hide something for someone over there.
I look at Abby, wondering if she would like to go take a look over there.

Speech: “Abbey’s speech” “Shubhangi’s speech”
Abbey took a sip of her ice tea and enjoyed the nice weather and view of the lake. It was beautiful and a few ducks quacking was the only noise that could be heard for a while. They sat there in silence, but enjoyed each other’s company and the food they both had brought with them.

Suddenly two voices could be heard from close to the forest. Abbey noticed it straight away and found it quite interesting. She listened assuming it wasn’t something important, but maybe it was gossip, which could be fun to know. Even though Abbey wasn’t a person to get into drama or be a part of it she knew it could be funny to know it sometimes as she had found most of the dumb drama at her old muggle school funny.

Quickly throughout the conversation the two people had Abbey understood that this might be something a bit more serious then dumb teen drama and secrets. She wondered who the two men or boys were and she had a lot of questions while she listened. Like, Were they teachers? Why were they in a hurry? Who was the guest? She kept the questions to herself for now, not wanting to miss something they said.

When the voices disappeared Abbey waited for a while looking at where the voices came from before she then looked at Shubhangi and took another sip of her ice tea. "Uh…" Abbey smiled knowing what Shubhangi would say. "Did that seem sus to you?" She nodded and her smile slightly faded. "Right? I wonder what they were doing" Abbey looked at the forest again where the people most likely had been standing. After trying to see if there were still someone there she suggested, "Should we go check it out?"

"Should we go check it out?" Abby asked. I nodded.
I got up, brushed off my dress lightly, and looked over at the jungle. I could feel my curiosity get the better of me already.

I started carefully treading the path, heading towards the place where I think they were. The trees in these woods were scarily identical at times. So, it's a near impossible task to pick out one tree from the other. I skipped over the shrubs, navigated my way through the tall trees, which, I don't know for sure, but are these pine? Anyway, I landed at a place, a bit towards the interior of the woods where the silhouette of the men presumable were.

"Okay, now what?" I say, spinning around and checking out the trees around me. Nothing stood out at all.

"They definitely did hide something here though." I ponder. My eyes went down, towards the rocky, muddy, grassy path. It was surprisingly wet at some places. The pattern of wet land would only make sense if someone had water dripping from their clothes. and quite heavily so. There was as well a certain scent that stood out. Amongst the woody scent of the forest and some occasional foul odor, there was a smell of, wet...no, more like a lingering scent of sweat, beer and uhmm...something else that I can't put a finger on as of now.

I look over at Abby, wondering if she found some clues.
