On the outside, the tent is patterned with beautifully embroidered ocean waves in various shades of blue, ranging from the deepest navy to the brightest cerulean. An odd warmth radiates from this tent, and it seems to glow slightly, almost like the sun itself. It's a little slice of true summer in the midst of a July-and-August winter, and those who pull the tent flaps to open them will find them to be warm to the touch, like the tent has been sitting in the hot sun all day.
Upon stepping inside, one will be hit with a blast of pleasantly warm, salt-scented air and humidity. Curly hair, beware! Take off your shoes at the entrance and feel the sandy floor beneath your toes. The tent is much taller than it is wide, and through the far wall, you can even see the ocean lapping against an enchanted shore, the sun shining brightly down on the salty waves. Maybe one of these windows swings open and you can find a way to go swimming...
A three-story wall of blue-and-white-striped beds lines one side of the tent, and residents can choose to either climb the stairs or the ladder to get into their bunks for the night. Don't worry, the sheets are charmed to repel sand and water so you'll stay comfortable and dry all night! Some tables and comfortable wicker chairs line the other wall for seating purposes, and these are always stocked with refilling platters of sandwiches, soft drinks, and other summery snacks. Welcome to the beach!

“Beach love doesn’t go up the mountain.”
—Brazilian proverb
(meaning that summer love doesn't last)
Manu had not been back to London in two full years, and even last year at camp, she had hardly done anything to participate in the various activities and such that had littered the Hogwarts campgrounds like flies in a Rio summer. On the other hand, the last time the witch from Castelobruxo had stepped foot in the Quidditch stadium here in England's capital, it had been quite a summer indeed, full of kissing and yelling and punching, perhaps too eventful for Manu's taste. She was determined for this summer to fall exactly in-between - duelling and friends and fun, perhaps even the ability to visit with some of the pals from other schools she'd met at previous camps, if they were in attendance here.
Upon arriving to the stadium on the morning of July 15th, 2024, her open-toed Havaianas (a Muggle brand of flip-flops popular in Brazil) sunk into not the plush grass she had expected, but snow, and instead Manu gazed out in pure horror over the wintry tundra into which the once-lush stadium had turned. Who in hell had decided to make a summer camp turn winter? She had fled the winter temperatures of Rio (read: low 70s F, low 20s C) to come here for a beachy, summery paradise full of hot weather and salty ocean breezes, and instead, here she was, a warm sun shining down upon the coldest winter she had ever touched. Manu, being from Rio de Janeiro, had never even seen snow before. What was this stuff? As her close-to-bare feet sunk into the snow on her trundling, begrudging walk off to the tent sign-ups, Manu couldn't help but shiver: if this was what she was expected to deal with for the summer, she had grossly underpacked when it came to warm clothing.
Where was all the pirate-themed stuff from two years ago? She'd quite liked that.
After being assigned to a tent, Manu again trekked through the snow, complaining and cursing in various languages under her breath - though avoiding English, lest any of the fellow teenagers milling about laugh at the carioca girl from Rio that couldn't handle the cold. She could only imagine what the other Castelobruxo students were going through right now - likely suffering a similar, unprepared fate. Finally, Manu made it to the tent to which she had been assigned, taking in its ocean-patterned exterior with waves in various shades of beautiful blue, and she huffed a frustrated groan at its appearance: Oh, as if it were not bad enough to make the camp a winter this year? We must make fun of my wants for summer, too? Hefting her trunk over one shoulder to support its weight, Manu reached out to grab the tent flap and yank it open - only to find the entry flap to be pleasantly warm. And what was that in the air?... a slight scent of salt, perhaps?
A reinvigorated Manu practically threw open the entry flap and rushed the few steps inside to be greeted with the summery paradise of her dreams: hot sand between her toes, the salt air tinged with such humidity that her curly hair immediately began to regain the puff it had lost upon her arrival to the distinctly non-humid England, and best of all, the ocean visible just on the other side of the glass wall on the other side. Where had they been hiding all of this magic? Perhaps it would be an all right summer after all, if she only never left the tent.
Manu kicked off her flip-flops by the entrance, not caring where they landed in the dimpled golden sand, and rushed to throw her trunk on the farthest bed in the bottom row, the one right by the window. With any luck, this magic beach would have a sunset too, and she'd get to watch the golden sun go down on the shore, just like at home. Being the first person there, it seemed she'd have her pick of the litter, though the short-tempered witch was certainly willing to fight anyone who'd try to take this from her. If her tentmates ever showed up, of course.

