A Final Dance Solo Finished

Rosie’s first year at Hogwarts was coming to a close. So close to the end in fact, she had already started packing for home. But something was missing, it wasn’t over yet. The tiny girl sat on her bed in the Hufflepuff dorm rooms, staring at her sneakers. There was something missing, but what? She had packed absolutely everything she brought, she must’ve checked over five times! She tapped her feet against the floor, her face forming into a childish pout. It was gonna give her a headache. She kept tapping, and thinking, and tapping, and--

That was it! Tapping! Dancing! She needed to dance! Rosie stared down at her sneakers. No, no they just wouldn’t do. She threw open her luggage, going into a certain pocket, and taking out her ballad slippers. They were light pink, and a bit beaten up, it WAS for dancing all year after all. It’s not like Hogwarts had a supply of ballad slippers at hand, or did they? It didn’t matter! Time was at the essence! Could she talk to Anatole about dancing with her-- No! No time! She kicked off her beaten off sneakers and rolled her feet around a bit, cracking the bones in her ankles. “Oof.” She winced. Rosie slipped on her slippers and stood up, looking down at her outfit. It was a light pink dress. It was too short to dance in. Leggings. She raced to her luggage again and pulled out her leggings, throwing them onto the bed. Rosie threw off her dress, straightening out her tank top before getting her leggings on, followed by her slipping on her ballad slippers.

Finally, she was ready. Rosie pulled her hair back into a bun, looking at her face in the mirror. As usual, it was small and plump, her cheeks puffed out in a constant state of pouting. She cleared her throat and gazed back at her emerald green eyes, which looked back at herself with determination. This was the face she put on, every day. The face she had faced her friends, acquaintances, and enemies with. And soon, she’d face her family with the same face. Rosie grinned at the mirror before spinning around, bolting out of the girls dormitory. She sped into the common room and bumped into her mutual Reid on accident. “Sorry!” She yelled, continuing to run out of the room and into the hallway. Rosie approached the stairs and rested her hands on her knees, panting.

Three god damn floors of running.

Rosie cracked her fingers and stretched out her legs, probably getting a weird look from a student or two. She was doing leg stretches in ballad clothing in the middle of the corridors. She took a deep breath and ran up the stairs, her tiny legs hopping up each step. She turned a corner and continued up the next flight of stairs, at this point already panting. Rosie was a tiny girl, and didn’t have that much of stamina in her. She saw Anatole and spun around him before continuing to run up the stairs, and she swore she felt his eyes look at her as she kept running with a smile.
Finally, after flight after flight, Rosie reached the destined floor. She placed a hand against the stone floor and panted heavily, trying to get her lungs to stop hurting. She really shouldn’t have ran so fast. Jesus. Rosie took a few more moments to regain her breath, and stood up straight. She cleared her throat and walked slowly to the ballroom, pushing open the doors. As usual, the scenery was gorgeous. The ballroom was huge, the floor was smooth, perfect for dancing and gliding your feet across the room. The walls were decorated with huge windows with views as far as the eye could see. It was heaven for Rosie, a huge room, and thankfully, today she got it all for herself. She giggled and turned, closing the door behind her. It was perfectly silent. Usually, Rosie would oppose the silence, since it freaked her out. But today, she decided to bask in it. She made her way into the middle of the ballroom, her ballad slippers already gliding to a rhythm she made in her own hand. Rosie closed her eyes and let her body fall into a dance, her arms raising as she twirled around. She felt so free, so smooth in her movements, so loose. That’s what dancing made her feel. Rosie didn’t know why she did anything else to cope with her feelings. Crying didn’t help, yelling didn’t help, but dancing? Dancing always worked. Always. It made her feel calm even when she was angry. When Max called her so many bad things, her twirls let the problems spin away. When Eris left her to die and she was heartbroken, she leaped to the ceiling with her toes pointed and it seemed to disappear, and Rosie forgave them in an instance.

She landed and ran forward, gliding to the ground and spinning to her other side, getting up and immediately raising her arms and leaping again. She was always flexible, and it just helped her dancing even more. Rosie would probably go as far to say that she almost finds her flexibility inhuman to herself. But it certainly did help in stretches, that was for sure. Rosie leaped, and landed, and spun, and repeat. She rose down to the floor, pushing her palms to the ground and flipping herself over, gracefully rising to her feet and raising an arm. She felt her heartbeat pound against her chest as she took a moment to pause, staring at one of the windows. The sun shined through like a spotlight. One day, Rosie hoped to be able to be a famous ballerina, if the doctor dream or famous wizard aspiration didn’t work out. She took another deep breath and prepared to do her final move. She glided to the center once again, her arms curved, her chin up high so she wouldn’t lose focus. Rosie rose one foot and spun herself around, twirling on one foot. She finally stopped and knelt to the ground, bending her back to the ground and resting the back of her arms on the floor. She stared up at the chandelier in the ballroom for a moment, her chest rising and falling as she breathed quickly. She just… Did her own dance routine. It probably looked like a mess, but Rosie loved every moment of it. It was her last chance to dance in such a gorgeous room before leaving for the summer.

The young Hufflepuff laid on the ground, now fully on her back, and her arms spread out like an eagle. The year had been.. So eventful, so exciting! So traumatizing, in some parts. So interesting, in most. Rosie had met so many different people, who were all so unique in their own ways. She met someone she used to be able to call her enemy, and she met someone she could now call her best friend. The discovery of purebloods and their ways of thinking was a big part of the year, considering Rosie’s friend group consisted of royal wizards from big manors. She hoped that one day, even if she was apart of a muggle family, she’d be looked at as wonderful and amazing, and live in a big manor.

She finally sat up, wiping her eyes that were starting to get tired. Rosie stood up slowly and stumbled a bit. Sheesh, she did go all out, she was exhausted. She yawned, and let her curly, messy, poofy hair fall down her shoulders and into her sweaty and red face. This was the last dance of the first year. She was walking out of those double doors a second year. Rosie adjusted her tank top straps and hiked up her leggings a bit, taking off her ballad slippers. They were really beat up now. She sighed and walked across the ballroom in her bare feet, heading to the double doors. Rosie pushed them open and left the room.

A gentle breath left her lips as she made her way down the flight of stairs, and heading to her common room. It was time to actually pack this time.
