flying with her mother back home

As she saw her mother, Brookline took her trunk and kitten, and slowly walked to her. She had already said her goodbyes to Sere, a girl she had met on the train, whom had no idea what to put in her diary til Brookline came along. Before walking to Sere’s compartment, Brooke had switched her clothes for jeans and a tie dye shirt.
“Come along, Brooke! We’ve got company!” A female Welsh accent burst her train of thought. “Company? It’s my cousins, is it?” Brookline retorted, her eyes rolling at her mum, knowing exactly who ‘company’ was.
“ ‘Fraid so,” Amy smiled at her daughter. “This Tigeress?” “Yes, but she’s like a stupid bat out of hell,” Brookline heaved her kitten up. Her mother’s light brown brows furrowed but she held her hand in respect, telling the Ravenclaw to keep going. “Would you hold my trunk? And how are we going to get home?” Brookline asked, her blue eyes sparkled in amusement.
Amy hesitated a second before she held out her hand that had light pink polished nails and took the trunk. Amy had a few friends whom were muggleborn witches and they would on occasion, like every few months, to have some fun, to hang around and either get their nails done or have a beer night. You see, Brookline’s mother got drinks every once in a while but her father would usually drink every night.
The weight disappeared and Brookline held on her kitten with two hands now that Amy took the trunk. She sighed in relief. “Now, home you ask? Of course, but how have you’ve been?” “Great, actually! I have a lot of friends and homework was a bit hard in the beginning, but next year will be a breeze! Well, I hope.”
“That’s absolutely brilliant! Now let’s go home, on your broom!” Setting the trunk down, Amy held out the Nimbus 1700 and her broom., and also a pet carrier. As the former Ravenclaw handed Brookline’s broom and the carrier to her, she herself sat on her Moontrimmer, the broom floating. Yes! My broom! Brookline exclaimed in her head and gleefully took the broom and carrier. “Well, come on, pop on.” Amy nodded at her daughter, bending down on her broom, gripping the heavy trunk’s handle, and sighing with fatigue as she held it in her hand. Brookline could tell her mother was tired, the way her accent was more serious than when it usually sounded more playful, the way her hair was more frizzy then when she last saw her mum, the way her green eyes sparkled way less.
Brookline had nodded to her mother, and set Tigeress, the broom and carrier down. She placed the brown tabby inside the carrier and locked it. Jumping on her broom with Tigeress inside the pet carrier, Brookline looked around before taking off.
Brookline took off first, Tigeress meowing loudly the thing the tabby thought was to be a prison. Laughing softly, Brookline spoke softly, “Its’ ok, Tigeress. All good.” Her mother followed, her hands white from straining, clutching the trunk tightly.
A while later, Brookline could see her house in Ferndale, Wales, the little curtains light pink contrasted well with the light blue tinted windows. The clouds above Wales’ usual overcast tickled her nose, as the muggles would see her and her mother if they flew any lower.

flying with her mother back home
☾“throw me to the wolves and i’ll return leading the pack,”☽
Whispering in Brookline’s ear, Amy swooped down, landing gracefully in front of their house. Brookline followed, less gracefully, and her hair flew on front of her face, like a curtain. If she was gonna be a broom racer, she must practice landing! She still wasn’t over the way she fell off in one of the first flying class. Insane, right?
Mother and daughter, climbed the stairs, their belongings in hand, and Brookline touched one of the handles of the double door. Gosh, how long has it been since she’d been here. Even though it had been Christmas, she had last visited it still felt like years to the young Ravenclaw. She turned the handle, taking a step into her dear house, expecting little kids to swarm her with cuddles and loud voices. There was not warm embraces and voices that faintly smelled of honey. No sight of her cousins either.
“Kids? We’re home!” Amy called, setting the heavy trunk down with a heaved sigh. Brookline’s twitched and a huge grin fell on her face as she un-clipped the lock on the pet carrier. Tigress mewed loudly and pounced out of the carrier, her fur rippling with excitement. She disappeared, getting familiar with the new place.
Feet pounded the stairs, as Brookline put hers and her mother’s broom aside in the broom closet. “Line! You’re home!” A joyous scream sharply pierced her ears. It was Little Chase. Chase flung himself onto his older sister and pulled her into a hug. More happy and peppy exclaims met Brookline ’s ears as little bodies clung to hers. “Hiya Brooke! Marie and I get to go to Hogwarts, next year .. If we’re accepted!” Minnie hugged Brookline.
