Coming home for the had hoildays felt like well- coming home. The Ito manor was just as grand as they remembered, if a little cleaner and neater without their garden-destroying presence. It had been good to see their Pa and step-mother again after communicating through only letters for so long, but apparently some things never changed. Dinner parties here still felt as boring as watching paint dry. The setup had been exciting at least. Cass had spent hours before helping their house elf decorate the drive, releasing fairies who seemed more than content to sit in the limelight even if it was as a mere garden ornament. The flower bushes Cass had crashed into on broomstick mere hours before had been restored to their former glory, purple and blue blossoms lining the sides of the manor.
For the families coming up the drive, it would certainly be a site to see. But for Cass, once it was all set up all they had to do was boring waiting for an even more boring party. Now they drifted around the grand dining room with their father, greeting the guests that were all trickling in. Extra boring polite conversations filled the room, guests from various pureblooded families mingling in small circles. At least it wasn't some massive party. There wasn't even any food out yet for them to snack on. They gave a polite nod to some worker from the ministry of magic their father was talking to, and wandered over to their stepmothers side. Her face was set in a cold small frown, and Cass knew that she would much rather be in the owlery tending to her birds than here. To anyone else, it would appear that something had annoyed her. A few years back, so would Cass.
Birds were without doubt more interesting than boring social mingling. Yet boring social mingling was what they must do. Holding in a melodramatic sigh, they walked back over to their father. What he expected them to do was beyond them, there was barely anyone their age here! At least then they could be bored in company. A slight creak from the doors sounded throughout the room, probably more guests entering. Oh well, they might as well go see. Back at their father's side once more, they gave a small wave to the girl that had just entered with what Cass assumed were her parents.

Ayumi | Emiko | Yutai | Thoughts
Ayumi lowers her head as she and her parents approach the giant yet well-kept manor. They are one of the last families to arrive, much to her mother's dissatisfaction. Emiko clearly shows her unhappiness in her whispers to Ayumi's father, Yutai, "I told you to buy a gift for them like two days ago, right, Yumi? You could have done it a lot earlier, couldn't you? Now we have to embarrass ourselves by reaching the manor late!"
Ayumi personally does not mind that much, but in her family, she looks up to her mother a lot more, so she takes her mother's side without a second thought, "Yes, Mother. I have heard you asking Father to purchase the book on his way back from his Office a few days ago."
Emiko shoots a glance at Ayumi's father before patting Ayumi's head, and the girl smiles a little as she watches on. The praise makes it worth supporting her mother, although she really did not hear anything about a book - In fact, she only realized that the gift they are giving to the Itos is a book when her mother mentioned it just now. Her parents had apparated out frantically in the morning, telling Ayumi to eat her breakfast while they buy 'something'.
Seems that this book thing is what they went out to purchase.
They enter the place, passing the gates of the manor. The interior of the house is just as glorious as the exterior, but Ayumi's gaze almost instinctively travels to the figure of a boy who is waving a little at her. Ayumi breaths in deeply, eyes looking back at her parents in a silent request. After receiving a regal nod from her mother, the girl waves back at the brown-haired boy, before heading over to him with a polite smile on her face.
Control herself. Make her parents proud, Ayumi reminds herself once again just as she reaches where the boy stands.

- Dinner Parties And Delinquents -
The girl in that they had waved at walked over after getting a nod from her parents, so they shot her a polite smile. "Welcome to the Ito manor" they said "Im Cass". They mentally shuddered. They sounded like a robot, or one of those muggle "tour slides" their father hated so much. This was the worst. Hogwarts had almost made them forget how much they hated being fancy and pretend and boring. Speaking of Hogwarts, they didn't recognise the girl from school. It was entirely possible that they just hadn't seen her around, but they were guessing she was either too young to attend or lived overseas. From trips with their father when they were younger, they had heard a lot about the other wizarding schools. They all sounded so different from Hogwarts, and so cool.
Because of her height and appearance, they were going to go with the first option. She must be starting next year, though Cass in all their short glory knew what it was like to get mistaken for much younger."Are you starting at Hogwarts next year?" they asked her, giving a real smile at the thought of the school. Hogwarts was mad and crazy and wonderful, and certainly never boring. It probably wasn't safe to get bored there. You never knew when you were going to be put in life threatening danger, and that just made it all the more fun. Next year was going to be even more awesome- they hoped to make the broom racing team, and maybe attend one of those balls everyone seemed to get permanent trauma from.
Standing here amid all this boring, the end of summer couldn't come fast enough. At least they had summer camp to look forward to, although home wasn't that bad when they weren't forced to attend dinner parties. The woods for example were whole new levels of awesome, and they had missed all the snakes that lived there. Parseltounge sat in their throat like a stone sometimes, as the fear that they might wake up to themself sleep talking in the language never seemed to leave them. The woods weren't just awesome for its snakes though- they loved the river and all the forts they had built there. It was a different kind of beauty from the manors grand elegance, a wild and untamed and glorious one.
"Are you coming to summer camp? they said, giving the appetisers that had been placed on the table a glance. Perhaps it was time to sneak over there and steal a whole plate or two. But back onto the topic of summer camp, that was going to be awesome as well. Sleeping in tents! Summer shenanigans! Water fights and broom sports to watch!

Ayumi | Emiko | Yutai | Cass | Thoughts
The boy greets Ayumi as she approaches, returning her smile with one of his own.
"Welcome to the Ito Manor," the boy greets, "I'm Cass."
Ayumi nods, frowning when she realises that the boy does not look contented with his greeting. She personally thinks that it is fine, but before she can introduce herself as well, the boy asks, "Are you starting at Hogwarts next year?"
The blond-haired girl sighs. While that is true, it is probably an assumption made based on her height, which is quite average for her age. Her parents have tried the best they can to help her grow taller, but genetics are genetics, and they can only blame themselves when her height stays non-extraordinary, comforting themselves by saying that it would make Ayumi more flexible in situations where being tall puts her at a disadvantage.
Ayumi doubts they even believe that themselves, but the topic is never again mentioned once it became certain that the girl's height will not increase overnight.
After a few moments of silence, the girl realises that she has not replied to Cass' question! She coughs awkwardly, but the boy just continues with another question, probably assuming that Ayumi does not want to answer the first one, "Are you coming to summer camp?"
Now that is easy to answer. Ayumi nods, trying to remember the boy's first question for a moment before saying, "I'm Ayumi Faeri. Yes, I am going to attend Hogwarts next year. I take it as it will not be your first year? I signed up for summer camp, yes. I hope it will not disappoint."
She pauses for a moment, before asking, "Do you want to get some food? I apologize if I am wrong, but you seem a little hungry."
Ayumi hopes that the boy will not get offended by her last sentence.
