A Ride to Magic

Ayumi composes herself for a moment before she climbs up the Hogwarts Express, her trunk in hand. Her parents are staring at her from below, on the Platform. She knows that it is the last few minutes she will have with them before the train moves and her school term starts officially.
She will not be able to see them for around three to four months after this, so she must make these minutes count, perhaps make it so that they praise her one last time before she goes on her journey alone.
Her eyebrows knit together when her mother call out to her, still using the professional voice Ayumi sometimes wish silently she will have one day, too, "Yumi! Take care of yourself, okay? Don't get into any trouble. We're going now. Your father has some Ministry matters to attend to and I should probably go with him too. See you!"
Ayumi bites back a request, perhaps even a plead, for them to stay just a little longer. Her parents will not like that show of weakness. Instead, she looks over her shoulder to wave at them once more before turning back and making her way into the aisles on the Express.
She does not really want to sit with anyone, just in case she accidentally expresses how much she misses being with her parents, but when she sees a red-haired girl sitting alone in one of the nearby compartments, she feels strangely... Attracted to the girl.
Ayumi shrugs subtly. She might feel lonely if she sits alone anyway, might as well ask the girl if they can sit together. So Ayumi tightens her hold on her trunk, takes a deep breath, and pushes open the door of the mini-room.
Alright. I can do it. Friendly and polite.
"Um, hi! A-are you sitting here? I mean, is anyone sitting here?," Ayumi chuckles awkwardly. She did not expect to mess up such a simple sentence. Her face heats up a little from embarrassment, and she scolds herself internally.
For the first time, she is somewhat glad that her parents are not here to witness her mistakes.

Tori said goodbye to her family and started walking to the train. She was about to start his second year at Hogwarts. She didn't know what would happen in her second year, so she was excited. Since she had knowledge from the previous year, she quickly passed the crowd and boarded the train.
It was easy for to find a empty compartment. She quickly put her trunk upstairs and placed her pet mouse Vick's cage next to it, and on top of it she placed the bag she always had with her. She took Vick out of his cage and put his on her shoulder.
Meanwhile, when she heard a girl's voice, she looked at the girl. She looked incredibly beautiful and intriguing. She had short blonde hair and blue-gray eyes. Seeing that she was a little younger than Tori, she thought she might have just started school. She realized that he didn't answer for a long time.
"No. No, no one is sitting. You can sit. I mean, you can sit if you want. If you don't, I understand."
She realized he couldn't speak, but she managed to speak in a friendly manner. She was confused as to how this happened.
"My name is Jones. Well... Lena. No! Victoria. My name is Victoria Lena Jones. What is your name? Isn't it your first year? So you seem very small."
She spoke in a surprised tone. Meanwhile, a sound came from her mouse Vick. This was not a normal sound. She thought this was a bit strange. Normally he loved his mouse friends.

Ayumi smiles slightly, her eyes brightening at the mouse... Or is that a rat? The rat or the mouse perches on the girl's shoulder as the girl turns towards Ayumi.
Ah, she always wanted a pet, although she prefers cats and birds from the list of pets allowed in Hogwarts. Unfortunately, her parents insisted that she did not need pets, and told her that they will 'consider' giving it to her if she behaves well enough.
Reasonable, Ayumi shrugs internally, it's not as if I can't survive without an animal companion, anyway.
However, the red-haired girl just stares at Ayumi without saying a word. Feeling a bit awkward, Ayumi considers apologizing and leaving to find another compartment.
Fortunately, the pretty girl seems to realize that she is spacing out (or at least Ayumi thinks she is spacing out), and quickly says, "No. No, no one is sitting. You can sit. I mean, you can sit if you want. If you don't, I understand."
The girl seems just as nervous as Ayumi is or at least was, which makes the blue-green-eyed girl feel a little more reassurance. Her companion seems a little older than her, but Ayumi cannot decide if the girl is just a more mature first year or a second year. Before she can ask, though, her companion speaks up again.
"My name is Jones. Well... Lena. No! Victoria. My name is Victoria Lena Jones. What is your name? Isn't it your first year? So you seem very small." Her companion, or Victoria, introduces herself. Ayumi huffs a little at the last sentence, but she has no one to blame except for her parents' genetics.
Yes, she is far from the tallest in her age group, but Ayumi would like to think that she is at least average.
Never mind, it's fine, Ayumi composes herself. She sits down beside the girl after carefully placing her trunk somewhere safe and secure.
"Oh hi Victoria! I'm Ayumi Faeri, but you can call me Ayumi," Ayumi gestures to Victoria's pet as she asks, "Is that your pet? What's the name? Also, this isn't your first year? Are you a second year?"
Ayumi watches on with interest as she waits for the other girl to answer, hoping that she did not ask too many questions.

