Emily was by the living room window, hunched over like a vulture as she stalked the street from inside, staring intently with beady eyes. She knew it like the back of her hand; she knew what a car along the tarmac sounded like when it got close and when it went by, she could discern it from the main road outside the neighbourhood, and if she was close enough and listened reeeeeeally carefully, she could make out the sound of someone stepping on the stones near the iron gate that gave way to Malone Park where one would find her home nestled away with the others.

She hadn't had a sleepover before. She'd been to one but she was never the girly type. Makeup and fashion shows and being pretty-fied for six hours before going to bed wasn't exactly her idea of fun in comparison to her muggle "friends" - were they really friends if she was only invited for the sake of the host trying to be popular? In any case, thank God she brought plenty of books to keep her sane.

Emily's sleepover would be different. For one, she would have it as natural as possible without a planned out itinerary. She could argue her heritage with others all day but at the end of it, it was a simple household. And for another, she actually had friends to do it with this time.

When she first inquired River of a sleepover she was expecting the Slytherin acquaintance to brush her off. They weren't incredibly close but close enough to smile at each other and strike up a conversation with. Had it not been for their first encounter in the library Emily would've had no luck at all. And then there was Alliasta, probably one of the most kindest people in her year. They knew each other through idle chat but that's where it really ended. That didn't stop Emily from wanting to get to know her so what was the harm in inviting her along too? Besides, this exchange would probably benefit them a lot considering Emily was one of the few muggle-born students she knew. A little house tour of her humble muggle roots wouldn't hurt them, right?

"Auntie" came into the room, amused by Emily's stance. "Come sit down, Emily... Standing there menacingly won't make them arrive faster."

Emily cocked an eyebrow. "There's nothing "menacing" about being anxious for friends to arrive for my very first sleepover here!"

"Auntie" wasn't going to argue with that. Emily had been bubbling about the idea since she sent the owls out to invite the girls. Even though she had just come home from Hogwarts, she was already itching to catch up with her new friends. "Have you at least tidied your stuff up from upstairs?"

"Yes Auntie... I've folded my clothes, put them away, left out the spare duvets, brought a few extra pillows and the fluffy blankets for the "Maximum Snuggle Experience." Emily had a lopsided smile to stop herself from giggling at that last part.

"Auntie" nodded approvingly. "Good, good... And what about your bookshelves?"

Ah...

"Uh-"

The doorbell rang. Saved by the arrival of one thing...

"They're here!"

Alliasta was very excited. A Sleepover party! This must have been really exciting, right? Alliasta was surprised at how she even got invited to this. Especially in a muggle neighbourhood! Her family was a little worried. But because of their daughter's excitement and happiness, they had to send their daughter away.

Alliasta got into a normal muggle car. This was very exciting. Her mouth was hanging open as she actually looked around. So these cars are just like Knight bus, but slower and without places to sleep. But it's still exciting. She was a pure-blood wizard but had relatives who married muggles. I mean, she had heard of some things but had never seen them, so she was excited about even something like seeing them. Alliasta smiled. It was truly like a dream. She had a Sleepover party with her cousins, but this was different. This was her first sleepover with a friend. So with two friends.

She was really happy about this as she looked around at the Muggle houses. The surroundings were very modest. This place was truly calm and relaxing for Alliasta. She brought some snacks for dinner. Things like chocolate frogs, beans of all flavors. And a pajama set! When she finally arrived, she got off the bus. The house was really beautiful. Alliasta left immediately. There was a button next to the door. This must have been the doorbell. She pressed there and waited for the door to open.

River paced back and forth in front of her wardrobe. Back and forth. Back and forth. She had no idea what to wear! What does one wear to a sleepover in the first place? Finally deciding on one of her favourite dresses. River observed herself in her floor-length mirror before nodding to herself and heading over to her bed wear a suitcase was sat. The young heiress wasn't sure why Emily Shephard, a Hufflepuff in her year who she had met in the Hogwarts library, had invited her over for a sleepover at her place, but it excited River nonetheless. She had packed in a few changes of clothes as well as her favourite silk pajamas that had a black scale-like patten over the silky material. There was also all of her toiletries and hygiene stuff packed in as well.

