Meeting another family outside of their own kin was rare for the Adams.
Above all, her father also took extra time off, which is amazing for a working animal like him. And it's almost shocking that her mother didn't start an argument with this family. Her brother had to listen to a long speech at home about good behaviour before he could even consider putting one of his experiments into action.

Her parents seemed to really care about this. Which in the end would explain all of Holly's excitement.

She just hoped that her brother wouldn't be able to organize an embarrassment like he did last time... Oh boy, her parents were terrified that the Thompsons would end their friendship with them.
Alfred had already done a lot of nonsense, but this prank from last summer was really the Highlight. In the worst way ever. The creme de la creme of all his pranks. Literally. She had to throw the dress away afterwards because her mum couldn’t get the stains out, which led that woman to rip the fabric apart out of frustration.

But she's convinced it won't be such a drama as last time, as her Mum didn't cook ANY chocolate cream for the meeting. Plus her brother was searched. Twice. From her father, mother and herself as well. So everything should go well. At least she hopes so. Should she still tie him up? Just to be safe?
Nah. That would be cruel.

Arriving early at the meeting point, the Adams waited for the Thompsons.
And Holly was excited to see Abbey again.

Abbey’s parents had this thing where they didn’t want their kids to know to much about the magical world before they were eleven and old enough to attend Hogwarts. The meetings with the Adams family were the only time it was okay for them to ask and learn about magic, and also to be around it. So this is said, it was only a rule so that the kids in the family wouldn’t go around telling the muggles about Hogwarts and our world! The Thompson family lived their every day life pretty much like a bunch of normal muggles so it was important for them to not be the “weird” family that went around talking about nonsense and stuff that the muggles didn’t believe or understand.

Abbey knew that the Adams family were all pure-blooded wizards and witches and she had known that from the day she could remember meeting them. All her other siblings also knew and just because most of them were under eleven didn’t mean they couldn’t join the Summer meet ups with the Adams family. Abbey had known Holly from a really young age, but they didn’t meet each other that often. Only about twice a year or so. Their fathers attempted Hogwarts together and were good friends since childhood.

The Thompson family arrived to the meet up location. It was a beautiful sunny day and having the meet up by a lake was just perfect. The big family walked together over to the Adams all really excited to see them again. Abbey’s six siblings were all there, Julian and Cynthia (Abbey’s older siblings) walked right over to Alfred. To no one’s surprise Abbey walked over to Holly. She had a smile on her face as she spoke. “Hi” she said in excitement looking at Holly.

Her father greeted his friend from Hogwarts as he did back then. Full secret handshake included.

Meanwhile, Holly's mother greeted Abbey's mother with a simple hug but with a sharp side glance over to her son, who was happily occupied with Julian and Cynthia, obviously to tell him "Don't you dare ruin this."

When Abbey greeted her, a hug was due. She had long been looking forward to the meet-up. No Joke. Seriously now. At this point, her smile is wider than that of the Cheshire cat. And yes, her cheeks were starting to hurt as heck, but she just couldn't stop. "Abbey! I haven't seen you in a while! How are you? Are you alright? My goodness, you certainly have a lot to tell me. How are the muggles doing? Are they nice to you? Even the ones at school? And did you manage to remove the stains from last time? That was a mess! I apologize again for the millionth time for my brother's behaviour. ", she took off without taking a breath, broke free from the embrace, finally remembered that she needed air, took a breather, and asked the last and most important question: "What do you want to do?"

Holly seemed excited too! They were finally together again after so long! Abbey smiled at Holly the whole time she was talking and asking questions. She seemed to have many of them. So did Abbey. Both about how she was doing and how Hogwarts was like. Holly had already spent a year there and was now going on her second so she must know a lot about the school, Abbey thought.

“Okey okey! Let’s start from the top, Should we?” Abbey Said still smiling wanting to answer all of Holley’s questions. “I’m doing good, or no…. I’m doing amazing and the muggles at school are all nice too me. Not more then to others, but I’m not getting bullied or anything.” It was all true and Abbey was happy it was and it showed on her face as she spoke. Thinking about her friends at school made her happy and so did the idea of her talking to Holly right now too.