Winter Summerland
Role playing as Sabrina Ortega from Castelobruxo
the fearful should always be fearedEnglish • Spanish
Another summer, another long journey to London. Unlike the last year at the Hogwarts campgrounds, this summer adventure was in the London Quidditch stadium. Sabrina had never been to the stadium, and she was careful not to enjoy it too much. It was unlikely she'd go back for a long time.
Sabrina had been assigned to the Southern Hemisphere tent. She felt rather at home with the theme. Bolivia could be a hot place, but July was usually an enjoyable month. As a native of a southern hemisphere country, she hoped Hogwarts had made it as realistic as possible.
She flipped open the tent flap and an instant wave of warm salty air hit her. She slipped off her pair of sneakers and held them in hand. Thankfully she wasn't dragging a suitcase across the sand, and only held a bag in her arms. She stepped quickly across the hot sand and tossed her bag on the furthest left bed on the second row.
Once her shoes and bag were settled, she turned in a 360 circle to take in all the tent details. Since Bolivia was landlocked, this was nothing like her home. Sabrina took a hair tie off her wrist and used it to tie back her long hair.
She sighed and crossed her arms in displeasure. "Esto no se parece en nada a Bolivia," she announced to anyone who might have been listening. "Parece que la gente de Hogwarts lo ha estropeado."

Post date July, 3 2024 (1:24am) It was the 15th of July, the young Slytherin had her trunk at hand as she entered the venue of the camp and immediately thought 'Isn't this a SUMMER camp?'. It was confusing. The people called it a summer camp yet the stadium was filled with snow? How ironic. At least Ara never actually dressed summer-y whatever the occasion. It was her 2nd ever summer camp at Hogwarts. She attended it to avoid going to balls, dinners, and whatnot. There were many tents scattered around the area. It took a while until she found her assigned tent, the Southern Hemisphere Tent. The outside was beautifully embroidered with waves which intrigued her.The black and white haired girl didn't know who she would be tented with but she hoped to see a familiar face or two.
Ara went into the tent, the humid air slapping her face. 'How pleasant...' she ironically thought. She saw a pair of sandals near the entrance, she did the same, removing her platforms but holding onto them since she brought sandals of her own that she would much prefer to walk in. The soon to be third year looked around to see a beach just outside the window. 'Eh, not like I want to get a tan.' Her eyes then wandered to the big shelf of beds and she immediately set her eyes on the top row in which she wouldn't be disturbed. But unfortunately, the beds looked a bit thin and easy to fall off on so she settled on the next best one. The second row.
She chose a bed 2nd from the left but she saw a rather familiar person up there already. Ara swore she saw them at last year's summer camp. The other girl was the person whose bunk was over the Slytherin's last camp. She recalled the name to be Sabrina but she couldn't recall the last name. Ara set down her things, she was surprised that the sand didn't reach the bedsheets. 'Thank you magic for not giving me the worst 2 months of my life.'
Her platforms were still in her hands so she opened one of jer trunks and put it inside with some other shoes. Then, she took out a pair of sandals and a pair of boots. She set the boots aside, knowing she'll need them when she would go out. The girl named Sabrina then said something in Spanish. Ara could understand the language but couldn't speak it fluently. She was forced to learn many languages from a young age for pure blood balls and other events. Not really caring if the tent was similar to Bolivia, she shrugged it off and continued settling herself in.RP Word Count: 451/200

observation available: cyrus enters the tent in a duck-print-on-sky-blue short-sleeved polo, cargo shorts and wizard crocs. he is wearing sunglasses and apparently didn't get the memo about the winter summer camp.