@Ayumi FaeriAfter speaking, Victoria looked down when she heard the girl grunt. Normally she didn't care that much about what others said. But for some reason, she realized that this girl cared about what she thought. She watched as the girl put her suitcase away and felt her heart speed up when she sat next to her.
"Nice to meet you too Ayumi. Yes this is my rat. His name is Vick. He is a bit gluttonous but very smart. Do you like a rat, Ayumi? By the way, its name means Cycle/Growth. Did you know? And yes, it's my second year. Which building do you think you'll be in?"
She talked a little too fast and too much. If something came to her mind or came to her mind, she would say it directly. She took some cheese out of her bag and handed it to Vick. She turned to Ayumi.
"Do you have a pet? Or which animal would you like?"
She asked curiously. It felt quite different to start a conversation like this with a beautiful girl. She felt a little embarrassed. She felt like his hair was getting a little darker because of this. That's why she couldn't hide her emotions sometimes.

Ayumi breathes a silent sigh of relief when she hears Victoria answer her questions without complaining about not being able to keep up. The red-haired girl replies, "Nice to meet you too Ayumi. Yes this is my rat. His name is Vick. He is a bit gluttonous but very smart. Do you like a rat, Ayumi? By the way, its name means Cycle/Growth. Did you know? And yes, it's my second year. Which building do you think you'll be in?"
Ayumi's eyes turn to the rat - Vick, as Victoria called him - once again. She does not exactly like rats, but it is also not her least favorite animal. She quite like the name choice, not only because the meaning of the name is something clearly positive, but also because Victoria took the effort to at least research the name somewhat.
She must really like the rat.
Ayumi feels a strange emotion of disappointment when the girl told her that it is her second year. The blond-haired girl does not expect that she would be sad because she will not be able to share a classroom with Victoria. Ayumi holds the gaze of the older girl for a moment before averting her eyes, a wave of heat rushing up her face.
It must be because she is a little embarrassed, Ayumi tells herself, and that is because Victoria is the first senior she has ever met, and also because she looks very pretty. Totally not because of anything else.
These thoughts sound fake even in Ayumi's own ears, but that is the best explanation the girl can come up with. Ayumi chuckles awkwardly, hoping that Victoria did not see her strange reaction. She thinks about what to say as the other girl fishes out some cheese from a nearby bag before feeding it to the little rat. Vick begins eating soon after receiving the delicious-looking treat.
Ayumi turns her attention back to Victoria as the older girl starts again, "Do you have a pet? Or which animal would you like?"
That is an easy question to answer. Ayumi replies with a sad smile, "I don't have a pet yet, unfortunately. My parents might buy one for me in the future, but I don't think I will get one any time soon."
She sighs a little as she continues, picturing the perfect pet in her head, "As for my preferred pet... I would love to have a cat or maybe an owl, since that's the only kind of birds we can have here! Silver Siberians are my favorite cat, and the Great White Owl for, well, the owls."
Ayumi waits for a response patiently as she watches the scenery outside their window go by, trying not to look at the way too beautiful girl in case she breaks her already-not-perfect cordial mask.

"Are you okay? I guess you don't want to sit with the second years. Don't worry, I'm not too old. But you can call me sister if you want."
She tried to giggle a little to show that he was joking, but he wasn't very successful. She felt his hair turn a little redder because of this.
"Owls are sweet creatures and it's nice that they carry letters. They work like a telephone, but it takes longer. I think you're a cat girl. You look like you'd take good care of a cat if you had one. *Pauses for a moment* But that doesn't mean you can't take care of an owl. I still don't know what she's like, though."
As Tori faltered, she saw Ayumi looking outside. This relieved her a little. She felt Vick's nose on her shoulder touching his chin when he felt a light touch on her chin. She smiled, took it in her hand and started petting it
After a while, when the train starts to move, her excitement increases a little more.
"You are thinking about which house you will be in."
If anyone else had seen her behavior, they might have thought she was going to Hogwarts for the first time.