“Yes! Oh my dear sister, Brooke! You should tell us about Hogwarts!” Almost the same voice rang in Brookline ’s ears. The voice belonged to the other twin, Marie. Cash had been the last of hustle to arrive from downstairs, his little feet running as fast as they could. “Brookie!” The little boy hugged the Ravenclaw’s knee, and she scooped him up in her tan arms, cooing about how much she missed the two-year-old.
Her cousins walked quickly down the stairs with her older sister, Lizy. “Lizy, Rosalie, and Lilly, Hello!” Brookline waved and rushed over to the three girls, seizing them into a hug, Cash still in her arms. Rosealie was nine and Lily was ten. Their sister, Gwen was coming later, Brookline guessed. The seventeen-year-old went to Beauxbatons. The French-Welsh girls were three-quarters wizard blood, as their mother, Nadine, was a French half-blood whom went to Beauxbatons, while their father, Flynn, Brookline ’s father’s brother who was a full Welsh pureblood.
“Hi Brooke! How was Hogwarts?” Lily grinned, while Rosealie said, “Hiya! Glad you’re here!” Brookline grinned back to the two girls and exclaimed, “It was great, Lily! Bunches of new friends!” She hugged Lily again and added to Rosealie, “Me too! You must have been here a while. ” The French-Welsh girl nodded, a smile glowing on her pretty nine-year-old face.
“Don’t you dare forget about me, your sister, who’s a prank queen, ” Lizy smirked and squeezed Brookline into a tight hug, making Cash squeal. “Hey! Remember our little brother is here!” Brookline laughed, and let the toddlor crawl out of her arms before she hugged her sister again. Breathing in Lizy’s lovey daisy and lilac purfume-like scent, Brookline knew the young women was in the garden, before the Welsh Ravenclaw was home.
After Brookline settled and her trunk was in her room, she set out to find her little kitten. Tigeress was still checking out her home, when she found her father, speaking rapidly with her uncle. “Hi Uncle Flynn, and dad.” She gave her uncle a huge hug, and her uncle hugged back, whispering, “Hello, little Brook.” Brookline was gonna give her father a hug but he didn’t show like he wanted one. Stomping off, Brookline decided to find out if Gwen was home yet.
How dare you. I haven't seen you in, like, five months. Next year better not be like this. Casting one more dangerous look at her father, she skipped into the entrance parlor, and into the kitchen. She wanted to see hi to her house elfs.
A pot clattered on the floor, as Brookline entered the room. “Oh! Lady Brooke! Wimy has been missing you, ya know?” Winmy exclaimed, jumping over to her. Her squeaky voice brought back memories upon memories. Winmy flung her small body on Brookline’s neck and hugged her at if she hadn’t seen her in decades. Winmy was a young brown elf with no hair, but even though she could of left when she was given a pair of soft lovely socks, and a pink apron that said, ‘I’m a elf, but I’m a great cook and nanny!’ But the elf loved the kids, so she stayed as their personal nanny and chef. And sometimes the Quinns’ other elf, Coobey was like a father to Brookline. He was a old pale ugly elf with shoes and socks. But to Brookline, he wasn’t ugly, he was honest, and cretive. He didn’t accept the sweater the Quinns were gonna give him. Livy and Brookline- a year or two before Brookline went to Hogwarts-knew of a pureblood family who treated their elf horribly, and they wanted to take Coobey so he wouldn't be dead. But the elf wanted pay gracefully for them, so he stayed as house elf for them as long as he got paid treated like a real human. Both elfs got paid. Both.
“Oh I have been missing you too! Oh, has my siblings been good to you?” Brookline set the short elf on the ground, and kept grinning. “Oh yes. Winmy hasn’t seen such good children in a while!” She hugged Brookline one last time around the knee. Brookline smiled and made her way to Coobey, who wss doing the dishes. Both elfs didn’t mind what did as long as the Quinn's didn’t beat or treat them terribly like their last owners were. “Hello, hello! How’s Coobey been doin’?” Brookline asked, placing a hand on Coobey’s leather-like shoulder. She smiled and waited for the house elf to answer. “Oh, Coobey been awesome! Your family is great. And Coobey’s does love being cook!” His raspy squeaky voice told Brookline that he was getting older in his years. She got on both knees, about the elf’s height, and hugged him. She didn’t care if she got wet. The elf hugged back, smiling.
Speaking with the elfs for a little while longer, Brookline skipped out of the kitchen, to find Tigeress. Surely, the kitten would be around here somewhere.
