Well, she did since she could remember each of the events that led up to her predicament. The newly 12-year-old girl had left home that morning with her parents to visit the Muggle side of London. It was River's first time seeing the mundane side of the city and she had been excited to see how different it was to the magical sights she was familiar with. It would also be her first adventure with her new best friend, Nótt, a Bewitched Midnight Stalker that her parents have gotten her for her birthday not too long ago.
The dark furred feline was still perched on her shoulder like a furry parrot on a pirate's shoulder from those muggle stories River had read when she was younger. River and Nótt had followed her parents as they went from store to store and observed the quality of the products. The Luxleys were a family known for their smart investments in both the magical and mundane sides of the economy. River knew her parents regularly went in for random checks at stores where they were major shareholders, this would just be the first time that River would be allowed to accompany them.
Unfortunately, while River had been admiring a gorgeous silver ring that been inlaid with a small but elegant amethyst that was in one of the Jewelry stores they visited that day, she and her parents had been separated. They seemed to have accidentally left the building without her as she had been in a rather secluded section of the store.
River turned to her feline friend and muttered under her breath, "What do we do now, Nótt? Mother and Father are gone, and I've never been to this side of London."
Nótt gazed up at River, she assumed the cat had sensed the growing anxiety stirring within her. The feline gave her owner an affectionate lick and nuzzle against her pale cheek, River hoped it meant to show her that Nótt would still be there for her and that everything would be okay.
Anxious grey-blue eyes met glowing green orbs and River felt at least some of her nervous shaking subside. She took a deep breath and made her way out of the store, hoping that her parents were simply waiting for her outside. No such luck, unfortunately. The streets were bustling with unfamiliar faces and people who towered over River's small 4'9 stature. She felt more and more out of place as the strangers pushed her back and forth as she stood frozen on the middle of the sidewalk.
Nótt had moved down to be cradled in River's arms as she held the feline in her protective embrace.
Please, River thought desperately, Anyone, please help me!

It is always a bit of reverse culture shock to be back in the muggle world in the weeks following summer camp before the start of the school year. Now that Della was fourteen (going on fifteen) her mother allowed her more freedom to explore the neighborhoods around her home. Her cousin was once again out with friends—muggle friends who Della had let fall so far out of her orbit, that she felt like an extra, particularly squeaky wheel when they all tried to hang out. So instead, she was spending today wandering the shops, finding window displays to sketch and occasionally whispering her thoughts about passersby to her bag, where her snake Greta was comfortably coiled up. Her thoughts were particularly preoccupied with the large revelations she experienced under this summer camp's mistletoe.
Most of the streets were full of bustling shoppers, enjoying the summer weather, headed to ice cream parlors and whatnot. However, up ahead Della spotted a lone figure not moving in the stream of people. She was small, younger than Della, and she was holding a cat. There was something off about her, or was it that she seemed familiar to Della? First came a simple thought, Did they go to school together? She almost let the thought go, but its strangeness finally pulled her from her own stream of angst.
Della doubted that she'd ever see someone she went to Hogwarts with here. In her Muggle neighborhood. Curiosity about the girl and the cat was going to be too much, so she marched directly toward them. After getting closer, Della realized the girl looked frightened and probably too young to be herself. "Are you alright?"