Cyrus loved summer camp.
It was always so full of games, fun and friends! And warmth. He couldn't wait to bask in the sun in the Quidditch stadium, to wriggle his toes in the well-kept grass. He would return to America with an aggressively-horrible farmer's tan (and also a Croc tan, now) and sun-bleached hair.
When he arrived at the London Quidditch Stadium, decked out in a brand new duck-print Polo and also brand-new Wizard Crocs, his smile faltered only for a moment before he began his Croc-wearing trek through the snow. Snow would make its way through the tasteful holes in his shoes. At least he wasn't wearing socks.
The teenager fought back a shiver, and he thought about the clothes he'd packed inside his backpack and duffel bag. They were very decidedly not winter clothes at all. He had brought an abundance of cargo shorts, khaki shorts, one pair of nice shorts, and a few pairs of athletic shorts. He had brought one pair of slacks just in case. His shirts were all short-sleeved or tank tops, although he had brought one hoodie... just in case. After years of entertaining Britland with his wonderful visits, he had learned the truth: British weather was unpredictable. However, in all his years of visiting the United Kingdom, he had never seen it snow in July.
Cyrus hoped his appearance remained characteristically enthusiastic, but inside, he was slightly horrified. What was wrong with England!?
This, clearly, was why he was American.
He got his tent assignment and worriedly made his way to the tent, his Crocs squelching with every move he made. How was he supposed to sleep in a tent when it was this cold outside!? The point of summer was to be warm and inviting, to be the perfect weather for bonfires and barbecues!
He lifted the flap to the tent and ducked inside, already lifting his duffel bag so that he could take out his hoodie, and once he straightened his posture, he smiled gently. Oh.
The tent was probably the best thing about camp, he had decided already. The chills on his arms were already beginning to subside as he inhaled the warm, salty air that was reminiscent of paradise. Maybe he would have to move to Florida once he graduated, he thought, if summer at the warm beach was this lovely.
Because that was just it – this tent had a beach. Cyrus's Crocs now collected sand like unused shelves collected dust, and he eyed what seemed to be a window that featured an ocean that was serene and unbothered by tourists. He couldn't help but breathe a small gasp. He had brought a few swimsuits.
'Hi, everyone,' Cyrus said with a wave before heading to a bed that appeared unclaimed. 'I'm Cyrus, from Ilvermorny. Did either of you pack for the weather? Because I sure didn't.'

“Beach love doesn’t go up the mountain.”
—Brazilian proverb
(meaning that summer love doesn't last)
Manu could only enjoy the quiet solitude of the salt-soaked air and faint sounds of waves lapping against a shore before it seemed that the very gates of hell themselves opened, and into the tent poured three new faces, one after the other. Manu turned from standing beside her claimed bed, ready to defend her newly taken territory, to see a face that could have been plucked from the golden hallways of Castelobruxo itself: an assumption that was confirmed when the girl complained in the Spanish language a moment later. Having grown up in Rio, Manu's Spanish wasn't perfect, but her mother Mira was from Argentina, so the teenager understood the younger girl well enough. At hearing a more familiar language than English, the elder student relaxed slightly, throwing the kid a casual smile. "Pues, tal vez no se parezca a Bolivia, pero sí perfectamente a Rio," she tossed back, her accentuated sh sounds marking her as a non-native speaker of the language despite having grown up with it in the home. "Qué lástima que no tengan playa en Bolivia. No sé cómo sobrevives sin ver el océano casi todos los días." Well, it may not look like Bolivia, but perfectly like Rio. What a shame they don't have the beach in Bolivia. I don't know how you survive without seeing the ocean almost every day. Though Manu's Spanish may not have been accented to perfection, she certainly was relieved to have another Castelobruxo student in the tent; she wouldn't be alone that way. Maybe the girl even spoke Portuguese, though if she hailed from Bolivia, Manu doubted it.
A second face wandered in moments later, another younger one, though this one didn't look like she was from Castelobruxo and didn't say anything to confirm or deny the assumption. Both of the smaller girls headed up to the second level of beds, leaving Manu still lonesome on the first - but that was totally fine by her. Hell, if they wanted to give her the entire first row all to herself, she wasn't about to complain.
And then an American waltzed in.
He was immediately evident, not just from the flattened manner of his speech, the way his vowels languished in this throat like they did with all the American tourists that flooded Rio for Carnaval each February, but also from his fashion: that horrendously tropical pattern that was also quite an easy way to pick out tourists in the vacation times. What were those on his feet? Crocs? Manu had seen those in Muggle stores before, but never seen a fellow user of magic even dare to put a pair on their feet. Between the rubber ducks, the sunglasses, and the shock of blond hair, it was clear to Manu that this kid was not from around here.
But that was okay - Manu wasn't from around here, either, and this one seemed to be her first tentmate of a similar age, rather than one a few years younger.
He introduced himself to no one in particular as Cyrus, from Ilvermorny - Manu vaguely recalled her geography lessons, confirming her suspicions that the boy was an American. Cyrus, what an odd name - that 'ai' vowel that didn't quite exist as a lone syllable in any of her native languages, but rather as a diphthong. Though she made a mental note of his name, Manu knew she'd likely have an issue with the pronunciation at some point or another. Still, she gave the boy a cursory glance and a nod as she opened her trunk and withdrew a pair of darkened shades herself. "Manu," she said shortly, pointing to herself for just a moment before glancing out the glass windows on the wall closest to her once more. "And what do you want to say, pack for the weather? The tent is a beach. You are dressed for the beach. I'm not understanding your problem." She quirked an eyebrow at him, mildly confused and even more still concerned by his touristy choice of attire, then added the sunglasses to her face and pushed them up to the top of her head so that she could still see him in the bright light of the tent.