“and the stains are gone! I don’t know how mom made it disappear, but it’s like it was never there.” Abbey chuckles as she gets flashbacks from last meet up. She wasn’t mad and nor was her parents. It was something her family had been laughing about every time it was brought up and they all still laughed thinking about it.

After answering all the questions Holly had asked for now except the last one, abbey looked at her family and at what they were doing. Julian and Cynthia were still standing and talking to Alfred. Abbey’s parents were making food by the grill, Oscar (Abbey’s oldest younger brother) was talking to Olive and Emmet (Abbey’s youngest siblings). George was sitting by a tree fidgeting with his sweaters sleeves and looking bored. Abbey looked at Holly again with a smile now knowing what she wanted to do. “We could go over to Julian, Cyn and Alfred?” she thought Holly might of wanted to say hi to them too.

How on earth a Muggle managed to remove the stains was a mystery. Maybe Muggle magic? Holly didn't understand much about the Muggles, but she thought Muggles couldn't use magic at all.

Anyhow. She thought it was a good idea to go to her brother and her friend's older siblings. Holly wanted to say hello to Cynthia and Julian. While walking to her destination she watched the others, the Thompson family as well as her own family.

Her parents joined Abbey's parents at the grill to help and talk. Abbey's younger siblings talked to each other, just as Abbey's older siblings did with her brother. So far, her brother seemed to do nothing. Nothing stupid at least.

The last time her mother lost her voice from all that screaming at her brother. Her father didn’t dare to face Steven for several days. Holly had even written a 10-page apology letter and sent it to the Thompson Family by owl. Alfred was still able to laugh about it.

Anyway. If she was around, she could at least keep an eye on her brother.
She was glad that Abbey was comfortable among the Muggles. Her family was very connected to the wizarding world and had little idea of the Muggles. Nevertheless, Holly was very interested in muggles. And as far as she knew Abbey, she was interested in Hogwarts, were Holly had already spent a whole year.

Abbey noticed Holly looking at their parents making food by the grill. She looked at them too as they walked, thinking about how delicious the food would turn out. Holly’s mother always made amazing food in Abbeys opinion. Abbey’s dad was a good chef too she had to admit, but not as good as Holly’s mom. They both usually made the food together and their cooking skills combined made them both professional. Abbey’s dad did cooking as a hobby, but abbey wasn’t sure if Holly’s mom even liked cooking. She was still a good chef thought.

When they were close to the tree talking together Abbey waved a little at her brother so they would notice them coming. She turned to Alfred. “Nice to finally see you again Al!” She said with a friendly and excited smile. “Please don’t ruin anything this time” she jokingly added with a quiet laugh.

Julian and Cynthia both laughed. Abbey just knew they agreed with her. “What are you all talking about?” Abbey asked looking at the tree of them standing in front of her. They were all standing in a little circle. Holly to Abbey’s right and Cynthia to her left. Alfred next to Holly again and then Julian next to Cynthia.

"Hello Abbey, what's up?" greets Alfred, "Trust me I wish I could ruin it. But I can't because of that Lovley thing." He pointed to his younger sister, whose smile seemed forced about that topic. Her response was, “Wanna guess why?” It sounded almost like a growl, a warning for him that he shouldn't push it too far.

And he seemed to get it. (Better for him.) He changed the subject to answer Abbey's question.

"We haven't had much time yet to talk, basically welcoming and small talk," he said, “After all, you just arrived.”

At the grill, they heard Charlotte roar, scream, and swear. Only after some huff and puffs she was able to calm down a bit and quietly snarled and ranted some other non-magical curses over the grill. (ALL toddler-friendly-curses and swears of course.)

To any outsider, she seemed angry, mad, and furious. But actually...
"Woah last time I saw her this happy was when you managed to be quiet for ten whole minutes," Holly said. But Alfred disagreed “Hey, my record is 10 minutes and 21 seconds. please be precise. I can do everything for cookies.”, to which Holly giggled, “Except being better than me.”, That tease was one tease too much,“Ha! Oh yeah? Where are you, small brain, better than I am?”, and here we go,“Hide and Seek for example and-”,“I will stop you right there,” Al interrupted, “Who would lose to you in such a Game?”, “The one who won't admit that I'm better than you?”, she pointed out, “Last time, it took you twenty days to find me.”, “No Fair! I forgot we were playing hide and seek!”, “It still counts!”, “No, it doesn’t!”, “Yes, it does!”
Now they were fighting again. Great.