Turning away for a second to check that she wasn't missing anything, she turned back to see a little black lump attempting to hide between her clothes. "Ægir! Get out of there," she laughed as she tried to grab hold of the squirming niffler, "You can't go with me, you know that! Emily lives in a muggle area. I can't just take you with me!" The small creature huffed as he sat in her cupped palms and crossed his arms, pouting. He obviously wasn't happy that River would be leaving without him, especially so soon after she had just returned from that school she disappeared to for almost a year! She didn't even come back for the cold months! Ægir was very upset that he wasn't able to cuddle with his favourite human in winter like they usually did.

"I'll help you steal one of mother's rings when I get back, okay?" She tried to placate her creature friend who finally stood up in her hands to give her thumb a hug. River smiled and gave the young niffler a quick kiss on his furry little forehead before placing him down gently on her soft bed sheets.

Deciding that she had packed everything she needed, she zipped up her suitcase. Suddenly, she heard a knock on her door. She turned around to see her father leaning against the open doorway. "Klar til bruk? Ready to go?" He asked with a smile on his face, he knew how excited yet nervous his daughter was about her first ever sleepover, she had been talking about it nonstop ever since she came home. "Ja, Far. Yes, Father." She nodded over at her packed suitcase. He took her bag, and they walked over to the floo room where her mother was waiting to send them off. After a few quick goodbyes and a kiss on her cheek from her mother, River and her father made their way through the floo to the Leaky Cauldron where they would then take a 'taxi' to a street nearby the address Emily had given her. River was glad that she had gotten used to floo travel and over the years as she could remember how awful she would feel after the first few times.

They walked down the street until just before the address listed on the small note Emily had given her. Damien Luxley looked down at his precious little girl and smiled that she was already so grown up, going to sleepovers, Hogwarts, etc. Soon she'd be a fine young woman and he wasn't sure he was ready for that. Sentimentalities aside, he gave his daughter a strong hug before leaving to head back home.

River took a quick breath after her father left before striding over the the building that, according to Emily's note, was her destination. Grabbing onto her non-existent Gryffindor courage, River hesitantly knocked on the door, hoping this wasn't some elaborate prank.

Emily made a bee-line for the door as soon as the doorbell sounded out in the main corridor, like a dog zooming to the call of the postman. She could already make out the appearances of Alliasta and River outside through the window by the door as she came by to greet them. The door flung open where both girls would be met with Emily's unwavering enthusiasm, grinning excitedly at the pair of them.

"You guys made it!" She couldn't help but throw her arms around the two girls, pulling them together into a tight group hug before eagerly inviting them inside. "Auntie" met them as they came back inside the house, exchanging a few brief introductions with their guardians before wishing them well as they left, assuring them that all would be well. She turned to the girls, being no less welcoming to them than Emily was.

"Alliasta... River... You're far from home but you're in capable hands. Emily and I will make sure you're comfortable throughout your entire stay. Anything you need, you need only ask." Emily nodded agreeably at the pair as her guardian talked. "Auntie" then kindly took all the bags off their hands and began carrying them upstairs.

"I'll take these upstairs for you. It'll give me a chance to clean up any books Em might have left littered about her bedroom floor...!" She gave a cheesy wink as she disappeared upstairs with the girls' bags. Emily's cheeks flared as she laughed derisively to alleviate her embarrassment.

"Ha! Thank you Auntie...! So nice of you...!"

She glanced at the floor, buying her a few seconds to compose herself before feeling reinvigorated with excitement. She had friends. At her house! She addressed the girls with full energy.

"Well, make yourselves at home! Take a look around and get comfortable!"

Alliasta looked around the muggle house... Are they always this calm? So there is nothing related to witchcraft around. But that's what fascinated Alliasta. A calm she had never seen before. And the silence she could never find because of her large family. Alliasta smiled sweetly. Emily's aunt seemed like a very cute woman.

"Wow this place is amazing I'm so glad I'm here. Well you have to tell me what we're going to do when because I've never been to a Sleepover with other people!"

Alliasta was very excited. She didn't even know what to do, but she knew she was going to have fun. She and her two girl friends are going to have a great time tonight. Lots of snacks and maybe lots of muggle games! That would be so awesome. Being a pureblood, she was generally more accustomed to wizarding things. But who doesn't love trying new things? Alliasta loves trying new things, seeing new things also making new friends.

"So Emily, When should I change into pajamas? I brought a few snacks in my bag! Also, I have to say, this house is so wonderfully calm and beautiful! Oh and your Aunt knows we're wizards, right?"