Mentioning: Manu Macedo @Aly Salinger and Sabrina Ortega @Sage WillowsReducioThe thirteen year old put her sandals on and was about to go back down until a duck guy came in. 'Interesting choice of fashion...' she thought. The older boy wore a duck patterned blue shirt, shorts, sunglasses and... what are those things on his feet? 'Shoes with holes in them, poor guy.' Ara assumed he was American because of the accent and that he was from Ilvermorny. The duck man who is apparently named Cyrus asked if anyone packed for the weather and the girl who just replied to Sabrina's Bolivia comment replied to him as well, saying that he was dressed perfectly for the beach-themed tent.
"I just brought all my things from school here, so I have clothes for any occasion.. just not for swimming though." Ara stated from her bed in the second row while looking at the beach. The girl just went straight to the stadium from Hogwarts, didn't do a stopover or anything so she just brought everything she had when she left her dorm. As she let the two older people converse, she went down her bed and put her boots near the entrance so that it was there if she ever went out in the snow.
As she was near the two almost adults, she noticed the height difference that she didn't see before on the 2nd row. Ara thought about the difference in genes and ethnicity could be the cause since they looked rather close in age. She then noticed she was the only person from Hogwarts in the tent at the moment so that's that. The girl wondered if there were going to be more people joining the tent since she counted 4 people already inside including herself.
She walked around in the warm sand, finding her way to the seating area opposite to the beds. Ara sat down on one of the wicker chairs. The chair was comfortable to sit on. The table in the middle of the chairs had some sandwiches and drinks on it. She didn't get any because of her poor appetite and resorted to looking out of the window at the beach. Ara thought if it was an actual beach or just an illusion.RP Word Count: 369/200