Abbey followed Alfred’s pointing and looked at Holly with a smile. She knew they were about to start arguing or even worse fight. A comment like that was always the beginning of their fights it seemed. To Abbey’s surprise Alfred changed the topic and answered Abbey’s question. His answer gave sense and Abbey felt a bit stupid for a moment. “true” Abbey Said with a smile of agreement and understanding. I mean they had just arrived.

Charlotte’s screaming and swearing scared Abbey a little. It wasn’t something she was prepared for in the moment. She turned to look at Charlotte standing by the grill. It was kinda funny seeing her so mad over something that seemed to be such a little thing. She chuckled quietly to herself watching from where they were standing. She could hear Holly say something to Alfred, but wasn’t too sure what it was about because she was so focused on what was happening over at the grill. Alfred responded and it was then Abbey understood they had started arguing. She knew it would happen soon and wasn’t shocked. She turned her attention back to them and her two older siblings.

Abbey thought about how to end Holly and Alfred’s argument while they were arguing. She stood there in silence listening to what they said to each other. “So… what year are you in at Hogwarts again Al?” Abbey asked. She knew the answer if she wanted to, but now she wanted to end their argument so just saying something random was better then standing there in silence.

This question caused the siblings to lose the golden thread. First, they looked at Abbey totally confused, until they correctly registered the question. “Oh, yeah, I'm in my third year.”

Then he turned to his sister, “Where were we?”, but she just shrugged, “How should I know?” Perfect they forgot what they were arguing about. Saying or asking something at total random on a calm basis always took them completely out of their minds. Most likely because they are not used to such things, since their mother is far too temperamental to stay cool during such arguments, in other words, there is a lot of shouting and screaming at home.

“You all right over there?”, Holly's mother called out in a loud voice, she sounded irritated and angry, but she wasn't. At the most, she is highly suspicious of Alfred, which her eyes confirm as she inspects her son. Al, however, just rolled his eyes and nudged his sister with his elbow. “Yeah, yeah. My god.”, Holly growled and then called out louder to her mother, “Everything's in order.”

as soon as her mother looked away, came Holly’s question, “Why do I always have to answer those questions?”, “Probably because she believes you more than she ever will me?”, was the Answer.

Before another argument began, Al changed the subject, "Abbey, how is it with you and your siblings?"

Abbey nodded to Alfred’s answer. She knew it very well, but had to pretend she had completely forgotten it. It was a hard task and she felt like the lie was shining right through. Hopefully it wasn’t!

When Alfred turned to Holly right after answering Abbey, she sighted thinking she had failed on stopping the argument. She right after lid up with a smile when she realised she hadn’t failed and the arguing was done! It wasn’t a big problem for her that the two of them argued, but she hung out with them so little that for her arguing and fighting was a waste of time. She would rather want too spend those seconds or minutes on talking and playing games.

Holly just stood there watching and listening when Charlotte asked if they were doing all right. Holly was the one to answer her and that was probably the best, because Abbey, Julian and Cynthia had no idea when or when not Charlotte was really angry or just sounded so. If she didn’t sound angry it was obvious to them that she wasn’t angry, but to them she usually did sound a little irritated when she was talking to Holly and Alfred at the meet ups.

Abbey looked at Julian and Cynthia before answering Alfred’s question. Both of them were already looking at her with excited smiles. “Um…” Abbey Paused and thought about what to say before continuing. “We fight sometimes, like most siblings, but It’s mostly the little ones that fight.” Abbey Said not too sure if that was even what Alfred meant by the question. She still smiled and while she mentioned her little siblings she looked at them. They were now standing by the gill where the parents were chatting and cooking. “I’m the one our parents trust and believes the most.” Julian said proudly in a teasing tone. “Dad usually asks Julian when he wants the truth and mom usually asks me. So it’s the oldest one’s that are in charge” Cynthia said explaining.