Alliasta looked at the girl curiously, hoping that she would understand and answer the questions she quickly asked.

River stiffened slightly at Emily's brief hug, unused to the foreign contact as she had only been hugged by her parents before. Sure, she had had friendly interactions with others at Hogwarts, Emily included, but it had mostly been to the extent of being friendly acquaintances, not really at the hug-when-we-see-each-other point in their friendships. River did enjoy it though; Emily gave warm hugs that reflected her sunny disposition and cheerful personality.

River could tell that Emily's personality was somewhat influenced by her so-called "Auntie", who gave the invited guests a warm welcome and kindly took their things upstairs to Emily's room.

While the other guest spoke, River observed the semi-stranger. She knew Alliasta from classes of course, they had shared an entire year at Hogwarts together, but they hadn't interacted with each other before then. River hadn't even known that she and Emily were friends. It wasn't a problem though, River felt excited to meet a new friend, especially since Emily seemed like someone who had a good judge of character from the few interactions River had had with the Hufflepuff girl.

At the mention of pajamas, River also spoke up, "Oh! I brought a few nightgowns to change into as I wasn't really sure which one to bring," the tips of her ears turned red as she thought of the Victorian-esque nightgowns that she preferred to sleep in, "I also brought a bunch of art supplies as well if you two would like to indulge in a bit of artsy fun? If you didn't have anything else planned that is," River gave the two girls a sheepish smile as she thought of the large, expanded trunk she had filled with every type of art medium she could think of that she owned: pencils, acrylic paints, chalks, charcoal, pastels, watercolour, oil paints, etc. as well as a variety of cavasses, sketchbooks and small clay figurines of various magical creatures that they could paint. She would dry and bake them after she returned home and either send the finished products via owl or hand them over if she saw them on the train back to Hogwarts on September 1st.

River turned to face Alliasta with a polite smile crossing her lips as she held out her hand, "I'm River Luxley by the way. I felt it best to get introductions out of the way since we'll be spending sometime together. How do you know Emily?" She was curious as, as far as she remembers, and she remembers a lot, she has never seen the two of them together before as mentioned earlier. Perhaps they have and River just wasn't around to see it, which was a high possibility, Hogwarts is massive after all.

Emily could see that both girls were well prepared - and dare she say eager - for the next day and a half together. She nodded to both of them, ensuring they feel at ease at all times.

"You're welcome to get changed whenever you like! Bathroom is just upstairs opposite the large window and Auntie will have placed your bags in my room, which is on the very tippy top floor. It's still quite early but if it would make you feel more comfortable, then do work away!"

Emily had a few ideas in mind at that moment on what to do; A little house tour, a few facts, a long and possibly excessive tangent about her favourite books along her bookshelves upstairs in her room. Either that or the explanation she would need to give for all the rubber duckies that were lined up along the side of the bathtub should they do indeed enter the bathroom (the simple reason being that they were cute!).

"Oh right!" She suddenly remembered. "Do you two know each other? I know I've been in classes with both of you, but perhaps maybe you two haven't had the pleasure of meeting? Maybe in passing through the corridors perhaps."

Emily knew this would be a point of discussion eventually. She knew them, but did they know each other? Well, in any case, Emily hoped this little getaway for them would bring the three of them closer.

"No matter what, I'm sure we'll have a good time! Speaking of..." Emily turned to River. "I'm curious to take a little sneak peek at your art supplies, River!"

Alliasta knew Emily had prepared something wonderful for them. So she could guess. So cool muggle stuff! Alliasta had always been interested in Muggle things and games. So the wizards' belongings had become familiar to her. Wizard games and stuff like that, which she always had at sleepovers with her cousins.
The journey had been uneventful for Alliasta, so she wasn't tired. But the girl was generally never tired and was always energetic. Even if she didn't go to bed early, she was a girl who was used to waking up early. But who was talking about sleeping? Alliasta wanted to have fun instead of sleeping tonight. After all, that's what a pajama party is all about, right? Yes, she would definitely have fun.

When Emily asked, Alliasta looked at the girl next to her and yes, she had seen her. A girl from Ravenclaw, maybe they took the same classes, but they never talked. But of course this is not an obstacle.

"I guess we haven't talked yet, I'm Alliasta Holista! I hope we can bond today and become great friends!"

Alliasta held out her hand and smiled gently at the girl. She wanted this start to be good for both of them.