Role playing as Sabrina Ortega from Castelobruxo
the fearful should always be fearedEnglish • SpanishSabrina settled herself back on the bed she had claimed and watched as two new people entered the tent. So far, Sabrina seemed to be the youngest in the group. Two of the people she did not recognize, but the third was a familiar face.
Ara, Sabrina remembered her name was. She had been in the same cabin as her last year. From what she remembered, Ara was only one year ahead of her, although they were the same age. Sabrina lifted her hand and offered a wave to Ara.
The next one to enter was a boy with a strong American accent. He introduced himself as Cyrus. Sabrina looked him up and down and tried not to laugh at his ridiculous looking shirt with ducks on it.
The first person that had been in the tent, another Castelobruxo student, replied to her previous comment. Her accent wasn't one of a native Spanish speakers, so Sabrina guessed she was a Portuguese speaking student.
"Océano o no, Bolivia es mejor que cualquier tontería que sea un campamento de verano," Sabrina mumbled, knowing that likely no one except the other Castelobruxo student would understand her.
The girl she had spoken to replied to the American boy's comment, and Sabrina couldn't help cracking a smile. Oh, I'm going to like that one, she thought to herself.
"Manu is correct," Sabrina said to Cyrus in her accented English. "It is summer, and you are certainly dressed for it in that... duck uniform."
Sabrina was dressed about as well as she could be. A black t-shirt, white around the sleeves, hugged her form, and a pair of forest green khaki shorts covered her tanned legs. Rather than wearing flip-flops, which would have been wise, Sabrina had worn a pair of beat-up gray Converse sneakers that were now thrown haphazardly across the sand.
She turned her attention to the only person she'd known before that summer. "It's Ara, right?" she asked. She pointed to herself. "Sabrina. Forward Dated to First Day of CampWinter SummerlandxxxxxTristan entered the Quidditch Stadium with a determination to do everything to the fullest this summer, without regrets would be his motto. So, unlike any other year, he started strong, bringing his snake with him and his broom to camp because he wanted to. He had also brought a collection of Muggle Literature that he desperately enjoyed, philosophy, scientific innovations, maths, and even a little romance. He made his way to the tent he had been assigned with his items and was mesmerised by the beautiful embroidery of ocean waves that he saw upon the outside of the tent. There was warmth glowing from the tent.
xxxxxCompared to the cold wintery scene around him, the tent was a breath of summer from the Caribbean or California's Huntington Beach. He stepped inside the tent and took a deep breath in. He smelled salt and sea, and he let his shoulders relax. There were people already inside the tent and the only thing he recognised were those Crocs. The Crocs bought in Knockturn alley. It could be a coincidence, but Tristan never believed in full coincidences often. He did not say anything though, opting to look around and observe the people that had gathered in this slice of summer. He saw another girl, around the same age as him, golden skin radiating, fitting in with the golden summer the tent displayed.
xxxxxThere was a girl he recognised from Hogwarts, another Slytherin, and an even younger girl. Tristan observed the conversation but did not join in for the moment. He loved learning about people even if he did not converse with them. He heard the people's names as he carefully listened to the conversation going around. He heard many names, committing them to memory and his heart. He would make sure that all these people here knew that he appreciated them and cared for them as their senior and their peer. It was a strangely serious goal for a fifteen-year-old, but those who knew that he was living in honour of his friend and tutor's death would understand his desperate passion to love and care for people around him. In the past, he had been eccentric and cold, but with his tutor passing away two years ago, he now desperately was as warm as he could be.
xxxxxTristan walked up to the group and gently smiled, "Hello, everyone. I have come in slightly tardy, but I appreciate being your tentmate this year. My name is Tristan for those who do not know me, and it is great to see you all here." It was a warm introduction but very proper, perhaps, due to the training as a pureblood he had received as a child. He also was tutored in Muggle subjects as well since he lived with his tutor in Muggle London, but he was reverting to his pureblood ways for a moment, it seems. Tristan was a whimsical fellow, apt to be humourous and dark at the same time, similar to the muggle character, Willy Wonka, but also more loving, nowadays.

Thank god for the warmth of this tent. She'd packed her Summer clothes for this camp. London might not have the Summer back home, but it was supposed to be better than this. She'd shuddered and grabbed her light jacket from her backpack immediately upon entering the Stadium. Why in the world had organisers decided to allow this!
Sandals on and light Summer clothes grasped around her, Agata made her way to the tent and breathed a sigh of releif upon entering. Bright, warm sand greeted her everywhere along with a chorus of breaking waves. A few of her tent mates had also made their way into the tent and Aggie nodded in their directions. She recognised a few as fellow Castelo students but the others she had no clue on who they were. One she wanted to say was American, the others British, but until they spoke to her she didn't want to assume.
Placing her things on one of the unclaimed striped beds, she made her way over to the group. Crossing her arms, even as her skin warmed, she introduced herself. "Hello. I'm Agata. From Castelobruxo. Nice to meet you in this cold hell that the English call Summer." Seriously, once again, she questioned the sanity of the Hogwartians and their school.
